It was surprising to find that the region Geunther is from is actually Italy, because his name, and the way he rolls his R's sounds so Germanic...but I get it.
Yeah that region (Trentino Alto Adige) borders with Switzerland and Austria, so they both speak German and Italian there depending on which part you are in, that's why Geunther has an accent
Yeah but I think they are obligated to speak italian. But from where he comes its a german speaking region. Thats why his name is german and his accent.

Guenther Steiner was born in the far north of Italy, in a district which was under Austria till 1918, then it has been given to Italy, after WW1, with its austrian population, speaking german of course. Their mother tongue is german, they speak german among them, but they are italians by citizenship, they study italian at school, they are all fluent both in italian both in german language
