every Vietnamese youtuber: i don’t know much vietnamese- *speaks in full sentences with good accent* meanwhile my viet ass who can’t even say a word correctly without getting bullied:
αrl ɢrмeѕ omg, my whole family speaks fluent vietnamese and I can’t even speak it- My aunt said that my Vietnamese was bad, and thought it was better 💀💀😂😂
I can pronounce words correctly and have no accent (though I speak in the Southern dialect and everything seems to be in the Northern dialect) but I have the vocabulary of a toddler learning how to speak (I want ___, I am tired, I love mom/dad, where is my glasses, thank you, happy new year) and I call myself ‘con’ even with my Vietnamese foreign exchange friend that I met because I’m so used to only speaking to adults.
I'm cheering you on for uploading this video! It's great to see someone encourage learning a new language BEFORE they're fluent and to promote language learners - including those with relevant cultural heritage - who are still on their way to becoming fluent. I am Chinese-American and it took me a LONG time to get over my fear of speaking Chinese/Mandarin to anyone Chinese!
Aww love this!! My Vietnamese is broken too, but I 100% understood everything you said. I laughed at the part when you tried to explain "shady" in Vietnamese and translated it literally as no sun ☀️ 🤣 5:24
this means so so so so so much to me as a second generation asian american. i am half vietnamese, but i grew up speaking english in a very american setting, which makes it difficult for me to feel like i can accept myself as vietnamese at all. ive been trying to connect back to that side of my culture, and also learn the language too. to see you trying as well motivates me to no end!!! i hope you have fun continuing to learn!!
Even though I'm from Malaysia, I've never heard people speaking in Viet before. Listening to it for the first time, it sounds like a mixture of Thai and Cantonese, and I don't know why but it sounds kinda cute too. I think maybe it's the intonation? Anyways, I'm a recent subscriber, and I've been enjoying all your videos so far! I still can't seem to follow some of your makeup looks (thanks to my lack of skills) but I'm definitely going to do some of the simple ones to class one day 💕
@@kyokokazewa4637 the title is literally *speaking in **_(broken)_** vietnamese* ?? [ joke ] + are you viet? she's probably used to speaking english instead.
For a girl who have been living in America for so long, your Vietnamese is actually pretty good. Pls do more vids like this bc u r so pretty and talent, love you so much!!! Happy Lunar New Year!
your vietnamese is so sweet!! cute makeup tutorial jessica! even tho it’s not my language, sign me up for more of these, it was so comforting to watch and good luck on your learning, you’re doing well! 💕
Its really nice to see vietnamese youtubers! I'm vietnamese myself, but I grew up in an area with hardly any vietnamese and I ended up not being able to speak vietnamese but I understand it, so listening to my fav youtubers speak it makes me happy :"))
It’s so cute how you go from dialect to straight up American accent when saying the product names 😂 Idk I tend to just say the English names with the accent 🤣🤣
Though with broken Vietnamese, I gotta say, your Vietnamese level is AWESOME! I could understand you even WITHOUT subs. Keep it up! Em yêu chị. ❤️👍 You should speak Vietnamese more often! I absolutely love it! No pressure though, but I’d love it if you do for another video!
For short you can call yourself as “mình” - this word is same like “me” in English, no one will be older or younger than you. Your viewers you can call us “các bạn”, this will be same as “you guys” Hope it helps, happy lunar new year Jess
I love this so much! I can see the amount of time and effort you spent here!! Lovely! As I can only understand Jessica it gets kind of repetitive, but DO NOT stop! It's amazing to see how fluent you are and it does sounds beautiful! Totally changed my perspective on this language! Love you Jess
OMG! I am so impressed with your Vietnamese. Not broken at all, Jessica. I am from Vietnam and I love this so much! So adorable 😍 Please make more videos like this in the future 😘😘😘
De thuong qua, Jessica! 🥺💖 Chuc mung nam moi, em nhe! This was so cute! You should totally do more GRWM in Vietnamese! Also, a big fan of your bangs, you look so pretty in the pink makeup look! 😭
Hey im Vietnamese too ! And I love your makeup and this video cause I speak broken Vietnamese too sometimes lol it’s nice seeing Vietnamese you tubers raised here in America makes me feel like I’m not the only one😂
Me and my family went to Da Nang and Hoi An around 2 years ago. We aren’t Vietnamese, and don’t speak it, but we had a tour guide and stayed at her house (a homestay). Everyone was so kind and the beach was so close. It was so peaceful. This makes me wanna go back, lol.
