I used the Super Formula Toyota '19, with hard tires, and fuel map 6 on Suzuka and won with no pit stop for either fuel or tires. I only had light rain on laps 6 and 7. Easy win.
Man I tried that yesterday with same tires and 5 for fuel map and had to pit to change to intermediates when heavy rain started 4th lap. Highest place I could finish in was 4th.
Wow the intricate chlenges of this game are endless, thanks for sharing. Although I haven't entered this cafe race, I was planning on using the Toyota 010 exclusively, now I know to mix it up. Thank goodness for RU-vidrs like yourself!
Ty for this recommendation I could not beat this track for like 2 weeks. I kept ignoring it but when I saw this video I came in 1st on first try with this car. Amazing handling. Ty so much
Thanks for this. Struggled with other cars, but the grip and speed of this car with the strategy helped me clinch it. Fuel setting 4 for most of the race, once I got into position 1 I went fuel 6 for last two and kept my elbows out. I also added NOS to boost on the two straights or to pick up power on any compromised lines
the Bugatti VGT gr1 is a solid pick for this too with the mid turbo and a couple setup changes to suit your style, RH all the way with a splash and dash is all that's needed for it and doesn't need a tyre change, very easily in the 1:42 range for lap times
Thanks for the video. I use the Alpine VGT '17 for both Cafe books 41 & 42. Suzuka was an oddity as I thought it was going to rain so I pitted for IM tyres and came in 5th. 2nd race, I just left the RH tyres on and won easily. St Croix was challenging till I learned the track. That car is 3M credits and is just for one Cafe series. Just crazy. The Alpine does both (I just bought a mid-range turbo upgrade)
@@Doughtinator If you get a chance, try the SF19 Super Formula car on Cafe Book 42. I think you will be surprised how trivial it makes this event. (Bank for buck, not much can compete)
Man, this race is an absolute nightmare! Last time i did this i ended up in 20TH PLACE! I've been trying a ton of cars like a Redbull, Formula and a 908, None worked! Only with Hyundai i managed to go quite far but im still yet to finish this race since i had to go when i was doing it last time.
I used the Red bull X2019 for all of the 3 races, Suzuka very difficult at the end because I didn’t pit for slicks when the rain stopped, almost spin in last corner of the last lap because tires were gone 😅😂
I love the cockpit view (I use a VR2 headset) with the Red Bull X2019. As good as the Porsche may be, I have trouble with the tiny slit of view from the cockpit in VR. 'As a matter of interest, what tune did you use? Just the stock 943pp? I noted that increasing front downforce can raise the pp to 950. What about fuel and tyre strategy?
Yeah the GR010 in game and in real life has restrictions on aero so it is really hard work on the twisty Suzuka. I’m not going to give up on it tho. I really want to make it work 🤣
@@Doughtinator Instead of the Porsche, I went with the Alpine VGT as I have it already. Added the mid rpm turbo it is properly fast with less medium speed under steer than the GR010. Probably more to do with my crappy wet weather driving, it took me something like 6 drives to win on medium difficulty. But when I didn’t spin out finally, it was a convincing win with one stop.
I will try this strategy. I've got the short-shifting all sorted out but I think I'm using the wrong car. The Bugatti VGT Gr. 1 is just too heavy to control, and the McLaren VGT Gr. 1 is just too powerful. My other Gr. 1 car is the Toyota which as you said isn't also great on this track. I should probably invest in the Porsche 919, just a few repeats of the championships to get me to that level. Thanks for this!
I used the tomahawk and got 2nd. After some grinding I got the 919 and got 1st. It’s awesome and satisfying to watch yourself speed past everyone else I have a question, does it do 10 laps on fuel map 2? Cuz it does 9 on 1 which was a mistake I made, but still had a 12 sec gap win
I was so annoyed I had it in the bag on lap 10 an absolute downpour to the point of no grip whatsoever, The AI flew by not sure if they pitted for wets/inters but was not happy with just a few corners to go I got robbed. The Mclaren VGT is absolutely superb around Suzuka and you hit the lead pretty early and then pit lap 6 or so and then retake the lead. Just damn rain unpredictable
Man if I knew beforehand I could use non Gr.1 cars for this Gr.1 menu I would have saved so much money. Already had not one, but two Red Bull X2019 that could easily get me through the first two races. Still have to try this one though. Also performance points are a bit off imo.
I don't know what's different about your game vs. mine but I have done this race at least 25 times now, and NEVER had a race without rain. Also the top 3 finishers NEVER PIT. I don't know if there's something that maybe changed in a recent update, but that's been my game.
Now finished it 35 times (started it several more times) and STILL have never seen it without rain. So not sure how you managed to do it because I am convinced there was probably an update to the game to make sure it rains. I have started at least 50 races (not retries, actually exiting and starting a new race) and NEVER had it not rain. Calling bullshit on this.
It's been interesting. I did try 3 or 4 races where I started the race with wet tires. In 2 of them it of course didn't rain, but still didn't finish in the top 3. I ended up just putting the game on Easy mode and won the race by over a minute even with a pit stop just to get done with it. It was ruining my enjoyment of the game so it was time to move past it. I think the difficulty calibration of the race is probably just off.
