At Tilmor, we’ve dedicated ourselves to making and selling tools designed for you! With many years of combined experience in manufacturing and vineyard management, we’ve partnered with Thiessen Tillage Equipment to provide the best under-vine weed management tools for your vineyard. We invite you to talk with us about how our vineyard weeder can make a difference on your operation, or learn more at Tilmor.com.
The Adaptive Cultivator System (ACS) is a weed control tool for vineyards, trellised orchards, hemp and fence lines. The ACS is primarily used as a maintenance tool and not an aggressive tillage tool. The 26" finger weeder head is supported by a flexible torsion arm that requires no electronic or hydraulic input as it works to eliminate weeds in the crop row without damaging the established crop. The fingers are able to run right up to, and around the crop without operator input and does not leave an unworked area at the base of the vine, like a radius on a grape hoe. The machine excels at working speeds of 4 to 7 mph depending on soil and crop conditions. Running ahead of the finger weeders are a gang of two spiders that work to break crust and control weeds alongside the row. Depending on how they are set, they can also be used to move a small amount of soil towards or away from the crop row. These spiders also run on a flexible torsion mount which allows them to adjust to contours on the ground without operator input. A rigid guard designed to deflect vines, trees or other crops protects both the crop and the equipment from damage.

Do you have any hop Farms using your setup? This looks perfect, however hop bines aren't as thick/resilient as a vine stalk...we'd need to place something sturdy in front of the bines for the implement to bounce off of like it does for the trunks/stalks here. Awesome!!

Typically the challenge is that the ACS is too tall. Hops, because of how it is typically grown start will start to hang low. If they are small enough where you are staking each plant, than would definitely help and possibly work. We'd put softer fingers on the head for that situation. We are looking at a shorter unit which could help.

@@TilmorProducts thanks, really appreciate the feedback. Not sure if it'd still be considered too low, but most of us in commercial yards remove the bottom 3-4 of side arms as it helps improve the airflow through the yard...addditionally those sidearms tend to hardly produce any actual cones. It's a very manual process when done without chemical...it'd be great to be able to use a "sucker" removal implement like I've seen some vineyards use, but don't think it'd work. In any event, if there was a 3-4' clearance at the base given what I'd mentioned, might that be enough for the ACS to fit under or no? Thank you! I hope we can budget for your setup here in the next year or so!

@@HoffAppFarm I don't see why that would be a problem at all then. When sitting on a concrete surface, the height to the top of the torsion block is 29". This would go lower when engaged in the ground and the arm flattens out a bit. I'd make some adjustments during setup vs the default we send it out in so the arm is angled more towards the back so it more easily gets pushed aside when it contacts the stake or plant. That would make it a bit more gentle, along with the softer fingers. We are happy to talk things through whenever you need so don't hesitate to reach out. Good luck this season!
