I might be in the miniority but I am hoping the cinema is a rabbit hole because sims don't ever just sit down and watch anything. It'd be a waste of a feature if sims don't interact with it properly.
Lol I can confirm - I have an outdoor theatre and while Sims actually do sit down well, I had to get a small mod for them to stay engaged with the film and STOP TALKING halfway through. They also can only really interact with the screen from the first 2 rows, so the back is more for storytelling purposes (and places to make out lol)
i feel like the family dynamic system will eventually become base game in a very broad sense, there’s been a lot of features that previously were part of packs and a version of it because free. i’ve also seen a lot of people that were kind of disappointed about teens not getting anything in this pack too. which i don’t think is fair because we just had a whole expansion pack for teens and no one else. i think the rest of the family deserves something, and being a family orientated player, i’m super excited to see another trailer and what game play is going to be invested in this. i might actually tolerate toddlers if they have some actual personality
yeah I'm not upset about no focus on teens- honestly I'm happy they included elders! I don't think added focus on teens at least much would make sense here - that is, I'd rather them focus on the aspects here because elders, middle life etc doesn't really have anything
To be honest I'm kind of tired of all of the teen focused and child focused Gen Z/Alpha stuff that we've been seeing and I'm really happy and excited for, like Erin said, something a little more versatile
@@NoDecaf7 something for kids and under is something that we've been really needing. I'm also excited cause children are finally getting new aspirations
I think, over looking the teens in this expansion. Is a miss opportunity. But, I don't mind it. Because they took the focus away from teens. The Sim team was able to put the focus somewhere else. Like on the Family Dynamic System.
I think the theater will definitely be a rabbit hole. Kind of like all the rides in high school years. I'm looking forward to the infant update. They look so adorable.
If I knew for sure this was made by the same internal team that made Werewolves, I would preorder it, even though I almost never play families with children. Werewolves was an amazing pack that I am happy to have even though I rarely play actual werewolves and already had a mod for that. The pack was just so well made and the game world is great. I am convinced there are actually different internal teams working partly in parallel. That would explain the seesaw quality of the packs.
I was so impressed to hear of all the infants will do, but then blown away that they are updating toddlers. I am getting really good Sims 2 babies vibes from these infants.
I agree, many creators should get a shot at a piece of a world, not just the same ones over and over. The treehouse may be like the rocketship, but with swatches.
@@rosameryrojas-delcerro1059 that'd be really cool- my thought though is that these builds appear to have restrictions and certain requirements- they also have to use the new pack materials
I felt like kind of a jerk when i was disappointed when hearing who the creators where that build sone of the packs… but like i would have loved to see creators like oshinsim en xurban make some of these houses, cuz i loved their family gameplays… i the choices with cottage living where super nice and though yay more of my faves, but not this time i guess 😢
Over Christmas my husband and I visited his parents in California. We visited Gilroy gardens which was a small amusement park, and as soon as I saw the neighborhood called Gilbert Gardens I figured it was named that on purpose given the San Fransico-ish world
yyeah it really all aligns imo. A lot of people on twitter are still saying the bridge looks like somewhere from south korea but that doesn't really fit for the names, imo
There's also the Fisherman's Wharf in SF and there's an area called the Anchorpoint Wharf in the new world! My fiancé and I also visited last Christmas and New Years. I'd love to see the Gilroy gardens next time!
I see so many mods that do a lot of this now becoming obsolete, and I'm ok with that. I can clean my folder out, and I love that they'll be built into the game, like self soother, and the changing table. I am truly excited for this pack, and might even try a little family game play again, lol. Great video!
a refreshing take- I know some that love when mods interesect, but I think it's best overall for features like this to be available to all players without
It's a total win win for me. My mods are mainly fixes or just added gameplay. If the game introduces the same gameplay, I will happily remove what's unneeded or redundant (and if it doesn't work well, back in they go -- looking at you, Prom mod 😆)
I'm very hopeful for this pack. In the past, I have created small movie theaters like you might find in a small town. I would use one of the giant televisions and put a coffee shop in the lobby, The lot type was cafe to draw sims in. Then, I would make any sims in the building part of my group and have them all sit together and watch a movie or two. It worked fairly well. Thanks Erin.
