GTA 3 Definitive Edition Made Me Sad 

If cheap money grabs like this mean that we can get another game like RDR2 I don't mind at all.

I think why the old versions of GTA are still so enjoyable is because, for the time, you could tell they put real effort into the product all around, even if perhaps the controls were a bit off. While the graphics have GENERALLY improved in the new version, things like the rain and character models actually look noticeably worse than they did back then, add on top of that some additional glitches and weird artistic decisions, like the increased viewing distance on San Andreas especially, and they really made the games feel awkward, especially because they have no good excuse in the modern day. By contrast, the older games had a clear vision and raw talent, they didn’t just rely on lazily upscaling textures with AI or increasing subdivisions on the 3D models, everything was made and tested from scratch. I think it’s so much more than simply nostalgia that makes people want to replay those old games, those games actually shipped as complete products and still work cohesively without absurd bugs, even after years of being released. Notice how the interest and respect for those old games still lives on, but I can’t say the same will be for these newer titles. In fact, one of the reasons Rockstar got rid of the older versions of GTA and is going after modders might very well be because the old versions were cheaper, and people might want them after the fallout that was pretty much guaranteed to come from these so-called “updated versions.” It’s really a sad state the gaming industry is in 20 years later.

@Hockeygod98 same. Stuck in the past when it comes to gaming. Morrowind, Daggerfall, BaldursGate 1&2, Deus Ex, Half-life and ofcourse rollerCoaster tycoon!

Especially considering THPS 1+2 ended up being the best Tony hawk game of them all.

I played the old F1 06 on PS2 emulator, and had a decently enjoyable experience. Game looks as good as it did, although gameplay-wise, pretty punishing. Then again, way less complex than today's offerings by Codemasters (granted, they are great, too, in their own way)

Yeah I don't think I ever played the gta story as a kid. Always just goofed off and found secrets and stuff.

@@coolduder1001 so its within 2 weeks of purchase and with less than 2 hours of gameplay - they can issue a refund as long as they approve it which can take up to a week And the very game that he described is only on Rockestars Game Launcher 🙂 - I figured they did this - for a game people were mad at to avoid mass refunds

The character animations are my biggest complain with these games. The graphics are great but with old character animations it makes things look awkward. They should have also allowed you to keep or buy back your weapons when you die because the mobile ports have that feature and it’s just a big disappointment that it’s not in the “Definitive Edition”.

@@joshuasimmons9679 No, because that would remove any real punishment for dying except lose some money, and not only do you get a LOT of money in this game, but there's nothing to really spend it on besides weapons, which you get anyways for finding hidden packages. Plus, the game lets you restart missions with all your weapons back when you die anyway.

@@Guitar-Dog Don’t forget we’ve also had Scots for a really long time, and the Hebrides had Old Norse, both of which had the “th” sound. Ireland had neither, so it’s not the same.

Nah GTA 3 is good in the ps2, and modded PC. This is like a teleportation experiment gone wrong where a fly got in.

They copy posted code, there's people claiming that Grove Street games even used code from mods made for the originals.

Nah, 3 was the one I just got over and done with the quickest; the sunny bright atmosphere just doesn't feel like GTA 3 at all.
