The police weren't exactly helpful were they? I've seen other policemen approach an unruly horse, pat and talk to them gently. Didn't see that here. John I found this horse to be worrisome. Do you carefully plan your escape route should the situation escalate? Also, when the Guard in the archway intervened for the rider, it appeared the Guard and the fellow in camis had an exchange of words. Could you hear that? Thank you and Merry Christmas one and all!
The Guard did a magnificent job with that horse; the horse didn't get to go back to the stable, maybe he won't try to get out of working next time. Kudos to the Guard who asked for assistance at least twice. It must have seemed twice as long as a regular shift and I bet his left arm will be sore. I feel sorry for them both😢
I don't blame the horse for not wanting to step in old horse 💩 from days ago. Need to clean that box up before each horse occupies that spot. Disgusting.
Sitting here, cup of coffee in hand, watching your video while watching it snow and hearing the snowplows clearing the highway behind me. Such a beautiful morning this Christmas Eve.
People forget that animals are actually intelligent, have a high level of awareness of the surroundings, and communicate. The fact that humans do not understand what is being 'said', in no way implies that the animal is stupid. Cats can smell things far beyond what humans can, to the point of being able to discern illness/disease by the 'bad scent', and have been known to bite people, to try and remove the affected area. Dogs have been known to sense an earthquake, long before there is even any surface activity. Dolphins will gather in large numbers to protect a calving mother, using the vocalisations to co-ordinate... and they have been known to kill sharks that come too close, in specific, concentrated attacks.
Masterful control he had over that horse, at any time that horse could have lost it but due to the horseman's control over himself and his horse that was a great thing to see
My goodness, What an action pact Monday that was. I am glad that you or anyone was hurt. That guard was amazing at handling that big horse. John and to all, wishing you all a Very Happy Holiday Season.❤
I do love these early Monday morning scenes you capture, when it’s quiet and the light has that particularly english watercolour quality before the tourist tsunami hits. It’s currently 6.30 am on Christmas Day here, and I’ve been up since around 3 am and this is a nice accompaniment to my hot coffee and Christmas ham sandwich brekkie. Here’s hoping they’ll be reopening soon Lol we could almost have an entirely seperate channel focussed on those signs, and whether or not they’re hung straight. Ok…..looks like we now know what it takes to get the tourists to stand behind the lines….threat of being smooshed into the cobbles like peanut butter!! That poor young stableman looked like he was completely out of ideas, but in the end realised that if they wanted the horse to stay put in the box, he’d have to stay there and hold him for the few minutes till changeover. Kudos to the trooper on board……he did the best he could with a horse that was totally determined to go back to the stable. You can tell that was the issue because he was yelling out to his mates. Normally with a horse resisting like that, you’d sit deep and drive forward into your hands, but he couldn’t do that because….people….so.many.people, so it ended up with the horse pushing sideways which isn’t optimal, but he did SO well to stay in contact.
Merry Christmas Eve! Hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Years! My time will be spent writing a letter as best as I can! Thanks for the video.cant wait to see them soon! I miss them
I have noticed some people just have to get their perfect photo right NOW. And pose as if they are a VIP. Thank you For being in the cold to take great videos.
My goodness the children are just standing there like it’s OK even I would know enough to move out of the way that horse is not peaceful where it’s standing. That horse is in distress and don’t want to be there mother move your children. What do you care anything about their lifeprobably not because you’re not making a move😮😮😮
Have a wonderful Christmas, and hope the New Year will be happy too. Thanks so much for all your hard work getting all of the great videos out for us to share. Also keeping the momentum up during the work at Horse guards💖
Shocking how long it took to respond to the button being pressed, with tourists still allowed to get close to the horse! Feel sorry for the guard riding him
Gosh Monday morning, with tranquility cos hardly any tourists. Relaxed guards relaxed horses, then back to stables. But for the Lifeguards, peace and quiet till the tourists come from the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. Not rest for the Lifeguards horses and riders. Nice looking weather no traffic racing pass. Bliss for now. 😊
In 2019 we spent our honeymoon in London. I was in awe of these beautiful massive horses. I have been hooked on these videos ever since. I did NOT try to take my picture with the horse nor did I even think it was proper. My ch respect for these men and women ❤️❤️❤️
Magnificent riding and horse sense. It’s the first time I’ve flashed on one of those scenes from old novels about a horse trampling someone in their stall. The red gloves gave me heebee jeebees, imagining a mother dropping them as she grabs a child.