I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I’d really love if the pack unlocked a new career in elder or child care; I’m so so excited about this pack, and I hope you’re doing well!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I plan to buy it on day 1 despite potential bugs. I have 3 running saves that need this! So much potential that I'll risk the bugs. Also, with how popular this pack is going to be, pressure will be high to fix bugs fast.
oh yeah I'm certain the community will be loud about bugs- just hope they are clear about them! sometimes people simply state, my game is broken. props to everyone who reports the bugs
I wonder they would reuse some animations. For example with the splash pad. I think they may use the puddle splashing from seasons or the playing animation from the playgrounds from base game or the tent from DHD. I’m personally on the side of new animations are cool, but if it makes sense to use a preexisting animation, I’m cool with that. We don’t need a different animation for every lever pulling or dollhouse lol
every sims game reuses animations to a degree, and most packs./ I actually am fine with some of that- so long as it's in balance with new gameplay or provides a new experience- so I think we are in agreement :)
I'm super excited about the pack, but I also know that ANY UPDATE BREAKS THE GAME. Having a HUGE update with a new life stage, and new interactions across the board, due to the new life stage, then a new pack with EVEN MORE updates to all of the game, is gonna be buggy. How they respond to it, and how they try to fix it, is what I'm gonna be looking for. Is the livestream running smoothly when they show it off? Are they gonna acknowledge any issues quickly? Etc. I'm excited, but cautious. I'm gonna see it run, then buy. Also, I had the same idea with the creators working on the pack. I was a little surprised that both Deli and Simsie worked on it, after the other packs they worked on. I hope next time there are more smaller creators added, instead of sticking with the big names for clout. I have NO PROBLEMS with Deli and Simsie personally! Deli was my first simmer I ever watched, and I discovered James, Dr. Gluon, Simsie, Clare and more through her! I'm so happy she got the opportunity again, I just hope more builders get recognized too!
livestreams are not all telling but useful at very least seeing how core mechanics work. I do wish they'd show these new packs w/ other packs too, at least some- as that's where additional bugs arise
I agree with you so much about the Sims team share their excitement about the pack before and after release when they are proud of the pack. They didn't do too much with HSY but they went wild with Werewolves. During MWS they were silent before and after which was scary.
I am desperately hoping that "Your sims' family tree will now reflect more complex family relationships" means that things like step-family will be included and that sims won't just randomly drop off family trees anymore. It's annoying when I play a legacy and suddenly, for example, a step-father can romance his stepdaughter once she's a YA, and that they miss out on family sentiments. Family counts as family when it's by marriage as well, and I really hope they've addressed that in this pack. If not, I fear they never will.
I'm interested to see how this pack runs, but the thing I'm truly excited about (not just "oh that'll be nice to use") is the splash pad. We've had that slip n' slide from backyard stuff and its hard to justify using it in builds. With this pack though, we could legitimately make water parks and make pool lots more fun/useable.
I really like almost everything so far. The gurus seem genuinely excited about this one so that says a lot. The only thing i dont really love is that the world is again a US inspired world. I really need an european city, i guess is hard to do with how the lots works on the sims but still. Problably that's more a general ""complain"" not about this particular EP. As per the simmers that build the lots I agree, i would like more variety but also lilsimsie is always building craftman style houses so it makes sense I guess 😂
yes, I honestly do think how the gurus act is telling. They seem to be really into what they did here We are not 100 percent on the world- oddly I see some still arguing it's based in Korea? but to me it does seem American. I will say, it seems to have a lot of functionality in theory, and that's good
I like seeing packs in other cultures, rather than just American culture (I'm Australian - I'd like to see something Australian for a change - Australia is almost never depicted in games at all (certainly never in any Sims game) - we have Dinkum at least), but I think for THIS particular pack, having it American based culture is probably a good idea. Families are different in other cultures - even English speaking countries in Europe. I suspect they made this particular pack American because they went with what they know well - the developers are American, they know American family dynamics well. For another cultures they would have had to research family culture and dynamics to get it right, and families dynamics depicted wrongly can have all sorts of controversy. And at least American family dynamics is known about by most other countries, whereas if they chose a less known culture for family play, it would be more difficult to depict honestly and players might not understand it, particularly American players. To be fair, the developers probably don't know the intricacies of family dynamics at all in other countries like Asian countries, and probably very little about family culture in say France or Italy, or even in England or Australia. In this particular instance, going with what they know well for this particular pack would make it easier to make a well-rounded pack and depict everything well. For this particular pack it makes sense that it's American inspired, much as I tire of everything 'American' inspired.
i dont have a problem w rabbit holes, i like how we can use our imagination besides relying on gameplay that’ll just glitch or bug out because thats natural
I own most EPs but rate only two of them - Get Together & Cottage Living. If this EP can match them and be bug-free, I'll be happy. On a sidenote, I never get party invites anymore. The only calls I get now are "should we have a baby?" and "so-and-so is cute, should I ask them out?".
answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-No-longer-getting-invites-rabbitholes-parties-going-out/td-p/10678816 seems you are not alone, I also saw older threads on this apparently open issue
Thanks for your review, Erin. I like what this pack has to offer. I do think the theater is a "rabbit hole" given the frosted windows and doors with back lighting. That's fine, given how much new gameplay, CAS items, and build/buy items are coming. I'm also certain that since we're getting three worlds, the number of playable lots will be small.
