Amaranth is one of my all time favorite things to grow in the garden. There's so much variety, the colors are fabulous, and they're totally easy and carefree. Hope you enjoy! :)

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you'll will see random projects, cooking, and of course - growing stuff. I'm not an expert, and would never claim to be. There's always more to learn - this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including RU-vid) is to share ideas. My amaranths transplanted really well. I was slack and let them sit in the sun while I was on the phone and doing other things for an hour. I just found that the weaklings stayed small and the stronger ones grew big and strong. I just planted the stems deeper for extra rooting.

I absolutely loved your video. It was like spending time with a cool neighbor. Great info! Looks like we’re going to have wait until spring to start growing our amaranth. Thank you

I like it very much that you care for the amaranth I bought every seed that I could or packets of seeds that I bought from Baker Creek heirloom seeds and I bought all of them so I bought about $36 worth they gave you two packages actually I'm mistaken that $34 I'm looking at the receipt now and it's 14 packages I got to or free for something else that they gave me for buying it another thing I was going to try as the Sorghum cuz it has seed pods and like that the seed heads as you said I've been watching every video I can about it. Thank you for taking the time to even do this a lot of people don't want to make up videos but if mine grows right I'll put videos up be my first time doing using RU-vid but I think that it's important to grow this something in my heart my mind my soul says grow this you know and I'm big into gardening now huge it's become another Obsession for me... self-sufficient type living I travel to other countries and I never paid attention to this Wonder food that it is in other countries is incredible and I never paid attention to that can I speak Spanish so I had the opportunity but I never did... rather that I didn't know what it was....

My amaranth row got mixed with wild pigweed seed so it has been a nightmare distinguishing between the two. The video helped clarify how they look when small though I am sure I pulled some of my amaranth on accident…

I've always heard that white seeded varieties are best for grain production. Some reds are white seeded, but it seems most have black seeds. Hope that helps!

Hello, I’m Joe from Springfield Missouri. I bought I believe three packs of Amaran different colors what I’m wondering is after they bloom and of course winter comes in cold weather. Do you have to trim them down or do you just leave them as is until they bloom again?

I grew Amaranth this year was very pleased with some & not so damn pleased w/others. I did notice the Amaranth that was supposedly the same type from different sellers was totally different! lol The more decorational Amaranth like Joseph's Coat...really were unattractive...of course that one came from that same seller that sold me the wrong type of Amaranth. Yeah...you guessed it...my entry of my gate looks odd because one side has the tall bright Amaranth & the other has the shorter bushed out Amaranth. I don't thin out my seedlings btw and never had a problem. Beautiful plants girl!

In India, the leaves are consumed much more. However we have a high variety of vegetarian cooking which is absent in west. We dont eat salad. Always cooked with spices or pulses

It depends on the variety. Mine are usually over 6 ft. However, there are also some short dwarf varieties. 🌱🌱🌱
