It was pretty predictable this would happen. Also considering Salvatore pointed his gun at Toni (his most loyal foot soldier) thinking he was ratting, he would be too paranoid to allow some random person who's just done a few favours to know Leone secrets.

Actually, that rule's a half-myth... It is a rule, but in the US at least, they only enforce it when they want to keep someone from "uomo di rispetto," and being half, or finding someone who isn't Italian down the line is a very common excuse. Gotti's sons were made, despite Gotti's wife turning out to be half-Russian when they looked into her lineage. Meanwhile, made men in the Bonnero and Lucchese crime families that went rat, like Sal Vitale said that the reason Jimmy Burke was never made was because Paul Vario laid out a list of concerns regarding what Burke was proving he would do with the privilege. And if you wanna get into it with the GTA universe, there's in-game dialogue before you take out Sal that they were thinking about relaxing the rule to let Claude be made. "He ain't Italian, but they're already talking about letting him in anyways..." There were also hints Carl would be made before he likewise betrayed Sal. The level of research Rockstar put into how likely things like this would be in the real world is surpassed only by the open respect they showed GTA5 because they wanted to pull a Valve with GTA Online.

This mission takes inspiration and references from The Godfather, Goodfellas, and Pulp Fiction: In The Godfather, the way Rocco Lampone kills Paulie Gatto, is the same way Mickey kills JD. In Goodfellas, the luring and execution of Tommy DeVito is similar to that of JD's. In Pulp Fiction, whereas Vincent Vega accidentally shot a passenger in a car and they must drive to a friend's place to dispose the body, the player drives the car with a visible dead body on it and dispose of it in a river.

It would have made more sense if JD had been told to have his own car ready to be picked up with someone else going to the junkyard to pick up Mickey and Toni once they'd killed JD and crushed his car (that would have made the mission too quick and easy though).

This was purely based off Goodfellas. JD was supposed to be Tommy but JD's Irish ancestry was from Jimmy & Henry. Just by not being a full Italian should've been a giveaway

just played this mission. i knew they were gonna wack him the moment 1, they told him he was gonna be a made-man even though you cant be made if you arent 100% italian. JD had irish blood. and 2, the moment we were pulling up into the junkyard, no crime family holds a ceremony out in the open, especially in a junkyard lol.

Taking out Sindacco hitmen was intended to make the player think that JD was really getting made and not murdered , because at the beginning of the mission i was almost sure that JD gonna end up dead especially when the location was at the crusher , but then the Sindaccos came and i said no we wont be killing JD

Because JD came from Sindaccos which is Leone's worst enemy and he wanted to become a Leone but leones don't trust him that much. They used JD to know about Sindacco's plan.

@@paul_nthny Yeah I think the developers just wanted to make the mission more difficult, so they added "protect JD from the Sindaccos" and "bring Micky back to his apartment BEFORE dumping the car" for that purpose even if it's rather silly.

Remember how Claude was to be "made" by Salvatore and was sent to recover an armed Cheetah. The trick applied on JD wouldn't have worked out with Claude so that's why Sal played it the coward way. Still couldn't get Claude anyway

GTA LCS could have been an awesome game on history plot, but I felt kinda lost and disconected at the execution. You don't dive deep into Cipriani to get some sympathy, the other characters drove more attention than him, the interesting parts used basic animation, and you don't feel to have a major goal and a main antagonist to pursue it. This mission is an example: You don't get much empathy with JD, and the mission makes you drive across town only to dump JD's body on the ocean. Why not use the car crusher like any other mobster instead?!

This game has gotten pretty boring, was nice to have a mission where you had do something other than just shooting dead 100s of rival gang members spawning out of nowhere, which is pretty much what every other mission is
