How to make copper sulfate crystals at home? It's actually pretty easy!
👉 SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE CONTENT: / @danvoznak
For the crystal I created was used 1.5 kg of copper sulfate and the experiment lasted almost 6 months. Watch the video for more!
Interesting fact: "Chalcanthite" is a name of mineral made of copper sulfate (CuSO4·5H2O) and it can also grow naturaly, mainly in copper deposits. Its name derives from the Greek, chalkos and anthos (meaning copper flower).

When you occasionally remove the smaller crystals from the bottom, do you grind them up and dissolve them in the water again? Are you adding more water and more copper sulfate through the 6 months?
@danvoznak
@danvoznak 3 года назад
That is definitely way how to grow the crystal almost forever, but no. It is risky. I did it once, but the original crystal dissolved, although the new solution was saturated for sure. I had no idea why it happened.
@rogerhargreaves2272
@rogerhargreaves2272 3 года назад
I’ve tried that. It doesn’t work. Just keep the main Crystal in there and filter every so often until you have no extra crystals growing on the bottom of the vessel.

The biggest problem is that what's left behind is impurities and copper sulpgate. The impurities can be removed through a recrystalization procedure. Save and set aside all the small crystals untill your done growing your big crystal from your first copper sulfate bath. The remaining bath you grew your big crystal in will have impurities that have collected and concentrated. 1) Pull your big crystal out. 2) Then recover the remaining copper sulphate by boiling the solution unill it it's so super saturated it starts to form crystals while it boils. 3) Remove heat and let cool. Once cooled let it cool further in a fridge. Over night. 4 The next day should remove the crystals the new small crystals . What you'll have is relativly pure crystals and concentrated contamination remaining in solution. 4) you might try to recover additional copper sufphate and reprocess the contaminated solution but you'll likely get less and less copper sulphate with increasing levels of contamination. 5) Now take all your small crystals from the big crystal grown and the copper suplhate recovery, and do a second recrystalization. The crystals you collect from your second recrystalization will be a very high purity, and the remaining contaminated solution can be further processed later to recover remaining copper sulphate. 6) After your second recrystalization you will have very high purity but small crystals. You may now redisolve them in distilled warm water untill virtually all the crystals are disolved. Then let cool to ambient temp. 7) Filter off crystals that formed while cooling. 8) Your new batch of copper suplate solution is now purified and saturated at room temp and ready to reinsert the big crystal and resume its growth.

Kdyz to tam nechas moc dlouho, tak ti sul krystalizuje na nadobe na care hladiny a po teto vykrystalizovane soli ti roztok vzlina nahoru a krystalizuje tam dalsi a dalsi sul. Sul krystalizuje i na dne nadoby. Proto se koncentrace roztoku snizuje a krystal se muze dokonce i zmensovat, misto aby rostl. Takze pravidelne cistit a pokud je potreba, doplnovat sul do roztoku.
