1980's. Ram Dass gives lecture on internal and external suffering. He says that resisting our suffering creates more suffering for ourselves and for other people. We need to practice listening, and to observe the way the mind responds to somebody's story. It responds with judgement or distancing itself. Let's practice listening and watching our own reactions and hopefully we can quiet down in terms of being with the presence of suffering. Ram Dass opens the microphone for others to share their views of suffering.

I started a new job 2-3 years ago , I had to wake up early and drive 80-90 mins to get there. I was going through my awakening at the time. I listened to the The Be Here Now podcast every morning. i used to get in my van, have my morning coffee and just listen for hours. Ram Dass's voice takes me back. He really really helped me.

Who WAS that man reading it out? Who ARE these people who shared experiences? I often wonder about people in audiences... what happened to them after their 15 seconds of fame here... What were their day to day lives like? Are they still living? Where are they now? What life message could they share with us now? I'm weird, I know!

I had the honour of having a Skype conversation with Ram Dass in October of 2019 before he passed.. he truly is an incredible soul and we should honour him by following his example of loving everyone and embracing all aspects of life, the ups and the downs, it’s only our resistance to things which makes them so difficult.

Yes it is the resistance, but we have to do practice to understand properly, we are not the mind and body; then we stop resisting I hope; soon all this will be over, in a good way, I have always felt; it's the Pleadian again. Even I know that Babaji said "Dear child, do you not know, each time you judge yourself, you break your own heart". Let us not confuse it with total responsibility. Alhara x

watching this video and it is bringing up so much stuff in me: I trauma bonded, yet again, with another person, I met online. the pain is excruciating. I wanted so bad, for it to be love. I purposely went out of my way: to burn down any and every red flag, that emerged. and now they are all just way too painful to ignore. I'm dying inside. dying. the pain is agonizing and tormenting. so much so that I just wish I was, in fact, dead. 42 years old and I've never been in a relationship. never had love. It's hell. absolute utter agonizing paralyzing hell. soul rape.

What do we do with suffering, once we've moved past it? I keep coming back which tell me I somehow haven't let it go. I thought I had, but I have a feeling like I want to share my story of 9 years suffering with mental illness (or from my view - suffering the treatment of it). The reason is that I wanted to give hope to people who may be going through similar experience as me, and I feel I came out OK on the other end. I feel accepted and capable to love and ask for love. I went so far just recently to write a book to my unborn child in a honest manner about what I wanted for the child, to support it find their happiness like I've recently found support from strangers. My heart broke when it came to the point I talked about my mental illness, knowing it might be transmittable through genetics and I pictured myself handing the book to my child in 18 years from now. What would they think, that I gambled with their lives? My conscience came into full effect and I felt guilt and uneasyness about how to best care for my child. Right now I am at a point where I am accepting the end of our familys lineage which was gave me vertigo thinking that the whole chain of life, since pebbles bumped each other to form bacteria, is now hanging on a thread because of my fear to do the child wrong. I have learned so much about love and courage from these kind strangers and I've seen the courage liberates, allowing to reach desires but it also makes me reckless. Reckless with the emotions of another being. Reckless with my child. I still feel hopeful finding other joys in life, like spending time together with another person who might be infertile. Adoption is a possibility to explore. Suddenly, I feel more free to accept a single mother with existing kids and work to support their happiness. It just feels strange to consider the thought that the branch of life which is our family will end with me as none of my brothers have children of their own and I am the youngest at 39.

Jesus was the son of God. And there were others...And there are some questions the Bible doesnt fully answer (or we dont understand the metaphor)

I love his teachings and i can read between the lines and know that his intentions for this speech come from a good place but what has me baffled is the assumption that the majority of his audience is "middle-class" because they are white and that all the other races need help bc they are suffering!🙄 If someone is being introduced to his lectures, this one might not be the one to start with.
@leahknight9066
@leahknight9066 3 года назад
Awww, i think this would be a great lecture to open up with! To me it was clear that the assumption wasn’t the point of what he was trying to say. Even though during the time of this video the assumption he makes is honestly pretty safe, it really feels like he’s trying to make a point about the suffering that comes from identifying with race and ethnicity. If I’m reading between the lines correctly (because he was talking about how alleviating our suffering can cause more suffering before he directly addresses the crowd) it feels like he was trying to communicate how even though whiteness may not be something they contemplate since they’re not being discriminated against, its important to not ignore how being white will play a part for others that are discriminated against who aren’t white. So if it’s unintentional or intentional to ignore whiteness and the privilege that comes with it in our human experience, you will most likely affect others that are not privileged. I love how he relates awareness to coming from a place of love and understanding. Because when it comes to ethnic and racial issues thats so important.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. " (John 14:6) I encourage all that are seeking the truth, or some kind of meaning in their lives to know the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, through Christ. "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." (Psalm 34:8) Christ is the only way to true freedom and salvation. With love and kindness for the hurt, lonely, and troubled.

A torque wrench is a tool used to apply a specific torque to a fastener such as a nut, bolt, or lag screw. It is usually in the form of a socket wrench with special internal mechanisms. A torque wrench is used where the tightness of screws and bolts is crucial. It allows the operator to set the torque applied to the fastener so it can be matched to the specifications for a particular application.
