Tomatoes are different from many garden vegetable plants in that they can form roots all along the stem. So when planting tomatoes, the usual recommendation is to remove the lower set of leaves and transplant it at least several inches deeper than it was originally growing (depending on the size of the plant you have). Roots will form all along the extra stem that is put underground, and this will give the tomato more support and the opportunity to better satisfy its water and nutritional needs.

I've just been given as a present 3 tomato plants in little pots that have been grown from seed and I am a complete novice when it comes to growing veg. Never done it before so was nervous about it. However, watching your step by step video helped me so much. Thank you! I can see how you can easily get 'the bug' with this growing malarkey! Just a suggestion : maybe at the start of every month you could film a video suggesting good things to grow that month and then a step by step as to how to do it? Thanks again. :-)
That would only be a problem if you wanted to save the seeds from the tomatoes- if your growing them for the fruit then it doesn’t matter - he more the merrier!!!
Why so negative? I’ve always had great success using this method, and have found if you plant too deep, while plants are still young, then they can rot - especially in damp soils!
