I took all the VHS tapes of me when I was young and made a video of myself growing up at Zinkwazi Beach. The years in this video go from 1993 till 2019. Zinkwazi is still my favourite place on earth. After seeing this video I realised how important family and friends are and its always the simplest things in life that have the largest impact. I want to thank everyone of my Zinkwazi family for making my holidays there extra special. It began when my grandparents were looking for a holiday home by the coast of KwaZulu-Natal. In the year 1972 they found Zinkwazi and purchased shares in two lagoon front properties with their family. I was born on September 24 1992 . I went to Zinkwazi in April 1993 and I had such a lovely time on the beach. In the year 1994 we had a New Years cruise on Zinkwazi Lagoon and I was so happy I began to sing a song. I never grew up to be a rockstar though.
There were a lot of things that I wanted to achieve while at Zinkwazi. I always admired my dad swimming far out in the ocean . I knew one day I wanted to go out with him. I will never forget the first time I did. It was 2002 and we swam out together and I did my best to get out far over the waves and I made it to back line. While we were there treading water a school of dolphins came to meet us, it was absolutely amazing. I also loved paddling on kayaks there. I had my own paddle ski when I was little but I wanted to paddle out to the shark nets one day. When I bought my own kayak I was finally able to to. I also wanted to learn how to waterski, but I still could not buy my own boat so I had to learn on my uncles boat. I finally managed to get good at wakeboarding and waterskiing. In 2019 I saved enough to buy my very own speed boat , a Yamaha 130hp which is good for skiing. I also admired my dad and uncle surfing in the large waves. I always wanted to learn how to surf but with a bit of practice every time I came to Zinkwazi I managed to master surfing. Now I have bought an SUP stand up board and trying to master catching waves with that board. I still need a lot more practice but I managed to get one wave. What makes Zinkwazi so special is sharing it with my cousins. As cousins we are almost closer than brothers and growing up at Zinkwazi has been an amazing experience .
