Growing a Samorost (documentary film) 

Thank you so much for this video and for the games you make. You create absolutely incredible game worlds in which I feel like a child. It's like falling into a thick grass and watching a small world of insects that live in it. Every time I play Samorosts I go back to my childhood. Greetings from Russia. Never stop!

The existence of a game studio like Amanita makes me so happy, and I wish there were more developers like it; people who see the limitless potential of video games as an art form and not just an addictive skinner box with violence and scoring systems and achievements and microtransactions. (not that there's anything fundamentally wrong with games like that! We just don't have enough well-made games that *aren't* like that)

You guys are the reason for the happiness of a lot of people , there's no other game dev's that come close to your level of fidelity and polish in making these works of art which are totally unique in every aspect .

I am 70 years old and I think your games are all brilliant. Please keep making these wonderful worlds for everyone to play. Samarost is my favorite; that little gnome rocks!

Samorost 3 is my absolute favourite. The game feels huge even from a player's perspective. The sheer talent, years of work, team coordination, and meticulous attention to detail really show, and are appreciated. There is something special to the nature-themed paintings of A. Lachman that I can't put my finger on. They combine realism with a sort of hyperbola into a magical formula that just works perfectly (and, apparently, requires months of work). And T. Dvořák is a musical genius. My impression is that the Amanita team are all incredibly lucky to have each other. I'm a big admirer, guys!

While I was playing Samorost games, I was constantly thinking about what kind of humans does it take to create something this beautiful. Not disappointed to say the least.

tomas dvorak i am your admirer your melody ..by the wall ,, does not give me peace, you felt when you wrote it, for several years I listen to it when I am sad, I slow down the melody 2 times, listen to it all alone when depression takes up over me, and in general I like all of your works. thank.

Samorost was love at first sight for me, such a quirky mix of different things both visual and audial that result in a totally unique vibe. mmmm these percussions and melodies, mossy roots, oh dear :) Thanks Amanita!

As a kid in 80s I watched many cartoons made in Czechoslovakia at that time. It was the best we could see on communist Polish television then. I love this approach to creating in the spirit of spontaneous children's imagination. Amanita Design - you guys rock and still got it! Greetz from Poland, you have many fans here!

Есть игры как искусство, есть - нет. Саморост однозначно из первых, потому что и картинка, и музыка, и проработанность деталей - на высоте. Можно даже не играть, чтобы в этом убедиться, достаточно открыть сцену и наслаждаться сочетанием всего. И проработанность, и душевность, и внимание к деталям... пойду еще раз перепройду.

Je těžké popsat, jak moc miluji tuto hru! Hrála jsem její první díly z tátova počítače, když mi bylo šest let. Jednoho dne táta vzal počítač na služební cestu a já jsem nakreslila ty, které v té době existovaly, část hry na paměti. Každý snímek. A strkala prsty na list papíru, aby si představovala, že ji hraji. Zní to divně, ale bylo mi jen šest a zbožňovala jsem ji. Pro mě byla okouzlující a tajemná. A dodnes s úžasem vzpomínám, jak jsem ji poprvé viděla. Není to jen hra, je to skutečné umění. Když jsem zjistila, že vychází třetí díl, byla jsem moc ráda. Chci poděkovat vývojářům a všem, kteří se podíleli na její tvorbě pro Samorost. Jsem vám nekonečně vděčná! (Omlouvám se za případné chyby, jsem z Ruska a rozhodla jsem se použít překladatele. S největší pravděpodobností tento komentář zůstane bez povšimnutí, ale nikdy bych si neodpustila, kdybych neřekla vděčnost a jak moc miluji tuto hru. Bože, brečela jsem.)

I have been a fan of your work for as long as I can remember. I stumbled across Samorost 1 when I was in a very lonely time in my life. I love the art and the music of Amanita pieces and am super excited whenever there is a new experience to be had.

One of my favorite things was to wake up on Sunday morning, make some coffee and play Samorost 3. It was like the sense of wonder I felt as a kid. I got it for my dad as a gift, it is his turn to try it.

It's magical to see the creative process that went into creating such a masterpiece. You guys are absolute geniuses and masters of the craft. Never stop doing what you're doing.

When I play Samorost it feels like home to me. I played it with my dad when I was about 5 years old. Playing the third Game was a great throwback.

It baffles me that I haven't stumbled upon this documentary earlier. I still remember my mom showing me the 1st Samorost game that a colleague of hers had shown her, back in like 2005. This game is cosmic. Beautiful on an absolutely surreal level and yet, so down-to-earth quirky and cute. All these little tunes and sounds the characters make, all the meticulously created locations, atmospheric music - all things put together set you on a journey on a piece of deadwood/comet/root vegetable etc. etc. amongst creatures big and tiny. Having finished it, I'm putting it away for a while just to play it again in a while and, for sure, find more details and fall in love with the game again. Thank you for this fantastic skill and storytelling.

I absolutely loved Samorost when it came out and its like you say, it has a humanity and innocence that appeals to your senses more than anything tangible with all the natural aspects to it floating around in space, i still listen to the music every now and then because Dvorak came up with some wonderful sounds....keep going guys.

Absolutní skvost. Nejlepší české herní studio. Co hra, to naprostý klenot. Samorostí série má u mě speciální místo kvůli sepětí s přírodou. Každou hru netrpělivě vyhlížím :-) Cosmic box je na čestném místě v mé sbírce her. Kdo nemá, prohloupil. Dokonalá grafika, dokonalé zvuky, dokonalá hudba, dokonalé detaily. Těším se na Creaks Collector's Edition v dubnu!

It is amazing how highly skilled and creative people can do so much with very modest means ; no high end studio, laptops, etc etc. I need to keep it mind next time I am thinking to upgrade my already very good tech gears.

Vaše hry jsou prostě legendární. Jako malý jsem s dědou a bráchou hrál první dva díly Samorosta, Machinarium, později i Botaniculu, a tak mám pro vaše hry slabost. Přeci jen to byly jedny z prvních her které jsem kdy hrál (možná i první co jsem hrál). Pamatuju si, že když vyšel Samorost 3, tak jsem se do té hry úplně ponořil. Creaks byla taky geniální hra. Rozhodně pokračujte v tom co děláte (pokud zrovna neděláte Chuchel) a nepřestávejte, protože vaše hry jsou doslova umění :) A taky furt čekám na to pošahané Machinarium 2. Notak, už je to 12 let.
