its because of the unified core architecture and how it handles graphics.without going into serious technical detail its why old ass cards like the 8800gt were able to run new games despite its lack of dx11 and 12 but nothing before it like the 7000 series from nvidia wouldnt be able to run anything cause its based on pipelines and not the core architecture. its also why the 360 performs better in all the games they released for the 360 and ps3 together.ps3 uses pipelines and the 360 uses unified core architecture

@@gamalielgarcia3742 simply put unified cores are multiple small cores on the GPU and they can be used for various taksks where needed,Pipelines in older graphics cards use fixed function pupelines like vertex shaders,geometry shaders,pixel shaders and pipelines and some others.Problem is they are fixed function units.So if a game doesnt use vertex shaders then that part of the card is idle.Unified cores can do all of that and arent fixed to one function.I guess a good way to put it is think of a team of 10 men pushing a log up a hill evenly spread out,If they hit a bump on one side 4 of them can go and lend assistance with the heavier load(unified cores) as pipelines the men cant move and have to stay in place and wait for them to struggle with the heavier load. Its a stupid analysis but its basically how unified cores work.They can assist with anything universally in game various graphical effects and put to best use.its what they are talking about when they talk about CUDA cores and AMD calls them shader cores or sometimes just refers to them as cores

@Stormy Lol All the high power cpu does is make sure that the gpu can be used 2 its fullest potential. The video is dedicated 2 testing the gpu and how much performance it can bring 2 the table. Which is why he is making sure there are no cpu bottlenecks for the benchmarks.

@Stormy Lol I understand that. But I was surprised by the games that are not cpu based. Also cpu usage never went over 20% In valorant anyways so plenty of mid-ranged cpus would still hit similar fps anyways.

You have to set the textures to high/epic on performance mode to fix that. I have a 3060 Ti as well.

For Fortnite - the tree bugs happen with any card, in performance mode. It's a LOD bug, and a workaround is to set the render distance to Epic.

The most likely reason for the lack of full utilization of fermi hardware, under RDR2, is because the GPU pipeline is continually stalled due to continuous memory transfer operations, thank to the substantially limited vram. This is made worse by being bandwidth constrained to PCIe 2.0.

I love it so much watching those old/er GPUs being benchmarked !! More or less , about new GPUs we can guess how they will perform , but seeing how these old & legendary GPUs perform today , takes the nostalgia-hype in a whole new level !!! --P.S. Ah the good old GTX 470 😃😄 One Winter I remember testing an overclock using Furmark, it got to around 105c and was soldiering on like a champ! 🤭😂😅 Kept me lovely in warm while playing games very late at night though 👍😜 Upgraded to a GTX1060 about half a decade later. Many lovely warm Winter game sessions. What a gem 😉

These old top graphics cards are grossly underrated in my opinion. Their video chips still have enough power to compete with more modern budget video cards. But they have two major drawbacks: very old drivers and little memory. I myself own the old HD5870 and when the memory overflows, the performance drops by 2-3 times. This seems to be what we are seeing in this video, I think the difference in different games is much greater than in other video cards with a large amount of memory.

I think AMD dropped support for HD5/6000 series a bit early. I still finished Rise of the Tomb Raider with my HD6870 and tried Battlefield 1 beta and it gave me good enough performance.

19:00 meshes are actually broken on performance mode right now, only way to fix it is to set them to high. this happens on every card

Not that it would help anyone looking to game seriously with GPU that no longer have official driver support, but I recently cobbled together an old Core2 Duo system that had a GT8400 inside as a graphics card and installed Linux on it (Debian based). The official drivers were 370.0 something, very old and outdated at this point, and I tried playing some 2-D indie games like Streets Of Rogue, Enter The Gungeon etc. and there were literally graphics glitches and artifacts on the screen. I decided to to try out the open source Noveu drivers as they were much more recent. And those ended up fixing most of the graphical glitches with the 2-D indie titles. So what I'm trying to say is that it may be worth a shot to use a Linux distro with an outdated card like this using the open source drivers.

This Dying Light episode reminds me, how I played Oblivion on AMD 3200+/Radeon X1300 combo. Pretty similar framerates. But I had stamina to finish it.

quite surprised how well BF1 is optimized, i remember i tried Open beta with my GTX 770 in 2016 and it could only run medium with 50fps~, surprised that 470 can run it at low 60, that's impressive

@@lombredeshakuras1481 Technically it could be even better, but in most titles the driver support and the fact 1050 2gb is a lot newer may tip scales in favor for it. In older titles it's a different story, maybe. However, in the current market likely you'll get a 670 a lot cheaper.

Well, the remasters look a little nicer, but also run better too, so the old cards should play them nicely. That's if they don't crash because of architecture or some shit Here's the old Crysis Warhead absolutely maxed out at 1080p if you're interested, a little laggy at times because of the FRAPS recorder and the antialiasing is maxed out too - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TXnAeAaK-mo.html

I used to have a GTX 460m a long time ago, it worked but it eventually just fried it self because of how hot it kept getting. Like the motherboard had burn marks around the GPU chip.

I still have my msi twin frozr gtx 470 mounted on intel core i5 760, 4x2gb g skill ripjaws 1333mhz ddr3 & asus p7p55d-e pro since 2009 (i'm writing this from here). To be honest, I don't play videogames anymore but I remember that gtx 470 could run crysis 2 fine.. regards from argentina.

I thought that Dying Light 2 would give you a driver error message If you tried to launch it on anything older then Kepler. But then again the old drivers still contribute to the tree graphical bugs
