A direct comparison of Augusta National on TGC 2019 and GSPro golf simulators. Hopefully this video will help you decide which one you should buy!
Here, I compare Georgia Golf Club on GSPro and Firethorn on The Golf Club 2019. Both are superb recreations of the arguably the most famous golf course in the world, Augusta National.
For a few years now, TGC 2019 has been arguably the most popular (and best) golf simulator software on the market. Until recently however, when GSPro became readily available on a number of launch monitors. GSPro has been growing in popularity and it continues to grow into what some consider as the new market leader in golf simulator technology.

I have both of these and I play with some fiends 2 or three times a week. We find the biggest two issues are not the play but the arbitrary stuff outside of ball physics and graphics. #1 - controls - GSPRO lacks a ton of preshot controls and set up. unable to move around freely zooming in and out to get ready and make decisions on your upcoming shot. Extremely big if you have went into the trees and need to map a route out :). #2 - We miss the noise. We like the commentator and all the outside golf noise that comes with TGC. GSPRO is a very silent game, no water, wind , birds, planes, cheeky commentator. We didn't know how much we actually like this until we did not have it. TGC also has a few nice small features like ball divots and such that give the details that extra pazaz. As far as physics and play they are very similar and I think you would love either one you get used to. Also there are programs you should run with TGC that will let you better hone in the graphics with light and such.

Just watching now and will give my thoughts at the end. I play PGA 2K21 on Xbox and design courses on there, having previously done so on TGC2019. Moving house in a couple of months and will have a garage to set up my own simulator. Hopefully I’ll get TGC2019 so I can play my own courses. Great channel, keep up the good work.

Great comparison. Do you know if you can adjust the tee position in The Golf Club 2019 like you can in GSPro. If you can;t hit center screen?

You can offset your centre line in TGC2019 yes. It is somewhere in the settings whilst you’re playing the game, I can’t remember exactly where off the top of my head. It is pretty simple to do though 👍🏼

I’m shopping for a gaming laptop to use solely for GS Pro. You mentioned you were running GS Pro on high instead of ultra. What RAM and graphics card specs do you recommend to run ultra?

Great comparison. What I noticed it the a bit rediculous looking rough on gspro. For those that have been to augusta you know there is no rough that long anywhere on the course.

Love your independent reviews. I can see the benefits of both software systems. Yeah I don't care for the first bounce on TGC2019 and I've played some courses on the same software where I have to wonder if the greens truly do have the slope and speed to take a putt flying off the green. Having said that I've gotten much much better at putting with TGC and downloaded some software which added the gimme circle to TGC2019. Would like to purchase GSPro in the near future because with the exception of what you've pointed out in this video, I think the graphics overall and perhaps quality of the courses seem to be better in GSPro.

Ah thanks pal. Ye the graphics are improving with every new course on GSPro which is exciting. I do think TGC is very realistic tho on those courses that are built using LiDAR data

Try adjusting the lighting on GSPro hit the L key. I think you can get the more green look if you want. I did and got the look I wanted including the water.

I’ve had a go with the lighting but struggled to find a good picture for the green. I’ll keep trying though!

To my understanding, the reason The Home of the Players looks different than GGC is that different and more modern tools were used to design THOHP. Those tools have not been released to the public and are proprietary to the designers of THOTP.

@@hcpgolf GGC is on the list of courses to be rebuilt with the new toolset. The current version is, AFAIK, one of the older courses in the course library hence why the water features look a bit primitive.

Jeff, you are correct, THOTP was built with version 4 of my OPCD Toolset. There’s a lot coming soon for the Course designers that should even improve upon what we did for THOTP. These Tools will hopefully be accessible to the entire community by the end of summer. But, don’t quote me on that ;)

@@williamhumber5890 I believe it was one of the earlier courses to be built originally. It still looks great after the recent rebuild but if it gets a future update with newer tools I’m sure it would look stunning 🙌🏼

Preferred TGC2019, but as stated earlier might be biased. If you fancy a blast round my par 3 course Las Dunkas Par 3.. would appreciate you videoing a play through.. enjoy!

I have a Garmin R10 and tried the GSPRO, but i found it really hard to get it all connected. I eventually got it connected but kept losing its signal 😡. I have the Awesome Golf but miss all these extra courses, i haven't tried the othet one as i don't think its on the R10 or i think it was because i am on Android. Great video 👍🏌

I think you can play TGC 2019 on the R10 now 👍🏼 I haven’t tried GSPro on the R10 so I can’t comment on it losing signal. But with my SkyTrak GSPro also stops working occasionally (but it is a quick & easy fix). Did you ever join the Discord group for troubleshooting? In my experience the discord group have been amazing at sorting out any issues 👍🏼 Thanks 🙌🏼

@@hcpgolf Super thanks i might give it another go. The TGC software is really expensive i think over €1000. I have a setup in my job just a net and a mat, i use my work laptop to connect the Awesome golf maybe that is why i loose signal as it is not a gaming PC ? . I am not keen on all the technology stuff i would rather just pay somebody to connect it 😂😂👍👍🏌🏌

@@Jaywil765 Possibly something to do with your laptop as GSPro does require a pretty good graphics card to work well. I don't blame you for not wanting to fork out for TGC 2019!

