The rising tally of polar bears reflects an increased ability to track bears - not an actual increase in the population. So, stupidity is now the mother of invention?
@@valdivia1234567 "Did you see the latest story that humans are cooling the earth while also warming it?" The record global temperature in 2023 says whatever cooling we are doing, isn't working.
Here's a quote: "Environmentalists changed the word jungle to rain forest, because no one would give them money to save a jungle. Same with swamps and wetlands." ~George Carlin
It won't because it's a control knob for humanity. The climate change and Rona hoaxes are siblings from the same monster. They are out to destroy humanity as we are the carbon they want to eliminate
You are AWESOME… I shared it with my three daughters who are educators in the public school system where they are required to preach climate change/global warming every day.
@@spacescatatford I don't understand how it was that difficult to track bears from a few years ago. Could you care to explain how and why the ability to track bears some decades ago were so poor? Thanks.
So true. I too have heard this my entire life, and I always questioned it. Sadly, and especially now with social media, people just believe anything that is trendy.
Thanks again Linnea - Your very pleasant screen presence and clarity of speech will make these videos easier to hear for many of my brainwashed friends here in MA. One young guy (40's) made fun of me when I couldn't remember Susan Crockford's name calling her the Polar Bear Lady, I wasn't offended. I need to make some cards with important names and stats for talking to friends. I'll download the app and see how it goes. The false narrative is so destructive in numerous ways, most people have no idea. It's not just talking about weather as you all know at Heartland and other great orgs doing the debunking and educating. It's the harmful, errant policies the narrative spauns when politicians buy into it, untold monetary losses, anxious people needlessly frightened, and our adversaries strengthening their energy capacity while we jeapordize ours, which is a National Security problem. I'll stop there and say thanks much for your very palatable presentations. Keep'em coming! PS: The background and lighting in this video are very well done.
1) why don't we ask polar bears what they think of a warmer arctic? 2) I am disturbed by polar bears eating seals. They are adorable and playful. They should not be eaten.
Maybe this is true, but a happiness survey of the polar bear population indicates that they are are deeply worried about how climate change is going to affect their lives.
Love your vitally important work defending CO2 and the truth. For those interested, another excellent source is Susan Crockford's Polar Bear Science web site. She does an excellent job reporting honestly on ice conditions. As she points out, alarmists bang on about ice loss (which is normal within an historical context) while never saying how much ice remains - which is an area the size of Pakistan. The truth is - polar bears are thriving - and alarmist CO2 climate propaganda is facing extinction.
You neglected Nunavut. When Inuit took back the land in 2000, Canadians laughed at them. they figured they got the gold (Yukon) and Inuit, the shaft. How would they do more than beg for help? Easy. They raised the number of polar bear permits, boars, to 26, far more than the 4 Canada allowed. At about 40K a pop, plus the need to hired guides and taxidermists, the Inuit were sitting pretty. Major problems rose. within a decade they had so many bears people were being mauled (polars see you are a meal). Bears were swimming as much as 50 miles out to sea to climb aboard fishing boats and carrying away fishermen. More permits were needed, but also sow permits. Because so many boars were killed, most cubs were thriving, not being eaten by dada. they also had a serious problem with great white sharks thanks to a booming fur seal population. Answer, give the people permits to hunt those awesomely cute lil shark snacks.
Reading The Worst Journey in the World, Scott's 1910-1913 journey to the South Pole. One thing that struck me was the inconsistency of the weather they experienced. They did a winter journey to depot provisions for the Polar attempt. And often during the blizzards, the temperatures rose to zero degress. Meanwhile the summer expedition sufferred from colder than expected conditions. Unbelievable what they went through. Well worth reading.
Polar bears are excellent swimmers, opportunistic omnivores. I've seen video of them swimming up to A beach full of basking seals, killing a young cow. The Idea that they were dying off was pure, dishonest, propaganda. They also claim Moose and Caribou were dying off from Mange. Moose, certainly, do get infested with scabies mites (the organisms that cause mange) in summer. Rarely fatal & the mites die when it freezes. It's just more environmentalist Whack-job, mendacity!
Heartland? They are the same people who don't think passive smoking causes problems for non smokers .A wise person chooses more than one source before they make an opinion.
Not true. Different species. Just the colour difference means different DNA, then there's different size, neck length, polar bears have webbed feet etc.
@@valdivia1234567 it's all bs. just look at the title of most of their videos. it goes against what real science is saying. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartland_Institute
No matter what kind of intellectual gymnastic you care to embrace, polar bears are doing fine. They're doing fine because the only thing that has ever threatened animal species is over fishing, poaching and habitat destruction due to human encroachment.
