Im in Tracy , very close to you and new to the gardening game. I had no idea 1 tree can produce various types of avocados! I just purchased my first Fuerte avocado tree from Costco today
Here in Santa rosa near the coast, my queens and king palms are growing faster than ever and then they are going to Arizona-land! Its suprising that the high temps are getting this close to the coast. Its 96 degrees!
I've set up a 4 pole shade cloth covering for my Holiday dwarf avocado planted 2 years ago- which is just now producing a few fruits. I'll shade it through this heat wave and then uncover it at the end of the week. I'll go give it some extra water too. Super bloom spring- we should get super fruit too! Turlock, Ca.
Good luck with the Reed. My Reed flowered like crazy, but most flowers are not opening up and the ones that are only open in the male phase. Wish I would have waited 3 months to graft the budwood I got from Hawaii last November :(
I keep a shade cloth over my raised bed garden after I pull off the heavy duty clear tarp (25 pounds) used during the winter. Mostly hot peppers in the raised bed, but also two types of tomato, two types of Asian eggplant, pole beans that will not produce once we get hot, and currently weeds that I can't keep pulled.
Lol I do have a little chuckle to myself at your insane temperatures Jeff 😱. Summer has arrived here as well but that means dropping to around 50 at night and up to 70 daytime this week 🙄. No irrigation issues here yet 😂
The Macadamia nut tree can handle the heat easy and it is a great shelter to avocado, the leave are flammable, I have a cast chimenea and put some green ones in there, they burn hard and fast. In regards to the avocado if you get a leaf and put under the microscope and watch the guard cell shut when it gets hot. This would give you a indicator at what temp the plant shut down to maintain moisture and stop transpiration.
Hi Jeff, thanks for your video. I have a 3 year old Hass tree, it had lots flowers last year and had 5 small fruits, but they all dropped onto ground when they were grape sized. This year the tree also has lots flowers but only 2-3 pea sized fruits still on the tree, the rest all falling out, what could be the problem? What could I do to encourage more fruits to set in?
great videos. I have to ask u. I have a haas avacado i grew from a seed and it got to about 2 ft in the pot and all of a sudden the leaves wilted and fell off. Now the plant is still there with a healthy trunk but no leaf growth what so ever. What can I do to promote leaf growth at this situation. Ty so much
i saw a 4 inch green grasshopper on my avacado tree/bush 1 week after it bloomed. 3 days later no blooms! you think it ate them all? what can i do in future to prevent this, please help.
@@TropicalGardenGuy i'm a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, very low mobility so i can't physically kill them... any advice on poison i could use that would not effect fruit? thanks for the reply!
Today, I learned I received another Gold Medal from the State Fair for my Eisbock homebrew. Scored 43 out of 50. I now have 4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze from the State Fair over the last three competitions.