@@jessyluxe so I asked my mom about the whole I thing in vietnamese, and it depends on who you're talking to and what age you are! My mom said that tôi would've also been good (she said it's best for when you're teaching to people), but she also said that people do speak in 3rd person is acceptable too! I never knew that until this video and when I had to ask my mom lol.
takyume i think the best way to refer to yourself in videos/situations like this is (if not your own name in 3rd person) "mình"! its cute and friendly but still has a tiny bit of formality to it
yungdragvn ye but "tôi" is actually so formal that in an everyday setting it's almost impossible to find. i personally have never said "tôi" before in my life 💀
i haven't been able to watch ur videos lately, as it's my final semester & i'm graduating soon! so glad to watch this today & laugh at u struggling some words 😫😫 forgive meeee. thank u for taking away my stress from school by making videos 💕 love from Singapore ✨ & Happy Lunar New Year 🐽🐽
I give you props because Vietnamese is probably the hardest Asian language to learn. I would love to learn Viet but I suck, so I'll just not skip your ads 😂 make that money Jessica 💲
I've followed u for a long long time. This is the first time I've listened your Vietnamese, your voice is so cute. Hope you will make more Vietnamese video!! Happy new year Jessica (late) :)))
aww this is so amazing! i don’t see that many viet youtubers these days and i have verryyy broken viet but it made me happy that i could understand most of what you said :)
I know it's been a year but 😂😂 only know this vid for now so i gotta comment 😂😂😂 even since your comment, there has been a lot of vietnamese beauty bloggers: Changmakeup, Quách Ánh, An Phương, Chloe Nguyen, Let's Play Makeup, Pretty Much Channel, Đào Bá Lộc, Trinh Pham... and that's not even all There's also Vietnamese bb with English as their first language such as Tina Yong, Michelle Phan, Hillary Trinh, Haley Pham...
This is so cute and funny omg. This made me want to do this too 😂😂😂😂 I totally feel the struggle!!!! I suck at Vietnamese too! But you know so much more words than me 😭😩😩😩
it’s so interesting to see this. As a Latina born and raised in the states, english is what I speak the most, although I was taught Spanish growing up. I speak it well however I do tend to struggle w some words as well as keeping the flow going. It’s hard trying to film in your native language when you’re not perfect at it and it becomes a mix of the two languages. Spanglish for me. I get so caught up w Spanish and my own experience that I never stop to think that other cultures struggle w the same thing. Speaking “broken” languages. And it’s so interesting to see that there are in fact an American accent to other languages other than what I see when it comes to Spanish (If that makes any sense haha) I loved this girl. Keep it up ! There’s always room to learn and improve ❤️❤️❤️
Wow!! I surprised that your Vietnamese is better than I thought, keep it up! Love your video and your makeup, please make more videos in Vietnamese. Chúc mừng năm mới chị, em yêu chị ❤️
When I go to Vietnam I go to Da Nang. I can't really speak Vietnamese well but I understand it but when people talk to me in Vietnamese Idk how to respond even though I understand.
Jessica, I love these kind of videos! I am also a Viet but wasn’t taught much about the language when I was younger so I just know basic conversations. By watching this, I was able to learn more and I would enjoy watching more of these videos in Vietnamese. Thank you!!
omg this is so cute your viet might not be perfect or “fluent” but I can still understand and it’s very natural! 🐖🐖make more vids like this because I support hehe