Full disclosure, I don’t have much person experience with tgc2019. That said comparing graphics on two programs when one you can’t run one of them on the best graphics isn’t an accurate way to do it… that’s like comparing e6 on and iPhone vs computer and judging them by how it looks. Comparing earlier gspro courses to most recent courses on ultra will show a bigger difference. Gspro is amazing and is only getting better, costs much less, most realistic and constantly tweaking to get better and had has the best product support. Tgc2019 does look good no arguments there. But it’s expensive, no updates or support and the realism just isn’t up to par

I agree with you. Unfortunately I don’t have an expensive graphics card to run GSPro to its full capacity though. I wish I did! I’m merely trying to give people an idea of the differences between TGC and GSPro, because there are many sim golfers out there who aren’t sure which they should get. If the video gives one person an idea of what each one looks and plays like and helps them decide which way to go then I’m happy!

While I wait for my Skytrak, I'm leaning towards GSPro because of its constant updates and game itself. But I do prefer TGC graphics... I feel GSPro it's overly sharp trying to be realistic, which actually makes it unrealistic. (Are you as a user able to reduce the graphics on GSPro?)

I find myself playing more GSPro than I do TGC 2019 nowadays. But I do really like the graphics of TGC too! Yes on GSPro you are able to reduce the quality of the graphics if you wish 👍🏼

I have the tcg2019 for my Skytrak. Make sure the yards are accurate. I gave myself indoor hitting syndrome. All my clubs inside were 30-50yrds shorter than real play. I started to hit different inside to gain yards and all it did was screw me up. 12k setup mainly for my daughters to practice on bad days and for me to play. It messed me up I was in the low 80s and now I can’t break 100. All shots are open face. I hope you don’t have the same issue. Sent my back to have them check the calibration.

I have the tgc2019 and the Skytrak unit. The whole setup set me 12k and seems to be awesome. My only issue is that I gave myself indoor hitting syndrome and my clubs are all about 30-50yrds shorter than their actual distance. Now I’m real golf, I can’t hit a shot. I was mid 80s and now I can’t break 100. I wish I didn’t use the simulator I have. It was mostly for my kids 10&8 to get summer practice. I wish I knew how to fix my game. I was not expecting a simulator to mess me up like this. Glad my daughters are not having that issue, but I did notice the driver is shorter for them but the rest of the clubs seem pretty close. I also noticed the Skytrak range and the tgc2019 range with the same settings give different distances with their clubs also. I sent the unit in to Skytrak to check it out. Also screwing up my game, I tried to hit harder indoors to get my outdoor yards to match. Wrong thing as it should be the same and is hope they find an issue and fix it to use. I wish I didn’t try it. Now how to fix my swing

I fully understand your disappointment! When I originally bought my SkyTrak I used it outdoors and dropped my handicap from 11 to 7 in 2/3 months. Once I moved my SkyTrak setup indoors, my handicap has slowly crept back up to 10. One of the issues is that I don’t play outdoor golf as much now as I did, but also because I started to play around with my swing trying to make changes constantly. I’m sure my low ceiling issue has adapted my swing subconsciously as well. The algorithms of the SkyTrak range and TGC are different, hence why most people will get slightly different results between the two. They shouldn’t be overly-large differences though. The main thing I have found that has improved with using SkyTrak is my ball striking.

@@hcpgolf I have the fiberbuilt mat with the strike area. My wrist is still sore. Not a cheap mat. Not light to move also lol. A tool to help as it messed me up. All my shots outside are open position and short. If I try to close it, I over do it and it’s a mess. Real play for me has me chunking the ball. Plus indoors had me always looking up to check it out. Oops. Another issue to fix. I have no clue where to start to fix my game. I’m afraid to take a divot outside and not leave it open. It frustrates me. But the tgc2019 seems to be cool so far. Daughters want to design their own course. We just outright paid for the game. Lol. Thanks man!!! Good review also.

jim, a while back, i tried the latest new driver at american golf using a simulator... what i found was that i was constantly lifting my head, and looking for the ball before i'd even hit it... the old head up routine.... i put this down to purely wanting to see the shot on the simulator... so, go back, slow everything down, and keep your head perfectly still through the shot, and see if you might have been doing the same as i was...👍

@@Hammy1962 my simulator issue after fixing the looking at the screen line you were saying is not closing the face at impact and afraid to take a divot. I need an immediate fix as im going in a golfing vacation in June and I don’t want to look like an ass. lol

My issue with TGC is the limited textured and objects. All the courses tend to have the same look. If you look at the newer courses being designed on GSPro, you’ll see way more detailed textures on grasses, sand, trees, etc. Gcc here, I believe is not using all the newer tools for GSPro. Putting graphics aside, it’s hard to argue that GSPro physics aren’t superior to TGC. At the end of the day, to me, that’s the most important thing for sim golf.

I agree that some of the newer GSPro courses look amazing, particularly THOTP which blew me away. I’m looking forward to when the majority of the courses look that way! And of course, ball physics are easily the most important aspect of any golf simulator experience.I do believe GSPro’s physics are a little better, but I haven’t had enough experience playing sim golf as others to really notice all the finer differences yet 🙂

GSPro is choppy. TGC looks smoother. GSPro needs more juice and not sure what gpu is being used here.

Yes I agree, I would definitely like more juice - my graphics card is only 1650s which runs TGC fine but GSPro struggles with some courses more than others 👍🏼

@@hcpgolf are you running GSPro on ultra settings on the 1650? Ahh. Never mind. You are not running ultra. There will be graphics quality difference between high and ultra. So hope you get a new card soon so you can enjoy GSPro on ultra.