BB 5 is still valid for this car. The car is very stable on the brakes. Plus it’s said that rearwards BB generates more hybrid regeneration but it’s only fractional if any.
For TC. Use whatever works for you. Don’t be afraid to use it if it keeps you facing in the right direction. Ultimately you can be fastest without but it’ll only be 10ths of a second.
The 908 is good but perhaps the Porsche is better in the corners. But generally. The race is very weather dependant. You could drive exactly the same and just win because the weather catches out the ai
Tried this over and over with stock car plus the medium turbo, hard tyres and brake balance set to full rear but cannot get near even 3rd place on a no stopper? Have I missed a setting for this 919?
I think that should be everything. I’ve heard people say that Peugeot VGT car is really good. You can also de tune the super formula or the RedBull X2019 competition car too. What lap times are you getting?
Yeah the new tire wear model is the reason. The indicator is more sensitive. But the actual tire wear is similar. But maybe fractionally more tire wear than before. Tires still work right up until nearly all the white has gone.
@@Doughtinator thanx for the info. I raced this track for the 20th time or so, bad luck. But today i had heavy rain on the track with this porsche car, and won easylie, second was over 2 minutes later. So await heavy rain to beat this race.
the lambo is crazy that the front wheels don't steer or turn in, it's a weird car oh and no wiper(s) for rain ! l used the audi lmp1, drove and won it first time out-- full wets, fm6 and drove like a complete idiot even through the blackest of rain.... oh l almost forgot to say, l was in the Audi lmp1.... 06mar2023.dellthecomputer
@@Doughtinator too bad, I’m late to the party. appreciated. I’ll have to try out some different combinations on the time trial. Pretty impressive how good the handling is with the Porsche 919 w/ the hard ties though.
@@Doughtinator yeah I found out that the car uses 60% of the battery after exiting turn 9 into the hairpin… have no idea why. Can’t save the battery enough for the long straights. Was able to do 1:45’s but consistently I do like a 1:48 since battery dies so fast and can’t keep it charged.
@FMCFastmadcow drove and won it first time out-- full wets, fm6 and drove like a complete idiot even through the blackest of rain.... no pit stop Audi R18... pay no attention to dynamic battry, it's broken so just drive the wheels off the thing like there's no system at all just like you would a normal car 06mar2023.dellthecomputer
@@fernandovieira8479 yah I tried it on xuxuka and it was terrible no handling havevthe Peugeot one trying much better looking for a suzuka tunec4 it I dud the other 2 races have suzuka left lol
Better than that is Honda's Formula 1 car, better aerodynamics and fuel consumption, better grip and cornering speed, the Formula 1 car is the fastest and most agile 4-wheel vehicle in the world on circuits, there are no motorbikes, nor boats or any other land vehicle capable of beating a Formula 1 car on the track or make better lap times than a Formula 1 car, i won the Suzuka prototype race in hard mode, no pit stops and more fuel in the tank than this Porsche in the vídeo, there is really no chance compared to the F1 car
Don’t try this race with the GR010 It’s impossible. Car doesn’t turn and there are 2 AIs that don’t pit f-ing up your strategy. There’s also that stupid Hybrid Peugueoueuot that murders you and always puts .44s around the track.
@@Doughtinator yeah I'm not sure even they would say it matters. Probably just me being a douche haha! Great video though. I bought the Bugatti after working to save up my milli and that was great on Daytona, but get to the other two where there's some actual turns? It's a nightmare...
This game is so rigged bot even funny I buy the 919 for this rave abs go figure thisvfave had a no pit race and gondogure the 2 guys in front kf me conveniently somehow have no pit cars also and ended up like 25 seconds ahead this is most rigged bullshit ever seen Thankfully the menu book only needs 3rd place so dont even need to win but still this fave absurd
drove and won it first time out-- full wets, fm6 and drove like a complete idiot even through the blackest of rain.... oh l almost forgot to say, l was in the Audi .... good video mate 06mar2023.dellthecomputer
I used the Toyota formula and lapped everyone but 2nd. Learned one thing. I need a steering wheel setup. Trying that off a controller is just to much for a middle-aged fucker that hasn't dabbled with video games since the ps1. Ps5 has made me re-enter the video game scene. My god ,what a blast!
Awesome stuff man. Yeah I hear you. I use a budget Logitech G29 and it does the job pretty well. It’s not perfect but I think it’s best bang for buck 👍🏻
@Doughtinator kinda hoping my friend buys me a steering wheel setup. I gave him a brand new JL W7 13.5 A.E for Christmas and a JL 1200 HD. I Got it dirty cheap (like 7 years ago) and I'm not that interested in 139 db plus blasting me in the face anymore . I'd say he'd still be well ahead even if he blew a grand on a setup. I know he's gonna do something as he didn't give a Christmas gift yet (probably felt like crap ). Plus my birthday is around the corner. Oh well couldn't just let it sit around. What a guy