It’s a shame the guards do not have head sets and the small mics to have real-time comms with their “HQ” for times like this. This guard has done a superb job with this unruly mount.
London city walks question . Did you ever think of getting the kings guards opinions on these disrespectful tourists or try to get promise to enterview to get the kings guards opinions or how they feel what could or should be changed?
Watching replay from Texas USA.. I enjoy watching your videos. Maybe what's bothering the horse is that small metal bar that's in their mouth. I am sorry if I don't know the correct word for it.
Think its called a double snaffle or double bridle, its for more control & experienced dressage riders. Guess because the Guards are one handed? The horses aren't keen because the bit is hinged in the centre,, It doesn't hurt but will move around on their tongue, so they tend to mouth it a lot. Guards have major training in all sorts of horseman ship & care.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video, the horses and guards of the King are so beautiful, handsome and awesome. I felt bad the some of people who are really rude and mean to the guards or the horses………. The guards of the King or the horses don’t deserve to be harm, insulted or harassed by those unkind and disrespectful people. They are just doing their jobs standing there and also allowing the tourist or people who can take pics…… I don’t understand why some people who would like to do inappropriate manners towards to them (the guards of the King and the horses). I hope that authorities- Mayer or police officers can help and protect the guards of the King and the beautiful horses. May be given the fine to those unkind people..….. after that, those mean and unkind people who might behave in appreciated and appropriate ways with the guards of the King and the beautiful horses….. Every human been and the animals should deserve be respected and have humanity. I believe that NO ONE and including the ANIMALS who would like to be treated in negative condition or situation…… May God bless those people who are including police officers, the guards of the King, and the beautiful horses…🙏🙏❤❤❤
Horses can get an attitude just having to get going in the morning if they are not ready. Maybe the horse had to be lead away from his food too early. I love horses. I grew up on the Bar X Ranch and some horses just got Bossy and Sassy for no good reason.
I can think of a reason. They are sentient intelligent beings. It is ridiculous that human beings act as if they like horses and in the meantime treat them like this. What kind of life is this for a horse? Sassy for no good reason?? And you think you understand horses?
People please keep you kids far away from the horses the can bolt out of the boxes anytime . They can kick bite your child seriously. I have even heard a horse biting someone's face half off. Horses are strong animals with different personalities don't take them for granted. ❤
It never ceases to amaze me how non-horse people reach to pet the horse's nose never thinking that they are putting their hands right by those horse's mouth! They are more likely to be bitten than kicked by these horses....yet they never think about that, They even encourage there children to pet the horse's nose! Why not pet the neck...? That would be a lot safer and most horses do not mind a light pat or stroke...even a bit of scratching there.
Great watching you have fun. I do recommend if they tour again go and see Queen + AL. I took my family this last fall and we all loved it. I got goosebumps the 1st time I saw Brian . Couldn't believe I was there. My grand children are total Queenies now,so Queen will be legends forever
The spooked Horse's neck chain keeps coming off. That may not be helping things. Glad they made it through their hour somewhat okay. There maybe Something in that box the horses don't like.
Hi John. Any idea whe. Horseguards is reopening as I am coming up to London on the 29th to see the play at Duke of York theatre about the Queen Mother and backstairs Billy and would like to come to HG if open. Thanks
The woman who came into frame at about 21:59 till 22:59 was not looking for a picture, she was concerned about the horse and looking for the reason for its behavior. A horsewoman maybe even a guards woman off duty. NOT a drama queen looking for a picture
I see by the guard store that these are open and the horse could step into it. I do wonder it the tourists believe this is all for show! In the end, She wins!
I think it's the bit. The horse keeps tossing his head and working his mouth. People don't realize how painful those bits can be, especially if it's not in the right position. Poor horse!
I’ve noticed that many times that this”panic” button receives very little little panic reaction. It seems to take three or four pushes do this button together a response.
That Gates man should be commended for taking charge when the mounted guard had been having a struggle for at least a half hour after the button was pushed (for a second time), Good on the Gates man. John watching from Canada.
Wow. This is my first time to hear the horse neigh. When it did, I figured it finally reached the end of her rope. I thought she was going go start bucking!
