Thank you for this video! My seedlings are now about 4-5" tall and I'm wondering if I should plant them in larger pots? I'm in Toronto to and wondering when they should go into the garden too! Nervous they won't survive the winter here - any insights?

Oh I love this! The info and your potting bench with the terracotta and board and batten backdrop. This is the look I'm going for. Something so calming about a good 'ol potting bench. Was just given black Hollyhock seeds from a gardening friend and I don't want to mess them up. I'm in Zone5 🇨🇦 if I started them indoors right now (Christmas) with grow lights etc I wonder if they'd flower this year? It's worth a try with half the seeds. 👍🏻

They might. But probably not. That being said you’ll get wonderful flowers when they do flowers in their second year.

Did the seeds that you put on the new paper towel not sprout or were these additional seeds. Sorry, I got confused. Do you start all your seeds in the fall/winter? Thanks

I started all the seeds 2 weeks ago. some of the seeds had sprouted while others were just starting. I potted the seedlings and put the rest back into the bag to give them more time. in the end, all the seed sprouted and I now have two trays of hollyhocks.

I'm just starting some holly hock seeds on a paper towel the same way you are showing in your video:-) They are old seeds given to me from a packet though. They have been sitting on a warm mat for 5 days and I'm hooooping they sprout! Do you have any input on ideal conditions for germination? You said a Temperature but I didn't catch it... Do you know if it helps to use a grow light?

I have 1 package. I'm not using them next year, the mold makes it hard for me to breathe.
