I find it super interesting as a first generation American whose grandparents immigrated from Italy and Spain to Argentina in the first half of the 20th century. I should add that I own the grip tester AND hand grippers of 100, 150, 200 and 250. I can hit about 145lbs on the tester, and I can easily close the 150lb gripper. So you can see the testing is off no matter who does it.

Also hand size is important here. I have small hands so I can barely fit my hand around these grippers but everyone says I have a powerful grip.

There is no way that is true. I can close a 200 pound gripper and while it is difficult, if I actually consistently used the things or trained forearms I don't doubt I could eventually close the 300 pound ones I have. If Devon Laratt couldn't close above 160 he must have been extremely fatigued, because fatigue really affects grip strength.
