GTA Vice City Stores is set in 1984 while GTA Vice City is set in 1986. Another fact: Tommy is released from jail at the beginning of GTA Vice City, meaning that during the events of GTA Vice City Stories he is still in jail.
I grew up playing vcs on my psp and now I got the opportunity to play vc as well all these years later. I've always wondered what the difference were between the two games and seeing this video made me realize that there were a lot that changed. I could barely recognize the places in vc cause it looks so different from vice city stories. I guess a lot happened in a span of two years.
1:10 i really hated how they removed those white sparkles on the ocean for no reason in vcs. they were the reason why vc beach is my favorite beach in the gta series. they made the water look so clean and beautiful and suited the miami atmosphere in the city really well too.
Some of these changes are understandable, some are for the better but some just feel pointless, they feel like changing just for the sake of changing. Like, why did they have to change the Cherry Popper? Or remove the parking lot building or Sunshine Autos?
Hardware limitations for psp. Psp has less memories than ps2 and ps3. In order to add new stuffs, they get rid of original stuffs to have more memory for them. Either by under construction or by being closed down and toned down a lot.
Where some of the buildings decommissioned or something before the events of the original story, because they we're not there in the first game? But its doe's sort of make sense since it takes place before Tommy's story!

I like the changes they made to vice city, but I don't understand why the graphics are so poor, expecially when compared to gta vc that was released 5 years before: the textures, the color palette, the lighting, the graphics effects and the rendering, i don't understand they made them worse even if gta vcs came out after gta vc
I must say when I did a playthru of VCS I felt that the map is better in vice city. The areas like both of the shopping malls are gone, I felt like the game was missing some key areas that i LOVED in vice city. Overall it was a good game but for me personally the missing areas like the malibu interior hurt to see.