On the horses thing, I would like for them to refresh my first pet stuff pack and add them along with other animals such as turtles, snakes etc. With cottage living, I just don’t know what expansion they could add with them. Maybe I’m just not thinking broad enough!
Ah, alas I don't think a sp refresh is in the cards: the survey only let us vote on game packs and expansions.. I truly hope we do get some more refreshes though
@@SimmerErin I'm still hoping for a Dine-Out refresh, it's so badly needed and I really want my Sims to be able to eat out without something going wrong or it taking forever to eat a meal lol.
@@SimmerErin oh I didn’t know that! Whoops lol. I also hope for more refreshes. The price of all the dlc is insane lol so it’d be nice to get it content for the packs you already have.
This might sound bizarre, but the thing that intrigues me most are the sleeping bags. I really hope they are portable (i.e. can be carried in the character's inventory) and can be popped down anywhere, so could be used when camping or for "homeless" Sim scenarios.
that's not weird! I hadn't even thought about it but now I'm very intrigued how much they can be used in different situations. I hope they're pretty flexible
The infant update is probably going to be huge and then adding another expansion pack makes me wonder just how well it will perform. I really do hope that they are doing extensive bug testing because the pack does have a lot of potential.
it certainly is a lot to add, and potentially substantial content. I imagine it's challenging in of itself, let alone with a game old as sims 4 is, with so much content. hope it goes well, though
Kinda what I expected; a pack that is heavily focused on the earlier life stages, with some content that applies to all age groups. I think that’s great. In game I currently just kinda wait until my sims kids grow up because they, while often cute, don’t have much going on with them or much to do. This looks like it could help even things out a bit and make my favorite type of gameplay style (family) pretty damn fun. I am super curious to see how it works with other packs (like parenthood, etc). Great coverage of what we know! Cant wait to see more in early March.
I hadn't seen all the Guru comments on Twitter, so thank you for sharing that!! The family dynamics connection could maybe somehow evolve into an attraction system in the future! This pack does seem pretty promising. I am looking forward to the infant and toddler quirks in the pack, I hope they're done well but also not annoying lol
Thank you for the update. I never know what is said on twitter so it's nice that you tell us. I am really interested in this pack and want to purchase it but I will wait for it to go on sale, and hopefully all the bugs will be worked out as there are always something wrong on release day.
Definitely feeling more and more hyped for the first time in a looooong time as one of those family legacy type players! Thanks Erin! Much love to you and thanks for the killer coverage as always.
I hope the splash pads are movable and not a fixture of the new world. I could use them in several parks like the waterfront in Newcrest and San Myshuno Meadows to name a couple. Also, at the beginning of the trailer they had what looks like a senior community center. Looks like we will finally going to get more interactions with the elder sims. 🥳 Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 😀
answered here- well I guess not 100 percent, but like I said, the guru indicated they would be able to be used elsewhere yep, they definitely did include elders, and that def surprised me.
I have a feeling attraction will be apart of that cause if your sims can meet and not connect with your sim in turn couldn't be attracted to that sim, so I think based on how much your sims likes or hates a sim when they meet is how compatible they will be.
it's possible, it's also possible it will likewise be expanded later. I'd welcome that- as I've honestly wanted a system that goes beyond simple more artificial turns and turn offs It's the feature I am the most confused but likewise interested in
@@SimmerErin yeah i definitely have to see more of it, but I hope I am atleast right to some extent cause it'll be interesting to see how dating in the sims works in this aspect
I hope it also means that some sims won’t immediately take to new family members (like the siblings being upset about a new baby or the in laws not being super thrilled with the marriage, etc). I wonder if that’s the drama they said will be coming!
