Nasturtiums are one of the easiest flowers to grow and besides having benefits for the garden they are great in salads and a side to many dishes.
One other aspect that people don't know is that they are great immune boosters and can be made in to tincture for a boost for your health at any time of the year.
Nasturtium can act both as a disinfectant and as a healing agent, and all parts of the plant have strong antibiotic and antimicrobial properties.
It's great healing and preventive properties are well know and in this video we will be making some nasturtium tincture.

Nasturtium flowers and leaves make an amazing pesto. Delicious on a sandwich. I was obsessed with eating this with last pregnancy 🤣 didn't know I could eat the seed. My toddler used to eat them. I love this flower and can't wait to grow again this year.

I'm growing nasturtium's this year after not growing them for a few years. My seeds surprised me, they're still viable after 3 years. Although I do keep them in the refrigerator. I accidentally took them out and forgot to put them back in the refrigerator last winter. Almost every seed I planted has grown just fine.

Yes they are resilient, we have them growing all over. They self seeded.

@@crystalb5457 I'm not sure we used a mixture if seeds that we got from botanical interest It's the trailing mix from them.

I may have missed how often you can take it? As a preventive when you're not sick, and is the dose/how often the same for children? Thanks for any response!❤

Interesting. Just found your channel. Just learning about Nasturtiums. After the 4 weeks, what then? Do you strain out the liquid and throw away the leaves? Then, do you store in the fridge or on a kitchen shelf? And how much would you say you take, when you do take it? A teaspoon? And last, do you actually "make" your own grain alcohol, or do you know a source from where to buy a suitable grain alcohol. Beautiful garden!

Hi Thanks for visiting our channel and all the great questions. After 4 weeks strain the alcohol and transfer it to a glass bottle. I like to use brown bottles. Store the tincture away from the sun, I store ours in our cabinet. When taking it you can mix it with water or tea. I usually take about a teaspoon with herbal tea. I purchase our grain alcohol at local liquor store in Oregon. Thanks for visiting and subscribe to our channel.

Thank you. Mine has huge leaves, still ok to use? Can i put a weight on leaves to make sure they are submerged?

Just noticed and watched your video. I'm glad I learned about making the antibiotic tincture. But really dismayed how you treated the kitten. Why have a pet if you cant treat it more kindly? Kitten probably just wanted some affection. Shame on you.

Thanks for watching, our kitten now a full grown cat 🐈 is a happy part of our homestead. Sleeps on our furniture and loves playing with young chick's. There is step right bellow on the other side so it looks worse than it is on video.
