+Evan Bentley From the very beginning I bought the wrong type of colored pencils that were actually meant for the use with water. The leads are not soft at all, mainly due to the absence of wax, and if used separately the surface of the drawn over paper is rough and not at all smooth. A trick that I use to actually sort of smoothen the drawn over surface of the paper and make layering possible involves me mixing these colored pencils with Derwent colour pastel pencils. For now I use the, in my case, inappropriate Createacolor and Conte colored pencils. For the highlights of the face I mainly use a white pastel pencil or leave the small areas uncolored. The color layer loses its transparency at these face highlights as I press less on the paper with my pencil, by doing so I achieve a smooth drawing transition.

There was a mixed use of Conte/ Createacolor watercolor colored pencils and Derwent color pastel pencils for the actual drawing. When editing the video I used many video editing programs including; Son Vegas Pro, iMovie, and finally Final Cut Pro, all because of the fact that at the time I switched from PC to Mac...

I cannot imagine how long it took me to draw this!

I drew and colored everything by myself, i.e., I did some measurements in order to get the black borders whereas each icon was free-hand drawn and the coloring part was quite new to me for I had never used colored pencils that intensively!

I meant to write "...but calling my signature for this channel lame does sound a bit harsh...", my computer is really slow and lagy today which makes the keyboard work badly which results in me writing the sentences a bit wrong (writing this on my phone)!

It felt as though I wasn't ready to do that but now, upon making my 3rd drawing tutorial I must do it quite soon...I'm still learning how to make instructional how to draw videos so it would be great to get some more feedback for those drawing tutorials before I get into "real business". For now I've made drawing tutorials on how to draw Po the Panda and Master Tigresses...my Pikachu drawing tutorial is on its way!

I combined both pastels and regular color pencils the following way: after sketching the character or object with pencil I went over the sketch, being the first layer, with a white pastel and then with some skin-like color pastels (a second layer of some sorts) and then I went over the second layer with the ordinary color pencils. In regards to the outlining I just simply sharpened the black colored pencil as much as possible in order to draw the smallest of details in each "border" or "box" containing a character or an object and used 2B and 4B graphite pencils to color the actual layout outside the boxes. Shading with colors can be a bit tricky at first, I myself have experienced the difficulty of distinguishing between shading normally with graphite or ordinary pencils and shading by using a different or darker color like brown or red (this can actually be seen in my drawing of my sister), basically practice is key...