I think the chemistry is outside the family as well- if you read the summary on the expansion pack info online, they talk about meeting sims at a party- therefore it's probably preferences outside of the family as well as within- wither way, expanded family game play is super exciting to me- I really hope the launch goes well TT-TT can't wait for the live stream
I did read the blog, in this video: so it sounds like an overal compatibility system, and it's certainly within the family. It would make sense to impact other sims, though the details of it are a tad confusing to me. It's certainly compelling. I don't know for certain it will include romantic attraction too
Plus I don’t think we should expect completely no bugs or glitches. As long as the bugs are relatively minor ( a small lighting glitch or clipping) I think it will be ok. As long as the bugs are manageable.
For me, infants are the best thing the sims has ever done. I have never been so excited for anything in the sims franchise (I started with sims 2) I’m going to be glued to the game more than I ever have before 😂
I hope the treehouse does have more than just swatch style customisation but I'm not expecting it. I also think the cinema will be a rabbit hole but not going to lie, I'd love to build a custom working cinema as a lot type. Have a great rest of the weekend Erin.
I appreciate you helping us non-twitterpated people see some of the information from that platform here. Am I the only one who keeps eyeing the artwork board behind the elders putting together a puzzle with the child? Does it have swatches of art or is it an interactive new way to display the art made by sims? SOOOooooo many questions.
interactive would be really cool. I'll go the safe route and say decor is more likely, but I have a feeling they have several surprises up their sleeves
Werewolf babies go “awhoo” when they cry, toddlers think the werewolves are super cool/werewolf teething and children get angry more when they are a werewolf. In general I would love more cross pack integration like this. There are so many GOOD details the game, but only for specific packs and rarely integrated across packs.
true, true,.. I do wonder how much cross pack integration will come in play for infants especially occults. This pack and the update in general has a lot of potential- and I think connections though are so key. it's an area I sometimes feel sims 4 is a little weak in. I love when I see pack integration
Thank you for this. I looked at the blog post but I find lately when I read something with too much information all at once I definitely miss stuff. I'm cautiously optimistic. I like everything I hear about this pack but I really want to see actual gameplay. What you're saying about compatibility makes sense but I would love if they also made it at least for friends. Like adeepingo's Dynamic Teen mod gives teens 2 friends and a nemesis when they start highschool and it would be fun for kids to have kids they don't necessarily like at first but have to get to know and work at becoming friends with or Sims who you just don't click with because of traits. Because right now it's too easy to form relationships
It's a lot to take in, really- maybe ironically too because there are many lingering questions. Yes, I do hope compatibility extends beyond the family. It sounds neat, but also sounds like it would make sense to use as a template not merely how families connect but how sims react to each other in general. One of my greatest hopes for sims 4 has been to improve sims and make them and their interactions feel more unique- not an easy task
I am so excited for this pack. The only things I want so far is more teen gameplay and active daycare career. I know we had high school years, but that doesn’t have anything to do family game play. I want things for teens because teens are family too. I want to see how they react to younger siblings, grandparents and other family members. I want to see them babysit their siblings and be annoyed with them and have cute moments with them. This is a family pack and I am really hope that teens are not isolated from the family. Overall I am excited
I presume teens will be involved in the overall say compatibility system- and while I'm ok with gameplay not specific for them I do hope they have fun or meaningful interactions amongst family members
The cinema makes sense as a rabbit hole and it’s a rabbit hole I’m ok with. The things I’m not ok with being rabbit holes are things like the Ferris wheel (I would love for them to make an amusement park game pack or something 😭). I know I’ve said this repeatedly in other places but this is feeling like a real old school Maxis Sims EP. Still cautiously optimistic because given 4’s long history it would be silly to not be cautious but it’s sounding like they’re putting a lot of love into this. Cottage Living felt the same for me and made me hopeful for a bit, and Cottage Living is what has kept bringing me back to 4 after long breaks from it. I didn’t get this same feeling with HSY when it was being introduced which is also why I’m more on the optimistic side of caution. Also I really want a lot of this right now! 😊
Also i think it would be cool to see sessions make a come BACK too. That was actually FUN time while playing sims 4. Haveing ur sims go to a concert was cool idea for the game as well as being a good time for the players and thier own sims. So its be cool to see that come BACK to sims 4 again. 👍✌
Judging by those tweets it sounds like this was made by the team that made Cottage Living and Werewolves so I'm a little less apprehensive about this pack now! I'm excited for the gameplay stream :D
3 things i would LIKE to see in for Sims 4 or possibly in sims 5. 1. Horses 2. Faires 3. Bands. Or, some kinds of a bands pack At leaste. And So long as its either in game packs or an Expansion pack. NOT in the Kits. 👍✌
Honestly I feel all of those are quite possible. we have had many hints and even surveys for both bands and fairies. and.. I guess horses are looking for more likely. I don't feel any could fit in kits nor do I think we are getting any more gameplay kits, so I assume you are safe there
i want something music related so badly especially since singing and the instrument skills are my favourite. also never cared about horses but recently ive actually been wanting them. at least we know theres a high chance we're getting them hopefully they start adding more stuff that people want since theyve been doing that with the last three packs since they were ones a lot of people have been wanting.
