I use that as a separator, I had a terrible hatch rate using it. Normally. I use a bottle with an air stone. Then I use this to separate eggs from shrimp. I fill the inner rings with water then add my strained hatched shrimp and eggs to the outer ring. They swim to the middle and you don’t get any shells.

I think for food, they prefer algae (spirulina) which you can buy cheap in powdered form, and even yeast, like for baking bread, in the baking aisle at the grocery store. So for growing algae it's good the bucket is in the sun, but it's probably not enough

I use the same hatchery to grow the babies for my exclamation point rasboras. Was considering growing them bigger for them, and now after seeing your video, it looks like the adult shrimp are almost as big as my rasboras! LOL, I didn't know they got that big! 😆 I till think I'll try growing them and see what happens. They are very cool looking as adults. Thanks so much, I seen so many complicated systems and knew there had to be a simpler way, considering how super easy that hatchery is to use. I wonder why more people don't use it? I love mine and have the tiny BBS every day for my fish. Thanks so much for the great video! 😊

Thanks for sharing. I’ve experimented with this to varying degrees of success on a smaller scale. I was concerned about filtration, from your success possibly needlessly so. I have even purchased algae cultures with hopes of a self sustaining system but the algae never took off. Maybe buying some live sand or a bit of live rock might be useful as I don’t keep marine fish so no cycled salt water. I’m going to give this a try.

Brine shrimp are the most nutritious immediately after hatching and before they absorb their yolk sac. Raising them does nothing to help make them any more beneficial to your fish and actually makes them LESS nutritional.

What's the name of that black hachery you have and where did you buy it?

It's the Hobby Brine shrimp Hatchery / Artemia breeding dish. Not the greatest hatch rate without heat and air but works very well and easy!

So example 1/2 cup instant ocean salt per us gallon of water bit this is not exact you really need a refractometer or hydrometer to measure so you get 1.025 if your near a local pet shop they might sell you already mixed water or measure for you as it never mixes up exactly

Umm, hi. I've just now hatched a good number of bbs and it's day 1. I'm planning to grow them into adults. Now, is it necessary to use an air pump in the tub in which I grow them. Or should I just let them be without it?

I have never used one but I'm sure you could if you wanted
