That's great! You will love it. Where are you planning on going? One of our highlights of our trip was staying at the Zephyr Lodge in Semuc Champey. It is a bit more geared towards a party vibe, but the infinity pool with the views across the valley... Really amazing.
@@NaickKim Not really sure lol. I have been to a few places in Central America over the years. In the past I have planned everything in advance but now I just might go with the flow. I have 2 months to just take my time. I am really into slow travel now. I want to find a place to relax and hike and read and wander around. I love to sit and people watch and explore. What other places would you recommend?? Keep in mind that I am a YOUNG 49. I enjoy hostels and hanging and and meeting people of all ages. I am obsessed with your videos. Just the right length for me. Humor and informative. So well done.
Cool video. I'm going to Guatemala in February 2020 (after El Salvador and before Mexico). I was surprised to hear from people who've been that it's often pricier than Mexico! I haven't utilized AirBnB that often but it seems like that's the way to go if you want a more local experience. However, being a solo traveler makes it a little tougher since there are quite a few hostels with dorm beds for $7-10. I'm definitely looking forward to hitting that street food scene hard, enjoying some tasty meals all while saving $. Cheers guys.
Guatemala is beautiful. The biggest budget 'breaker' in GT is transportation. Take as many chicken buses as you can and that will go a long way to helping your budget :) if you go to Antigua, we highly recommend our AirBnB, it was such a cool spot with incredible hosts!
@@NaickKim I'm all about the chicken buses. I've heard the tourist shuttles, although convenient, are insanely expensive in comparison. I also hitchhike a lot when I travel but I really need to work on my Spanish to make that easier to accomplish effectively. Did you say the exact name of the AirBnB in the video? I don't remember. If not, would you mind sharing the name? Happy travels!
@@TheHamburgler123 yes it's the tourist shuttles that are insanely expensive. Say about 30 USD pp for a 5 hour drive. Bye bye budget for that day, haha. For the hitchhiking, we've done it as well in a couple countries and love it too, but we heard both from locals and other travellers that it's not safe in (some parts of) Guatemala. So maybe check before you decide to do it :) the AirBnB name is Casa Roja, in San Pedro Las Huertas. 10 minutes or so by chicken bus from the center of Antigua. We loved it there.
@@NaickKim $30!? Ouch. I'm sure that same ride would be a few bucks on a chicken bus. Convenience comes at a steep price it seems. Thanks for your concern about my safety. I've done my research, and have enough previous experience, to give hitchhiking in the region a chance. I'm going to stick to shorter routes though because hitchhiking is very inefficient when it comes to time management. Thanks again for the info!
$15 USD per person per day is our target. We will see if we can do it but I think it will be OK because our lodging cost is only $5 per day pp. (We're going to splurge a few days though to rent a place with a pool).
Good for you guys! It's mostly the longer distance transport that will rack up your budget in Guatemala, i.e. the tourist shuttle buses. Sometimes alternatives are limited but the chicken buses for example are really cheap & a great experience (we have a video on those). You'll have a great time in Guatemala, I'm sure of it ❤️👍🏻