My hope is that "social compatibility" just means that sims will make friends with some sims easier than others. Given how the game rewards friends to lovers, social compatibility sounds like a great way to make romance more meaningful and less random.
*What do you think? We will get amything for the teens?* I am afraid that they totally left out them because the HS expansion… because I think the older brother/sister is also an important part of growing up, same with graduation
I'm guessing nothing super specific for them- but keep in mind I didn't think they'd honestly include elders. But seeing as we just got HSY I have some doubts. Of course, I expect them to be included in the compatibility system and such, just not sure they will get gameplay specific for them
so two things... first of all i completely agree with you about their diversity issue when it comes to picking simmers to collab with. i mean let's face it, from a business perspective its no coincidence that the simmers they usually pick to collab with also happen to be the ones with the biggest social media followings, and therefore the biggest audience reach for promotion. i don't really blame them for that choice because it IS smart from a business side of things, but it would still be nice to see them prop up and promote smaller people once in a while. talent at building, creating sims etc isnt tied to your social media following size. second thing is that im trying to keep my expectations reasonable here. i mean between the trailer and the blog post maxis is basically promising to give us the sun, the moon, and the stars right now. and in my experience with the sims 4, it feels like the more concepts and features they try to add at once, the more each one becomes watered down, and turns into a rough draft idea at best instead of a full blown game changing feature. it feels like maxis does best when they have one or two features to put all their effort into (like with werewolves as a life state and their trait system) instead of when they try to add all of the things they are supposedly adding to this pack (like how high school became a watered down feature in a pack ABOUT high school lol). not saying they CANT accomplish making all of this good in one pack, but my concern is still there.
For sure, part of it is marketing, and the most well known simmers make sense. On the other hand, maybe they could headline with one big simmer and mix it with the rest. Also, even amongst big simmers I think there's a lot to tap into! I'd also love to continue to see cas collabs and such. I know it's always a cost benefit analysis, so in a way that makes sense for them. And nope, no blame on the creators at all! Yes, it's.. a lot more than I expected. On one hand, that's potentially great, on the other it makes me pause and wonder how much depth each feature has, if that makes sense?
i mean i expect there to be bugs, but i personally don't really mind tbh. i'll have to start a new save while i wait for my mods to update. i'm probably gonna want to play with infants RIGHT when they come out, but im going to want to play them with the pack on my main save. i'm probably going to be buying it at some point in April
I don't mind light bugs at all- only things that are truly hard to play through= things like crashing for console players or the extent of issues when MWS released. I am used to sims games having bugs, and don't think mild ones are that surprising or awful, tbh
People should never assume something is coming to the game when it says not everything you see will be in the game until guru’s confirm it, it happens all the time and I don’t understand why people run with it, I usually have an idea what is coming in packs and usually wait until it’s confirmed before I get too excited, which it doesn’t bother me about the video camera because it would just lag even more imo.🤷🏻♀️
Amazing video ! I am a wondering if a tooth fairy bear npc is going to appear though, as there appears to be a few references to them. I am hoping there is strong cross pack comparability with parenthood, hsy, and I hope this pack adds an inheritance system since there was a reference to it in the blog with elders watching over the box. The blog mentioned an preference system with enemies, friends, and family so I am thinking that something akin to an attraction system would arrive. Growing together is mostly a family pack from what I can tell, but you also grow with friends as well. So I think that there will be some touching up on relationships other than family relationships, at least I hope so.
