Maisto does a great job on detail and quality for the more affordable price.

Agreed and when you compare price it’s amazing. Really torn on if I should have given the overall win to Maisto.

I bought the orange Maisto Shelby GT at my local Costco for $14.99, and there’s really not much to complain about it for the price. Comparing a $14.99 car vs $160 car is almost like comparing a Honda Accord to a Porsche. But for $14.99, Maisto holds its own. The GT Spirit looks awesome but is it really worth paying 10X more than the Maisto? Imagine if Maisto started making $160 cars. 🤔

as a motorhead for me it's about quantity. over time i get to know and want to have 3D models of more and more cars. I'd go broke if i wanted all of them to be autoarts. besides, if it's on display in a shelf in a corner of your room and not up close near your face, all the extra dollar you pay for carpeting, perforated grilles, hood struts and so on never gets noticed and remains hidden. so whats the point on having them on every single car? so save those for your favorite cars and collect the rest from budget manufacturers that still look great exteriorwise from a reasonable distance.

Definitely will get the Maisto! Need my cars to open up, show their innards and wheels that steer for different poses. I have a couple resin cars... Just like looking at a car in a dealer lot with locked doors... For the interior detail, I'll make my own carpeting with flocking, maybe even repaint the wheels and front bumper with gloss paint. Maisto that gain in value are rare so I'm not too worried hurting the value by modifying the model.

I like the opening cars as well. The ACME cars are my favorite.
@BFDdrives

Although the details are looking better on the GT Spirit model I'd anyway go for the Maisto. For the price of the Maisto you are still getting something good - even 4 model cars for the price of the GT Spirit. Plus you can simply open everything and taking a look under the hood. Something I don't like about the Maisto is the opened side window. I'm placing my models on shelves and the open window makes it after a while pretty dirty inside. But of course if money is no matter and if youÄre a true 100 % fan of the car then you'd definately get them all plus the Solido one and probably in all colours ;-)

GT Spirit all the way. At the end of the day the car goes on display and not to be messed with. So, no opening anything doesn't really bother me. The GT Spirit is also using real OEM paint that is used on the actual cars. Chances are that there will never be another production run of that GT Spirit, therefore increasing it's value over a Die cast car that gets encore reproductions in much larger quantities.

Maisto is a good starting point as a base car if you do want to get those finer details with an overall lesser cost than the fully sealed GT Spirit. If the dog leg hinges bother you then they can be painted in flat black and by doing so will be far less visible. Thats the trick Hotwheels elite used to hite the dogleg hinges on their models back in the day.

Honestly on first glance the biggest difference is the lack of raised windows on maisto compared to the full windows on GT spirit. However, you can mitigate this difference if you replace the Maisto with a Solido GT 500 which is also in the same price range. I'd be interested in THAT comparison, because the differences would become even more subtle, especially if you display them both on a shelf. That being said, the Solido is more of a middle ground thing as it only has opening doors. The maisto is really the orange to the GT spirit apple because it makes up for the missing windows and lack of file details with low price, diecast instead of resin and most importantly, also an opening hood and trunk. Even without an opportunity to find it for 15 bucks at costco or sams, I would still say Maisto is the winner BUT to me another important factor is the color option. And Solido and GT Spirit offer certain color options the maisto doesnt and vice versa, so yeah. Finally, there is also the option of importing the Maisto from china where it will cost you 80 dollars shipping included but it comes with raised windows. Not worth the money just for raised windows, but if it's the one thing really bothering you, AND you cant stand to have a sealed resin model, THEN the 80 dollar china maisto is your best option. Also some unique colors just for the china market like red with black stripes.

Great video, i just bought a Solido brand 2020 Dodge Hellcat Redeye, it has opening doors with the windows up. it doesnt have an opening hood but what makes up for that is the great interior detail and paint. it comes with a little tool to pull the doors open. i also have Maisto, Greenlight, Road Signature and Sun Star in my collection along with a Franklin Mint. i like the Solido the best out of them.

@@villainmediaproductions5237 you are lucky if you have the space for the 1/18 scale. I was selective with my 1/64 until recently I got the bug and have been buying a bunch like crazy. Still manageable with space though because they are small. I probably have about 50 right now.

Im all about the quality over quantity anymore. If its not autoart of gt spirit whats the point of having it. Maistos are toys for kids to bash on, but if your a modeler they can be nice custom cars too. Depends on the shelf and im running out of space so gts or aa for me😀

Agreed. The box says 3+ for a reason. When I get my AutoArts, I buy the same vehicle for my 4 year old, but it's a Bburago or Maisto because we both love cars. But he's rough on his toys (like most kids his age) so he only destroys a $20 car instead of a $200 one.
