5b North America.I grow it in a deep Pot with well drained potting mix.It blooms in late summer.Simply wait till foliage yellows in fall. Then I bring it inside.Leaving the pot in a dark place .no watering. They sleep in the dirt until spring .Removing the old soil in the spring.Im delighted at the corms both large and small.Fresh potting mix in the spring. They are easy to grow.Again well suited to pot culture in cool climates .
Thank you for sharing your valuable insight and experience growing these amazing plants! Very much appreciated and hope it will help others grow and flower this wonderful plant successfully.
Came straight here!!!!! I just planted about 6 today! Someone gave my neighbor 3 different bags of bulbs for her birthday there were 30 in the bag and she gave me 15 of these & 6 various lillies. I'm in Tennessee I grow clematis, columbine, asiatic lilly, zinnias, sunflowers, passion flowers, marigolds, nigella, bachelor's buttons, hummingbird vine, hollyhocks, gladiolus, and many varieties of lily I can't for the life of me grow dahlias echinacea or lavender Oh I hope I can grow these I'm in Tennessee in zone 7
The plant doesn't need any support even though it can get up to 4 feet high. It's an elegant plant being tall and a flower with beautiful inside coloring framed by the white petals. The normal Gladiolus that I planted last year all fell down as they can't seem to support it's flower's weight. I thought I read someplace that this is not a true Gladiola.
I live in zone 6b and These have been growing pretty ok for the past 3 years 👍🏽👍🏽. I tried to get it on a watering routine but it doesn't like that. It seems to like to be left alone.
@@itsinyournature try them! It was a nice surprise... I wasn’t expecting the crocosmia to bloom the first year but they did so I’m expecting this year to be an amazing show. Happy growing!
What zone are u...what is your soil ph? WATER PH...WE HAVE BOTH AS ALYKINE NO MATTER WHAT BECAUSE OF WATER... Does it normally look droopy...DOES IT WORKMAS.A.CUT FLOWER?
I"m in Maryland. Of about 12 I planted last year only 2 came up this season. I planted another 24 this season and every bulb came up so I"m guessing they need to come out.
Growing in containers the corms will lay dormant in their pots until spring. If brought inside after foliage yellows.Just put in a dry dark place.Do not water During dormancy. You can carry them over year after year this way.Baby cormlets are an added bonus.Im 5b in N.H./U.S.A