It's definitely heavily hinted. we had the first teaser on twitter, and then several motifs in the video, and then of course we know kids lose their teeth- and you can I think see them earn money from it. Idk how it'll work, but I'd be surprised to not have some element of that and yes.. HSY and parenthood at very least for cross pack gameplay, some have also mentioned seasons. I know that is a tall task and no doubt challenging- but this is the type of pack that truly should build on other packs. Yes, I read the blog in this video. Its certainly interesting- I am not entirely sure how this compatibility system will work. It compels me, but I have so many questions
I really gotta admit to myself and as you were mentioned in the video about the treehouse, i'm definitely excited for that one too as well and last one for not hoping at least, i hope they knows what they're doing, because i just can't really..idk what's even happening in this game, lately
I'm not actually that much of a family player, but I'm all for those who ARE getting more content for the younger set. And it's not like my Sims wouldn't enjoy puzzles and having special milestones and the like! Even if it's more a "platonic attraction" system, that's still something! I want to be hopeful, but I'm not getting my expectations up too high -- as you said, we've had things that were supposed to add depth in the past that ended up much more like window dressing.
yeah I'd argue you really don't have to be a family player to get good out of this pack. If well done, the social dynamics system and activities really could use a variety of ways. I'm intrigued but cautious
Ok to compare, I'd say it's already including quite a lot for a generations pack, especially for sims 4. I mean when you really look at sims 3 generations, it may have made the game better, but there also wasn't really all that much to that pack either. So I feel this one is about equivalent and maybe even includes more
I think generations imo had the advantage of a really strong base game to connect to. I wouldn't say more is better, but depth. But they certainly are making an excellent effort here it seems at least. I guess we'll see how it all works out. It's simply different, a tad different focus. Lots of intersections, but done differently
To me it seems so weird that they would use the video camera as a storytelling motif if its not real bc weve had it in past games. Hard for me 2 remeber as someone who doesnt play anymore the TS4 is just always missing a lot and adds very few things that arent decorative. (Just the nature of the game atp)
The gurus did seem pretty excited about the Werewolves pack which from what I saw/read here on YT from various simmers, the pack was pretty well received with minimal bugs. In contrast they didn't seem excited about MWS, and I think it makes sense that they wouldn't hype up a pack that they know is broken. It's not their fault if it's rushed by EA and they have to release it before it's done, so I'm sure they were quite well aware the pack wasn't working. I'm not going to buy this pack unless it's on sale because I'm always budgeting on this game (I literally don't buy packs that aren't on sale lol, I think the only pack I bought full price was Outdoor Retreat? MAYBE Get Together but I don't remember on that one), but it does look nice so far. I'm mainly interested in the treehouse, though it will probably be huge (like, the kind of thing you'd want a 50x50 or 64x64 lot for so it doesn't take up all the space on the lot). You're completely right about the emotion system. All this new stuff sounds great on paper but the way the system actually works within the game is very bland. Emotions have a timer which makes sense, but most of the time particular emotions override all the other emotions /too much/. Like, of course you can be angry about something but still having fun and being happy when talking with a friend, like maybe you got in a fight with someone and are angry about it but a friend cheered you up. It just falls short in Sims 4 because the secondary emotions behind the main active emotion basically don't impact anything. If you see someone is sad about a loved one dying but it's not the primary emotion (i.e. if the emotion that's active doesn't say "sad" with the blue background and their current mood is happy with the green background), they're not really going to react like they're sad about something and just having random bouts of "I'm happy right now but still sad about this thing and it affects me from time to time". I've had sims flip through emotions within seconds of each other and it makes the overall system not very interesting to play around with. I'm interested in the world too, but I would guess it won't beat Windenburg lol. So far for me the best worlds have been Windenburg and Henford-on-Bagley, so while I hope this new world can be up there with them, I'm keeping my expectations grounded because I feel like the really good worlds are a lot more rare.
indeed- it's almost a shame as werewolves had such a short promo window before HSY was announced. It was not a perfect pack- but still strong and fairly well done, and I swear there is a notable difference in enthusiasm. it is not a guarantee, just maybe? I hope? a good sign
I’m fine w a rabbit hole for the movie thing. My sims don’t even watch movies and I bought the movie pack. Sometimes I need a few seconds of a rabbit hole to give myself time to think of the next thing to do 😅
Quirks are most likely not to have much affect on any particular Sim's personality as she grows up. Also, since I see no mention of it, they're probably not going to update wants/fears, sentiments, or lifestyles. Everything is just disjointed. I'm glad they're working on more family gameplay, but why create new aspects and not just build on what you already have?
