It's not Bentley powered, W12 unit is in fact Volkswagen's engine. Derived from their VR6 engine, two joined at the crank - this follow's Volkswagen Powertrain's policy of modular engines. VR6->W8->W12->W16 as an example. It is actually correct to say that the Bentley's are powered by Volkswagen's W12 unit with exhaust gas turbo chargers.
@@denizuysal9188 I worked for Volkswagen Group. It's a Volkswagen Engine, designed, engineered and validated by the engineering team at Wolfsburg. As was the W8, W16, V10TDI.
@@raijin1542 Hello Brendan, the 3B Passat had its stand alone W8 engine, not used in any other Volkswagen Group product. Whereas the W12 (WR12) was used in the Volkswagen Phaeton, Volkswagen Touareg, Audi A8 and various Bentley models. The engine codes of the these vehicles dictate the various hardware but in essence the WR12 blocks were the same for Audi and Volkswagen applications. Intake systems were different as the brands driveability target were different. The Bentley blocks were different due to the forces and thermal characteristics that turbocharging brings with it. Hence, the constituents of metal alloys used in the Bentley WR12 block were different. What I appreciate now looking back was that Volkswagen AG made the most diverse range of internal combustion engines on the planet spanning 3 to 18 cylinders for petrol and 3 to 12 cylinders for diesel.
@@ChandrinKatuwawala I've been searching for info on 6.0L - 6.3L W12 for info on hot rodding them. Trying to find out how much HP and Torque the block/crank/rods can handle. So far I've found next to nothing. I am considering swapping one of these into a 71 Chevy Nova and adding bigger turbos and extra boost. But need to know how much the bottom end can handle. I know that W16 is a beast at like 1100+ HP if I remember right. Any advice on the W12? Much gratitude for any input or links if you know any!
@@sparkimoto I can find out and let you know. What boost are you going to run? Standard internals or forged? Do you have any thermal calculations? Anyhow let me look into it and I'll come back to you.
The design for this W12 is basically taking 2 Vr6 engines and slapping them together. The result is a very narrow 12 cylinder engine. They ended up taking 2 cylinders out and made a w8 engine, which was then put in the vw passat. Then they added a few more cylinders and they had a w16 engine used in the bugatti veyron.
@@TheWallBeyond Idk if it makes sense for it to be made in a factory if its a one off car, body kit was prob hand built and custom made. I doubt they would spend hundreds of thousands on a die for a one off car.
Top 325 km/h.
There isn't now but if you had checked two weeks ago when I posted this comment maybe you would of found it. I've researched this car a long time ago and i know its a limited edition one off, but there are replicas of everything. It was a 1.9 TDI replica of this car, it was poorly built thats for sure, but it was defiantly there. If they ever post it back onto ebay UK, I will send you a personal message with the link.
i cant wait till this puppy comes to Cyprus i have to get one. and by the way this car has nothing to do with a golf. Just looks like one but drives like something tottaly diff
this car was built in 6 to 8 weeks this was never a production car it was something made fast and quick as every year WV make a concept car for show case but in this case they left it way too late and had like 2 months to come up with a car so WV took parts form supercars that are built by WV and put it in a golf gti body and they came with this
