@@rickymorcus8962 no, you can absolutely say that now. These cars could have races like that every track. F1 maybe on 3 tracks you’ll get that kind of racing. The cars have wayyy to much damn aero. I’m with Enzo Ferrari and his quotes years and years ago about aero. Basically saying if aerodynamics advance much more long into the future I won’t be around to say it so I’ll say it now, it will ruin racing.
@@rickymorcus8962 put F1 cars here, (which you can’t because they have no god damn suspension travel) and I can 200% guarantee you that it will be a follow the leader procession.
For those wondering what happened next.... The results stood. Both drivers at fault. (endless arguements on many forums about who did what). 45 got first in class & 3 got second. It was the final race of the season. Flying Lizard won the championship well clear of Corvette. BOTH drivers were on put probation for the first 2 races in the following season. The 45 Porsche won at Laguna Seca in the following 2010 race.
I’ve just got into GT3 racing Arthur cars real bodies unlike NASCAR works just fake and a tube frame? I mean also it’s not really stuck because the cars are modified as race cars strip out interiors maybe more horsepowers The only real one is like stock production racing
Blame USA Only in a straight line my ass. Corvette was setup to have understeer, that's the only reason you think that piss bucket Porsche handles better.
I’ve watched this video multiple times and , regardless of the ending, it was great racing up to that point. Two drivers giving their all. Beats the hell out of F1.
Magnussen forced his was into the lead by heating Bergmeister, so it’s understandable that he did that... either way they should be penalized, race hard it’s okay but crashing into other drivers isn’t
One of the best circuits in the world, right up there with the likes of Spa, Monza, Le Mans, Suzuka or the old Hockenheim that went into the forest. It is circuits like Laguna Seca that highlight how monotonous are repetitive ovals are.
That overtake on the pit exit lane was extremely dangerous. Blind corner, bump, if there was a car there exiting the pits, it would have been a huge crash.
Once a car is beside you on a straightaway, there is no more defensive driving left for you to do. The Porsche simply turned into the Corvette and smashed him into the wall. The judges should be ashamed of themselves.
This. If you've ever done any racing, you know this. Any blocking would have been done before the Corvette got up beside the Porsche. Once there, the last thing any racer worth his mettle does is try to run the other into the wall. Bush league move right there, made worse by spinning the Corvette once it had a fender on him. You NEVER try to maim a competitor. If that was me in the Corvette, I'd have rather enthusiastically reminded the Porsche driver of that in the pits afterwards. A lot.
Although I am a big fan of Vette, but I must say that this corvette shares ZERO parts with the road going version. This is heavily modified for this series. But yes, it whips Porsche's arse any day.
Corvette tried the bump and run on the last corner. Porsche was mad and lost the drive out the corner putting the power down. He defends heavily (blocking at this point) and then the vette gets spun around. He must have gotten past for this too happen
It was quite slow, check how, even after being pushed forward, the car #45 still had plenty of room to its right side (8:41), otherwise it would have gone way to beyond of the kerb.
porsche driver got mad because the vette driver did a pass using the pitexit and bumbed him in last corner so he didnt want him to just take the victory like that and defended heavy
you can’t run someone into the wall. that’s what he did. The porsche was half a length back on the corvette, ran him to the wall, the corvette wasn’t going to let up, had to turn right, and got spun. there’s NO other way the corvette could have spun. and this is after the Porsche break checked him in the corner. there defensive driving, then there’s impeding the flow of the corner by specifically reducing speed in the apex of a corner. disgraceful “defensive driving.” I’m disgusted the results stood. good racing, until he dumped the vette.
to be honest i think that corner cut through the pit exit should have been a stop and go, if there was a car exiting the pits they would have been cleaned up. (yeah i know it was the end of the race and cars generally arnt pitting then)
Fantastic fight between two very "motivated" race drivers. The end is missing of fairplay and if Corvette hasnt to push back, Porsche also hasnt to crash the other on wall.....
Aww that cliff hanger! What happened next, was anyone at fault? I think if he hit him from behind I applaud the Porsche for holding him down, he wants to play dirty to can play it that game.
The way I see it, is the porsche was obviously defending heavily and pushed corvette towards the wall, but he left him enough room. The corvette doesn't actually touch the wall, and you see the porsche move back to the right a little bit. I think then the corvette tried doing the same thing and pushed the porsche to the right. At this point the Porsche touches the brake a little bit (you can clearly see the brake lights) and the corvette goes careening to the right. He didnt expect the porsche to brake so lost control. Smart move by the porsche if you ask me - he deserved the win. BTW, ni'm not biased at all in this, I don't watch GT races, just a fan of good motorsporting.
The Corvette was definitely accelerating faster, but the 911 seemed more stable around the corners and the 911 driver was holding a really good defensive line. Who ended up winning the race? Was the 911 penalized for the move at the end?
wow. so was the porsche penalized for that? that was way behind a racing incident. you're risking another dude's life when you put him into the wall at full throttle like that.
oldfrend you're risking a guys life when you bump the rear end during a high speed corner as well... Also, the corvette could've conceded at any point and allowed himself to be pushed into the wall. The vette was the faster car, and I wouldve loved to see him win, but not by pushing the Porsche and effectively cheating (because it's an illegal maneuver, but they'd finish the race before penalties can be assessed).
MotoX Rider the bumper tag was at like 40 mph. Hardly life threatening. That's a racing penalty at best. Porsche shpuldve been dq'd for trying to kill his opponent. Also ur not much of a gp racer if you've never heard of post race penalties. Happen all the time
They both had no real penaltys after the race. Both drivers had like a yellow card for the next 2 races. If they had anything done in these 2 races they would have got a 2 race ban. The rating was like they crossed the line. Porsche won the race and the championship and chev 2nd.
oldfrend Okay, he wasn’t trying to kill him. He moved him over towards the wall because Jan bumped him off of the racing line to win the race which is an extremely dirty move especially on the final corner. So the Porsche moved over on him and Jan came back across the Porsche. You can see the Porsche’s brake lights light up when Jan comes across like that. So id honestly say it was Jan’s fault.