It does seem like there is still a separation between new social dynamics with sims outside your family and inside your family. Not sure if it's explicitly romantic or just firends/enemies but on the EA page of "Growing Together" they separated "Social Dynamics" and "family Ties" in two different parts. Hopefully that is obviously different. I have a mod does does similar things and if this allows me to remove it that'd be a plus. At this point I don't know whatpart of it is mod or actual game 🤣
yeah, I'm not sure. I get why it'd be said in context of the family for the purposes of this pack- but I do hope it is not purely limited to one's family, It seems promising though and I guess it could also be used as a template to expand to other social interactions? It's both the most compelling and confusing features of this pack for me
Reminder: cinema rabbit hole came with sims 3's base game 🤣 base game, yup. We didn't wait for it for 9 years... sims gets wants to see a movie, movie gives several moodlets and while the moodlet is active your sim can talk about the movie he/she saw. Ofc the sims can visit/make out/woohoo in the cinema building. Woohoo have a random funny outcome: sims get out naked and the sims outside will gasp. School tours can also visit the building and students will bring back a movie poster..
it might be fine? usually the buggiest packs are the ones that centre around event gathering type stuff like weddings, prom, restaurants not getting my hopes up though.. ^^
Maybe wait and see- I see a lot of people assume it'll be terrible and some assume it'll be amazing. That's why, as I said, I think watching the stream and reviews is important
Honestly I have faith, this pack was clearly developed at the same time as infants which is one of the most important updates in the sims 4 history, the pack is clearly containing a lot of content so if it were to release Buggy it’s just be kind of unforgivable. ALSO the pack is being released at a later date than most packs giving them more time to look at player feedback and squash the buggies :)
The relationships compatibility does not sound like romantic/attraction system. It would make sense here or MWS (or even HSY) but knowing them, they’re most likely going to sell than in another GP/ EP.
I suppose this could be used as a foundation for one- in many ways, it should be connected, as attraction is not limited for instance to one's appearance etc
@@SimmerErin it definitely isn’t. I’ld hope for an attraction system to be more based in traits for instance than physical features, even tho that’s what many players want. Online dating is another request and after so many suitable opportunities I wonder when are they going to introduce those..
I like horses, but I'd prefer cars over horses. I hope cars will eventually come. The video cam looking footage was probably first-person view. I wish the theater wasn't a rabbit hole though. The tree house seems so intriguing to me. Overall, I think this pack seems jam packed with my desired features.
While I like the idea of cars being added (maybe even limos and Prsche-like cars for the snobby sims), I'd also like horses and maybe even carriages for a snobby Vampire or royalty sims.
If the relationship system wasn’t locked behind a DLC the new pack really wouldn’t be much of an expansion. Not saying it should be locked behind a DLC but we literally can’t have rain without seasons. Some stuff has always been kind of locked behind DLC… hence the reason so many want Paralives to be good… to force EA to reconsider how they market the next Sims game and any other Sims game to come out in the future…
yeah, I think those arguments are always really complex. I understand both sides of it- not everything can be base game, and some things do need to come in dlc's. It's complex
All this sounds great but how impactful is it going to be? Besides more traits (or perks), a couple new party types what are we actually getting? Hopefully older sims can actually teach kids to ride their bikes, would love to see the toddlers learn to walk as such a memory system (not just sentiments that vanish) It all looks shiny and amazing but I’ll keep my expectations low until I see how good the gameplay is.
I'm just curious on a couple things, but will the treehouse be personalized? Will there be more than an infant backpack, as in baby carriage or the carrier that goes with a bike? Overall I am intrigued.
It seems more thought has been put into this pack (and base game update) than the wedding stories pack. I was very skeptical of wedding stories, knowing how Sims interact with each other. So I am slightly optimistic, because it seems like they are taking in account the limitations of the Sims, not that there won't be begs and stuff when it comes out, but that if the team had fun working on it, there won't be as many game breaking bugs and the content in general will be better (like Werewolves).
yeah, I think taking possible limitations into consideration is key. It seems at least fairly thought out- def need more details and to see it work, but hoping for werewolves quality
Developers enthusiasm should be a fair indicator. The devs were very enthusiastic for Cottage Living and Werewolves, less so for Highschool Years and Dream Home Decorator and almost absent for My Wedding Stories. Even if the devs are ordered to be enthusiastic, it's all that hard to separate between the "professional enthusiasm" of mediocre packs and the playful leaks for e.g. Werewolves.
yep I worry I am imagining it- yet it seems a lot of other people have noticed such patterns. It's like they feel more confident and passionate about certain projects-which is something I could understand. Idk, I think another issue to keep in mind is that these are developers- not really social media specialists. It's cool to be able to have that connection, yet it makes things tricky
Please don’t give this pack too much credit yet. “A lot of content” is a monumental overstatement, as this is the FOURTH pack they’ve released that is selling us features that the sims 3 gave us in one expansion.
