your bike is shaping up, looking forward to your upcoming trip and review of the GT, it's on my list of my next bike. Thanks for sharing and keep the GT video's coming.
They do two sizes of lid for the FJR so must be able to change on that model. Will do some digging to find out if these are interchangeable to the Tracer pannier with someone I know at HO. They certainly look very similar. The FJR pannier is very good quality, in relative terms, for a road bike. Ensure that it is fully mounted on three location points and ensure the locking pin, at rear of panniier, is fully home. If the locking pin isn't fully home and or the pannier isn't located on all three mounts they can come off the bike! DAMHIK. I have also had one of those small lock latch plate screws fall out. Luckily it just made the plate loose and difficult to open. Managed to cut down a suitable machine screw to fit. Easier to do with the pannier off the bike. Great videos.
They are interchangeable, I owned an FJR and I'm 100% sure. The problem is that Yamaha doesn't sell only the lid, they sell the full cases which are much more expensive than just the lid would be.
Thanks for the tip on the FJR covers!!! I couldn't find the answer anywhere to storing a helmet In the stock cases. Now I'm wondering if the bike would look odd with one larger side and a smaller side
Any plans on changing the stock signal lights out for some LED's, or putting on a tidy tail (fender eliminator)? I wonder of the tidy tail is the same as previous Tracer models (2015-2017), just like the radiator guard you have installed. Also, some videos of you riding the bike, we need to see it out of the garage!
Not sure which signals to install, still making up my mind. As for the fender eliminator, I might leave it stock, since it's barely visible with the cases.
Be sure to lock-tite the screws on the lock metal plate because I read some comments in the FJ-09 blog about the bags falling off because those screws unscrewed.
I own a 2013 FJR. Not all helmets will fit in the saddlebags. For instance, an XL Arai Signet-Q doesn't fit. The saddle bag screws use a tamperproof (or security) T-10 Torx bit.
Nice video. I don't really need the detailed instructions but still hang around to see what the final result looks like. As for the locking mechanism, you mentioned that you can't take the key out when the case ain't locked. I think you can still pull the tab with the lock up (open position) and turn the key as if you would lock it, and finally take out the key. Well, at least I can do it on my FJR (or so I thought at least). I do like the colour of your bike and the matched colour of the cases and in a couple of years I like to change my FJR to a 900GT in the same colour. Saw a 900 GT on the highway the other day with glossy grey cases and had to look away, it really didn't match the bike in any way. Yuk! Ride safe bro!
Excelente vídeo. Você teria o link de onde comprar os maleiros laterais e suportes originais? Infelizmente não tem disponível aqui no Brasil, logo, teria que importar. Agradeço.

Hi, thanks for your video. Have you investigated whether Yamaha sells the spare part of the suitcase to fit two helmets? The truth is that that throws me back, because now I have an RT with a lot of space and it is very comfortable to save your helmet when you leave. Thank you
The earlier models have different mountings for the bags. They have a single piece each side mounted behind the pillion pegs using the same mounting points (not on the pegs). So I n theory you can delete the pillion pegs and only have the mounts.
Hey, nice videos. I like a lot the tracer. I have been looking after this model since one year and in the end of this or first of the other I will buy one. Since now, I love it but the vlobbing and some corrosion issues that have notice in some models, take me looking on Vstrom 1000. Now with this 2018 model that Yamaha has get out I'm even more decited to buy one. I want a good globe trotter, sporty and comode for many kilometers with passager. I want to get on Nordkap with my half and is very complaining person when it cames the but pain in long distance travel. I have done 1300km in one day that was offul but she didn't complain a lot (just a little bit). My question is, it is a deal to buy the tracer GT 2018 or I should buy 2016-2017 tracer with about 8000euros? It worth the difference of 4000euros between the 2 models and the pros that 2018 has ? Thanks and keep it on ! Like your videos! I'm waiting soon more videos with that tracer and all the stuff that has more that the old model.
I think you need to spend a lot of money to bring the '15-'17 versions to the level of the GT, and you will still miss a lot of features (dashboard, cruise control). Only you can tell what's best for you, but this GT is really good!
Critical Rider ok but it worth the difference of the 4000euros for those features that 2018 has ? I saw tracer 2017 with 8000euros with good equipment. I know you have a lot of good stuffs but I don't know if worth the price. Do you think it worth?
Personally, I think that mounting and quality of yours previous Shad SH36 is much better. 3p mounting system is much more simple and looks stronger. Also, cases look much better quality. This is the personal opinion as I have SH36 on my TRACER. Can you compare Shad SH36 with this GT Yamaha equipped cases?
These Yamaha cases are WAY BETTER that the Shad. Much higher quality, easier to put on and remove, safer, better looking, more aerodynamic, single key for bike and cases, mounting is much stronger on this one. I think you have a very wrong idea of the Shad vs. Yamaha cases.
Yes and No. These look much better, have a better opening mechanism, sit much more in the bike. But the Shad could take a full face helmet, so that was better.
Mate great vlog. I just bought tracer 900 2k18 nimbus grey. Can you tell me how are the sidecases in use, will they be sufficient for two for a weekend? Cheers
I'm also going to get a top case. I'll go for the genuine Yamaha. They're well built, use the same key as the cases and the bike, and come color-matched to the bike. Also, the support looks very good, not aftermarket, so even when it's not installed it looks ok.
Fantastic... but will the lock can be install easier when case is off the bike? And BTW, is case lock tight with bike OR is lose and shake a lot like the old Tracer's soft bag? Again, lovely bike :)
@@CriticalRider very hard to find matte blue colors, they only sell raven colors now. i have tracer gt matte blue 2019 until now cant find matte blue side case.
I bought this exact bike 2 weeks ago in Thailand no bags included. Just the spare locks ??? Feeling ripped off. Ordered the Givi Trekker 33L. Side bags with specific mounting hardware. Givi 47 L Top bag with Integrated ,LED Brake and Turn signals...For less than Yamaha are asking for Panniers ??? Fuck Yamaha..
Certo, mas o que interessam as malas se a máquina andar como o primeiro modelo? Sei que isso foi alterado mas gostava de perceber até que ponto. Não falo só do motor mas também e especialmente da ciclística. ;-)
@@cruisingthethaiway6881 what color do you buy. is it matte blue. i look every where cant find matte blue side case. even yamaha malaysia dont have matte blue.
@@msdottechnology8930 the bike is Phantom Blue (matte blue). Bought at Hatyai. Can only get cases in gloss Black. If you buy the bike in America it comes with matching blue cases, but not available after the sale. I also recommend upgrading the seat with Seat Concepts dot com
@@msdottechnology8930 I buy from them and revzilla.com a lot. Most popular motorcycle suppler in America. They may only except american credit cards. You can try it to find out. Very easy to use and freight charges will be displayed before you submit the order. You will need to pay import tax, COD.
