Ours have been planted from seeds by squirrels. They started producing in about 10 years. The first summer we saw the catkins blooming we were so ecstatic but everything was covered with yellow pollen dust. This year we had a bumper harvest. The fresh nuts are so tasty. In the meanwhile, take care of your trees with pecan fertilizer, zinc spray and good pruning. We also throw some alfalfa feed pellets around the tree trunks too. Happy planting!

Thank you. I have collected many fallen pecans. Cracking and Shelling them became much easier after they were allowed to open air, inside, dry for 3-4 weeks. I also have had the most success by using a set of 10 Inch Groove Joint Pliers to crack them.

Sorry I did not explain better, With nuts and acorns, you put them in water and in most cases the viable nuts will sink. The bad ones will float. This is not 100% but is a pretty good indicator. Acorns you know almost immediately, but nuts sometimes take a little longer to sink.

Question, but first thanks for the inspiration I have 5 pecan sprouts about a foot high now, but when I first attempted, I used everything you did in your pecan videos, same trays, same fertilizer and mix ratios of perlite and peat moss. I did three trays like this and in all three they started to sprout, but I could not keep my peat moss mix moist. I would water it before and after work but it dried incredibly fast and killed all the sprouts, did you ever run into this issue and if so, how do you keep the trays with that mixture moist?
@succulentqueen7737
@succulentqueen7737 10 месяцев назад
I know what you mean. Next time you could try wetting the potting mix thoroughly before adding it to the pots, then keep an eye on the pots and water them before letting them dry out completely to keep them damp. Once it dries out it seems to repel water. Another option is to put a tray of water underneath your pots, and they will soak up the water from the bottom. (Just dump out remaining water every once & a while to avoid getting mosquitoes).

Hi! I just identified some leaves from plants that appeared out of nowhere in my front yard - four of them and they are growing very quickly - identified on a plant identifier app as pecan trees. Is this possible? I am in Northern California. The leaf, with its pointed tip and serrated edges, looks exactly like the leaf of the pecan tree in photos. I have no idea why these trees would be going growing here except that I did feed pecans to wild turkeys for a while a few years back. Any ideas? Thanks

you will find your tap root coiled up like a spring by useing those tiny plastic pots pecans are not like other plants the have a very long tap root for support as they mature may be 8-10 ft long stright down starting in a big pot gives the tap root room to grow i put mine in a 5 gal bucket good for a couple years or more that i dont have to keep fooing with it leave alone wet when it needs it dont let it dry out after about 6 months from seed leave it out side year round one other thing i see people do is plant the seed standing up i need s to be laying flat the reason is the root and stem grow out from same crack in seed one goes up one go down if it on its side if not one of will go into a uturn not good later in life-------good luck

Most fruit trees are openly-pollinated, That means you have no control of the DNA that pollinates each flower. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the fruit of the seedling will look anything like the parent fruit. Most fruit trees whether it is apples or pecans are grafted to carry the desired DNA lineage.

Yashua - you know Him as Jesus - was born to a virgin, turned water to wine, taught, healed the sick, raised the dead, casted out demons, walked on water, and calmed the storm, among many other things. He was killed, and three days later He rose from the dead. Forty days later He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is returning very soon, but before He does, Satan, the devil, is coming to pretend to be Jesus. Satan is an angel, and he will have certain supernatural powers with which to try to fool everyone. He will, for example, be able to make fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He will only be on earth a short time before the real King of Kings, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, returns. When the real Jesus comes we will all be transformed into our spiritual bodies at the same moment. Jesus came to offer forgiveness of sins and eternal life to anyone who believes and calls on His precious name! ...the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 6:23 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - John 3:16-18 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. - Matthew 26:6-13 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. - Zephaniah 1:14 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. - Luke 9:56 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23 Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