I feel I'm being fairly level headed? I said several times that the pack's concept is great, but we don't know what it'll be like until we say it played out
@@SimmerErin yeah i think the romantic on is still effectet though. It wouldnt make sense otherwise. So i think it is trying to be a bigger chemestry systhem to ts2s. Ts2s also effectet friendship if i remember corectetly and if Not this can be sen as the first step ther. But knewibg what they sayed last year it would be a dumb move Not to tie this into romance atraction. We dont knew yet if oregerences might get multiple thibgs. Mayby famalie will be tied to the pack and romance and friendship is BG
I also dont expect pack Integration with life moments. Like i dont think turning into a werwolf will get its own moment thing. I can see some things like work relatet or school relatet with HSY beeing tied to Basic moments mayby ther do a basic ocult Luke the ocult memory from ts3
Ideally movies shoukd be rabbitholes however in vanila ts4 you have 2 endure a loading screen and get off your lot just to do anytging so at that point you want some gameplay
It doesn't sound to me like the social dynamics are the same as an attraction system, but maybe sometime in the future, the Sims 4 devs will use a similar gameplay structure to create an attraction system
It's the Child Expansion. 4 new aspirations, treehouse (which is part of one of them). For anything that can be identified as a game system, that's where it is. I'm okay-ish with that. Obviously I'll try to get a child through all 8 aspirations on normal lifespan. :) Obviously! I'll use the treehouse all the time in doing those aspirations. To me the value is almost entirely in what it's gives kids. Yeah, still not sold on the game impact of infants. Those quirks will disappear as they age up. They did infants because of the 'babies are objects' clamour, but there's no room to add anything of depth without treading on what toddlers learn, how those traits feed into child traits. Toddlers are brilliant. Purely from a perspective of game design, infants are not necessary. It's roleplay and vicarious living, but it's not a game mechanic that adds anything to sim development at all.
ahh. you are prob right o quirks, though I will say milestones could be impactful? My hope is there is some impact, and not just say emotional buffs. lot of unknowns
You can’t tell me that they're not gonna have a horse theme in next expansion pack, haha! 🐴🐎🤠✨👀 Personally, I'd like to see a Texas, Arizona, Idaho-inspired wild west world vibe~ I think that horses will be in Expansion Pack as it makes more sense business wise. Horse are a new life state, so they have to create whole CAS, model, assets, animations... such addition is just too huge for a gamepack from perspective of budget and pricing of the gamepack.
I really want the existing object babies/newborns get some sort of a rehaul. Like can we get a few more clothing options for them and at least have options to have hair? Not all babies are born bald and in fact there are some born with thick and long hair. I highly doubt this is going to happen and probably have to stick with my better babies mod 😂
I think they could- weird as it sounds- do new swatches or something, but that's prob the extent. I don't mind too much, though I understand they are a little dull
I'm glad to see dzidziak86 included in the creators, because she's actually Polish and having that different perspective and cultural representation can only make rhe world and builds more interesting imo. But Deligracy and lilsimsie... Yeah, they've already been included, plus it's not like they're niche creators that need promoting
Oh fair! I did not know them well, so that's great to see. Now to be sure, I think deligracy and lilsimsie are fine, and they do add to the community- no doubt! But at the same time I do think there are so many creators that it'd be cool to see more of a rotation. It'd be especially cool say if they do it in a non american world, to collab with people from said culture and world
probably nothing specific to them- like they should be part of the general systems like socialization and of course be able to do things like puzzles and such. This is what I predicted- except I didn't actually think they'd include elders, but focus mostly all on younger life. (Since they have been giving bits of generational content spread across packs)
It’s not entirely clear what will be part of the free update and what is in the new pack. Infant update will be free for everyone but to have carrier, changing table, playmat and 18 discoverable quirks you will have to buy the new pack.
I wish they would add an option to allow sims to take the newborns outside for a walk. Like, in a newborn stroller. Just to add more gameplay. I don't like that the babies' interactions are so limited.
I was going to say they are then I realized you said newborns. The issue is that they are objects, so depressing as it sounds, they literally are tied, more or less, to their bassinets. I'm honestly OK with it, especially now that we have infants
@@SimmerErin but why would they be created as objects? 🙄🤦🏽♀️😂😂 But I get your point, and you're right. I'm so excited for infants. We've come a long way. While the age gap was huge between newborn to toddler, we actually had a newborn age into a child. So I love that they're adding more content.
Growing Together looks good BUT it really should have included the content from high school years. There’s no reason they needed to be separate packs. It’s like My First Pet Stuff but worse because EP’s are expensive.