@@anthonymorris5084 I agree. When the polar bears run out of ice in the open ocean to rest, they drown. Of course, we'll never see the bodies. In time, they'll start mating with brown bears and quietly fade into oblivion. The first year there is an iceless Arctic, that's the year of the polar bear's demise. Multiyear ice is virtually gone. That means one good storm in the Arctic spring, and we will have an ice-free Arctic summer. That will be the year when massive heat domes will travel across the continents. Power grids will be overloaded with rolling blackouts. Air conditioners will shut down, and people will die by the thousands. Never forget Murphy's Law, anything that can go wrong, will.
Wow, you're really digging deep! There's no sense in any other expert here regarding climate. You're the "Go To Authority" to bad you're not as informed as you think!👌 You also might want to check on the studies that have shown the numbers are being deliberately hidden! It's all part of the agenda! It's not hard to find, I just did! Can't state it here, it will get deleted

@@spacescatatford Have you not noticed that every single climate argument, and every climate argument for the last 44 years, including every single argument you provide, all start with "Just you wait"? Polar bears only require seals because of the caloric intake required to survive such harsh cold. If it's not cold, bears don't need to eat seals. Bears are omnivores. They can thrive on berries, fish, birds, eggs, small mammals and large herbivores. All of these thing are migrating north due to warming. The only way any of the other hyperbolic nonsense you cite will occur is if we abandon fossil fuels.
Exact numbers were not known in the 50's & 60's and were most likely very conservative. Then a ban on hunting Polar Bears was passed in 1972, so the numbers would go up after that. But as sea ice diminishes in the coming decades, their habitat will start to disappear, and their numbers will fall! There will also be more run ins with humans as they fight for food and shelter!
Do we know exactly how many polar bears there are now or is this a best guess. So the homeless polar bears are attacking with humans for food and a warm place to stay?
Counting moving populations over large areas is always difficult and can never be exact. The actual estimates for the current population(s) is between 30-50000. The current quote is conservative. Of course the numbers quoted for the 60s were estimates. Hunting, virtually uncontrolled was responsible for their decline. Sitting next to a hole in the ice and waiting for a seal to appear is the bear's 'preferred' hunting method. It's also arguably the easiest, these creatures are not dumb. They are also partial to walrus, fish, birds (yes, birds) and anything else that is available. They also go for any free food the humans put in bins, sometimes, even the humans putting food in the bins. That is not a symptom of desperation, it's what they do. As Susan Crockford pointed out, the decline in ice led to an increase in the fish population and, subsequently the seals that ate them. Seals also come ashore. The bears now what to do. They are good at it. BTW: Polar ice this Winter was at the same level as 20 years ago.
@@robertmacgregor8438 As far as a Polar Bear is concerned (ditto, lion, tiger, wolf etc.) human = food. Absolutely free of prejudice in that department. And humans are so very easy to catch out in the open. And all that free food the humans put in bins for them, so generous. Much easier than actually hunting. You might want to check out how many animals raid trash and trash cans. They don't care where it's been and it's free. The media like to give the impression that we know there are (say) 253000 birds in a colony or (say) 50 million ants in a given area of land. There are different methods of counting but usually by counting in a given area (a sq meter, kilometer, whatever) and extrapolating. The more you repeat the measurement across the population, the better the estimate. Exact numbers? No, not happening or they would still be counting those ants. Polar Bears don't need 'warm places' when -40 C seems not to worry them. They even go swimming.
This lunacy is brought to you by the same organization that spent the last twenty years saying smoking is not harmful. Tell that one to anyone dying of lung cancer.
Well it isn't, my mother smoked her whole life and she lived to be 100. I've been smoking since I was 14, I'm 76 now and I haven't felt any ill effects at all from it.
Well, counting Polar Bears is not without risk, though cancer isn't one of them. Have you not noticed that a good number of the 'climate catastrophe effects' are things that Joe Average can't easily check? Could you count the number of honeybees in the US and state whether their numbers are in decline? Have you been to the Great Barrier Reef recently? And did you have time to study its 344,000 sq kilometers area? And could you organize a plan to count all the Polar Bears? How about sea level rise? How many people would know how to measure air-temperature at ground level for a 150 year period in a consistent manner? (Just one location) My point being, who do you trust anymore? The people who absolutely have an agenda and stand to make (already made) millions or people who have risked their careers to bring us what they have seen and recorded? And no one has spent the last 20 years trying to convince anyone that smoking is good for you. Even the tobacco companies gave up on that. And that was over 20 years ago.
What organizations exactly spent the last twenty years saying smoking is not harmful? Is CO2 really harmful? It is food for plants. There would be no plants without it.