Just for curiosity sake , could you take us through the tunnel to see what’s on the other side or aren’t you allowed to? Sending kind wishes from New Zealand and thanks for your fab videos 🥰🥰
Anyone who doubts the skills of these mounted guards needs to watch how this guard kept control one-handed of this No it's Monday Morning Horse for the complete hour. Well done young man for keeping so calm, it can not be easy when so many young children are allowed so near. I'll never understand parents who seem oblivious to the possible danger to their children when around horses of that size. They are not fitted with a key you can just turn to switch them off. Excellent bit of camera work John.
Verona was pissed. The new horse smelled her and got scared. They are really cute, I like to see them but I don’t want them to suffer for our entertainment.
All hell will break out by the stables when that footguard and horseman and MOD police get into the office and want to know where everyone was when a horse was determined not to be cooperative ! And rightly so. This one could end up on the COs desk.
The Lifeguards had just arrived for duty , two horses in the box so 9/10 in the stables to be unsaddled and settled in the stalls , all the kit to be unloaded and unpacked the stablemen would not be sitting around doing nothing . The call button goes through to the Guards room it would be unlikely anyone was there , someone came when they could . It's actually nothing to do with the MOD police they are there for security reasons , unfortunately Verona didn't choose her moment to have a " mare " well !
This is absolutely pitiful. What if the horse is in physical pain? We get migraines and all sorts of ailments and yet, a horse which may well have the same type of pain, not to mention the emotional distress of being laughed at (don't believe they don't understand... a sneer is a sneer in any language) is required to simply stand there while person after person comes along, touches their nose, their back, their neck... you wouldn't allow your neighbor to touch your child or your dog or your wife. Strangers touching these horse... IMHE I don't think it should be permitted... and, an improperly placed bit or something as small as a small stone in the hoof could cause any horse extreme misery.
See the troopers cross belt with a small bag on the Troopers back, the bag alone costs roughly £300 to £500 if it’s an officers bag which will be Ornate hand sewn beautiful they are £1000.00 probably more now I’m going on 15 years ago. I went to a factory to see how they were made and many outsourced to other countries. Amazing artistry a real eye opener and great to see how it’s all made.
@@suzannelewis761 'The cartouche box (on the cross belt, visible at the rear of the uniform) has not changed, for either Officers, Musicians, or rank and file, since 1856.' 'With the introduction of flintlock weapons (i.e. pistols and carbines), they were essential for carrying powder and shot, but with the inception of percussion weapons (in 1840), and the breech-loading Martini Henry Carbine, they became purely ornamental.'
@@LondonCityWalks they are known as a pouch, I know the cartouche was a pouch but widely known for many years as a pouch. The cartouche box was for weapons and powder bullets etc. Very interesting. And yes now purely for ornate purposes nowadays.
Guard did an amazing job.tourists need to give guard space so he can deal with horse when unsettled not stand in the way laughing ,it,s no laughing matter
Is there something wrong with the horse’s mouth? Do ever get to film in the stables or where the horses are in a pasture setting? Where are those 7 horses coming from? Can you film that area? Thanks❤
During most of the video I hear a high pitched (maybe jackhammer?) sound in the distance. I lost low decibel hearing as a child, thus hear higher pitched noises. Could this be reason behind the horse’s nerves? Poor horses have so much to try to self-soothe against. I actually thought a bank alarm was ringing in the distance. It was very bothersome to me. Probably reverberates within the stone box too. 💙
I thought the exact same thing. First thought it was an alarm, then figured out it was jackhammers. The poor horse was probably irritated by the constant sound. I know I was!!!!!!
For goodness sake why do the soldiers leave that poor guard to deal with the unhappy horse , why are the soldiers there as they dooooooooo nothing 52:34
Good heavens it has nothing to do n with the 'mood' of the horse. The poor thing is having an issue with its mouth ... check that bit and his tongue. A horse does not behave like that becsuse of a mood .. good grief I feel sorry for these horses. So unnatural and uncomfortable to just stand anyway. I hate this
Well we all know how the tourists ignore the signs to do what they want instead. Too many people self entitled on another level. They dont respect the rules. What they should remember is, its not their premises or their horses and to give personal space to the guards. Even if they manage all that, they will still go in the arches 😂
