Hit 👍 as soon as I saw Foxgloves!!! Because our last name is Fox my Dad always made sure to plant many of them every year!!! In fact, he would collect the seeds from the dried seed pods each year (from those he didnt let just reseed for the next year). He would then keep his pockets full of them & when we were out walking - or somewhere - he didn't think was "enough color" he would then throw handfuls out. Sometimes probably in places he probably wasn't supposed too!😬🤫😉😅 I love my Dad & miss him so much! He was such a great man. Much of the reason I love gardening I inherited from him!!!😊💙💐

In latin, Vulpis means fox and in Italian, the name Vulpe means the same. So, if you come across that surname, they're a "Fox" too. (Others named Fox might have changed their name to Fox after emigrating to an English-speaking country.) 😀

I'm so glad you did a video on Foxglove. I have admire these in my neighbors yard for about the past 5 yrs. Last year she asked if I wanted some small baby plants before the frost got them. I brought them inside and planted them in a nice size pot and kept them over winter and planted them outside come Spring. They are doing so good, can't wait to see what color I got from her, she has two different colors. Also went to the nursery and bought a beautiful purple color. I raise honeybees and have been told they are Great for pollinators.

Your ‘Dalmatian Peach’ foxgloves are some beautiful. For whatever reason I didn’t have good luck with them this year but I’ll go back to them again because they’ve always done so well for me. Good to point out the toxicity because a lot of people are concerned about that but honestly there are far more plants we grow in the garden that are toxic to humans or animals than there are non-toxic plants.

With all that is going on it has been very stressful. I never knew that I enjoyed gardening. It all started with watching your lemon tree video and enjoying it so much I watched so many more from there. Now I know how to take care of all of my perennials that were already at our house and have SO many plans for our yard in the future. Would LOVE to add these to our garden. Would these work in containers? We have a dog that chases squirrels and I would be afraid shed plow these over!

Your Foxgloves are gorgeous. Now, my Dalmation Peach did not bloom the first year but that is my garden, They bloomed this year. To try to ensure I get blooms next year I will steal seeds from the bottom of the spike (from the first blossoms), start them indoors then move them out before frost, I will also shake the stalks after blooming to ensure dispersal. I LOVE how you answer the toxic question. You have such grace when i kinda feel deep down what you may want to say lol or at least i would want to say but probably never do. All kids are different when it comes to this kind of stuff though. I had my 1st two 15 months apart and those two got into NOTHING. They were easy. Then 8 yrs later I thought oh i want to have 1 more and ohhhhhh boyyyyyy that girl still hasn't stopped getting into trouble 16 yrs later. I love how you explained educating Benjaman. These day kids are too protected in some ways and left alone in other ways and it really is creating a huge mess. I heard a joke on Dry Bar Comedy about kids and how they are treated like glass. He almost got a ticket cause he didn't have a shade on his back window for his grandchild. He was floored. He said we didn't have sunscreen when i was a kid...u know what we used....DIRT. We played in dirt and had it all over our faces from eating it. no room for sunburn lol. Sorry i rambled as usual. Lonely person I am. I love those foxgloves but ever since i saw the veronica (i think) i was mesmerized. It is like they are glowing. Perfect for a moon garde i think. And of course i caught that tail go by. So beautiful! Can you show how you harvest the seed later on? Do you avoid raking and remulching the areas with foxgloves so that the seeds can germinate the following year or do they just wind up making their way back to the top? I know you said they require light to germinate. Also thanks so much for the seed starting video you did about these. I used the premoistened soil tip and my seedlings came up days earlier. Could always be luck but the more appropriate moisture levels are getting the credit. 😉

"I don't know everything there is to know about Foxgloves, but I've had really good luck with them." Laura, you have really good luck with pretty much everything in the garden. 🤣

Laura, I planted foxglove for the first time too! I feel so excited also! I’m not sure which variety right now, but they are a light, bluish-purple. It’s awesome to know that we connect on the excitement level of “I grew that!” I can’t wait to have them re-seed and to have more. Thanks for this informational video. It really helped!

Great information! Thank you so much. I was inspired by a lot of your plants and wanting to try out now. And yes, growing from seed has a particularly good feeling

They are so pretty and you have inspired me enough to try and grow some foxgloves from seeds this winter.

we grew up next to lake michigan and were taught to have a a healthy respect for it. And we were taught about the woods and what was safe and what wasn't. I found that with plants for my kids as well.

Just beautiful, I'm glad you answered my question about the animals. My fur babies are all although my area they dont destroy anything but rub against my flower, and smelling them lol. But those are just so beautiful.

I'm so intimate when I look at them that I can't grow them from seeds but listening to your encouragement I'm gonna give it a try. Like you said I'll fail miserably or succeed. Nothing to loose.

I am not an entry level gardener - I know enough to get by fairly well - but I always learn something from Laura and Garden Answers. I want to put in foxgloves next year and this was very helpful.
