Truly breathtaking, and my heart's delight! When Geoff says his garden is looking "good", it's a massive understatement. As an avid perennial, shrub and vegetable gardener, I would love to expand my gardens by creating a similar dahlia wonder-world. However, given my husband isn't as keen about gardening, the project and associated maintenance would likely take too great a toll on my marriage. Thank you, Geoff and Heather, for the vicarious thrills your videos bring. Happy gardening, all!
Had the pleasure of going to the open event this year. Having watched lots n lots of the videos over the last couple of years, Geoff & Heather have been our inspiration for dahlias. We get lots of compliments from passers by of our dahlia garden, but having visited their garden the videos don’t do it justice, it’s absolutely breathtaking and I would recommend any flower grower to pay it a visit. The time, effort and planning that goes into this is true dedication ( obviously supported by Heather’s cuppa’s). Met some lovely friendly people at the show event (Alan & Sue) who chatted to us using learnt knowledge from Geoff. We came away with 2 top tips, first was from Geoff, part of a good compost heap is leaves 🍁, so we are literally leaf collecting today and secondly was Heather’s top tip on dampening the compost bin ( let’s just say it’s too far for Geoff to walk back to the house to use the loo, hahaaaaa, that is now Andrews new pastime). Look forward to next years event and will be bringing friends with us too. Keep up the good work Geoff and Heather and I wonder if the people flying to Manchester airport can see our dahlia garden too. Regards from Andrew & Julie
I have seen all of your brilliant videos, your camera & camerawork have improved over the years. I have particularly enjoyed your chat & commentary this last year. Many thanks.
Sure is a colorful garden. I think if you had a section without peddles, you could school people on why, how and the wonder of cross pollination. I'd be happy to sit with a cup of coffee and hear the ins and outs of that process. Look forward to seeing what comes of your efforts.
Love all your videos ,I saw the one where you stored your tubers before I got into dahlias ,now I can’t find it are you going to do another one .? your way of explaining is down to earth and easy to follow and Heathers sense of humour lightens the day .🤣🥰
I love the colors & plants you put with all those incredible Dahlia! How do you get so many Dahlia blooms to bloom at the same time on your plants! Heather is fabulous! you both make Wonderful video & Dahlia garden inspiration! I wish I could show with my garden photos how you have influenced me! Thank you! Hello from New Jersey, USA 👋
Love your collection and info shared here! How do you keep rabbits out of dahlia beds? My limited collection has a hard time making to blooming with leaves.
We love your videos. Having never grown dahlias before, I have a question: In the spring you have many flowering bulbs like tulips, daffodils bluebells, etc. These are in the areas where you plant the dahlias. What do you do with all of these bulbs? Do you leave them and plant dahlias among them or remove and replant in the fall after the dahlias are lifted? Thanks.
Hi Debbie. I leave all my bulbs in the ground. In general I try to put them in places where I’m not planning to grow dahlias. However if I dig a bulb up whilst planting a dahlia, I stick it back in the ground nearby, they are pretty resilient. Before I start planting out dahlias I try to remove all the leaves from the tulips etc, because they harbour slugs which would eat the dahlias next.
hola amiga y amigos me da mucho gusto verte éste ermosas flores aquí en mi país de Guatemala municipio de San Miguel acatan de partamento de Huehuetenango C, A
Absolutely wonderful garden. It is radiant and beautiful. Completely reflects the love, time and care invested in it ❤️ What is the Aster variety planted behind rudbeckia? It looks amazing and just what I am looking for in terms of hight, colour and pollinator -friendly. Please share the variety if it’s known 🙏🏻
Gorgeous lovely video! Could you kindly tell me the name of the beautiful salmon colored semi cactus pictured at the 16:00 mark, it's a stunner! Thank you! 😊
Am I correct in assuming your pot Dahlias are this years cuttings? You don't let them flower at all this season? Do you lift them the same time as all the others?
Hi Lesley. I do see snails from time to time, but I try to eradicate slugs and snails in the very early spring. I broadcast pellets in February, March and April before the dahlias are planted out.
Yes. Sounds similar to my investigation. I read that it is possible to prune off the older June flowers to get later, smaller repeat flowering. Might be worth contacting the parks team in Leeds too - just to make sure.
