haven't seen a long watermelon like that before. Still need to try my hand at doing some hydroponics outside. I think I even got a solar air pump somewhere too. :p
Great video, maybe a stupid question but I've seen people used water pumps for hydroponics but you used an air pump . If you used a water pump so that the water was being distributed above the water level would this serve the same purpose. Thinking of going hydroponic next season and trying to gather knowledge asap
Water pumps work fine, but do have trouble with roots growing into the pump, so there are tradeoffs. Some plants roots do not like much movement of the water, but I'm not sure if melons fall under that category or not.
After each plant starts growing one watermelon cut the rest of the vine off and cut the rest of the flowers off as well so the plant can focus on maturing that one watermelon as fast as possible.
