a girlfriend who worked in the fashion industry in Boston 32 years ago gifted this to me. It has been my all time favorite since then, and i have a huge collection i use it at least once a week. the original bottle lasted me a few years. Thank you AC
Surprisingly, I haven’t tested Habit Rouge, but since I am starting to appreciate more classic scents, this will come to my collection. Thanks, AC Cheers
Hello AC. One of my all time favorites. As I mentioned before, my wedding day scent. It never gets old and, I never tire of the scent. It is also wife approved. Great memories with this one. Thanks for the video.
i think i would very likely wear habit rouge on my wedding day as well, if not then maybe heritage. and if it was outside in high heat, perhaps eau de guerlain haha.
i have an old 80s gold cap bottle...no "dusty" sensation in the old version to me. i get a dusty thing with alot of reformulated stuff that lost its real oakmoss. its truly a masterpiece in every sense, no hyperbole no exaggeration. i wish i could wear it every day as a signature, but that vintage juice is very precious. i agree about not being dated, you can tell it was made long ago but its nowhere near "old man" or "dated". any mature, sophisticated person can wear it, and ive had more positive feedback from habit rouge than probably any other vintage fragrances i have. Jean Paul Guerlain is a true master artist.
I just got this in the new square bottle and it's still beautiful, I had run out of the bottle style that you have and honestly I can't believe that this was made in 1965 it's so artful and creative that 60 years later I can still wear this in the UK today on a warm day in May. Even after a shower at night I put 1 spray to go to bed.
theirry wasser invented an EXCELLENT oakmoss accord using the fractionated legal oakmoss but with ingredients from carrot seed to fill in the missing bits if i remember correctly. the newer bottles may indeed be better than the "listerine" style bottles but i havent smelled them to say.
it is a classy masterpiece for sure, more for the cold weather in my opinion, I enjoy it even when staying at home, I have a 200ml bought in 2019, good to have you back AC!
What a master perfume reviewer you are! I really love Habit Rouge EDT and wondered what the mystery was behind its liking. I have searched and searched and you answered this beautifully, thank you!
AC, I’ve figured it out. You are your favorite reviewers, favorite reviewer. You are thorough, compassionate and educated on these fragrances. Others can learn from you. I have Habit Rouge and it is a bonafide compliment getter. I wore it to work with slacks, sweater and sport coat; received a compliment at work, at lunch and later in the day on the train. They said “you smell like a barbershop in a good way, “ you smell ..rich; last one was “that’s different, but so good”. What is it?”
What a coincidence, I just reviewed this a couple of days ago, I just sprayed this as my SOTD a few mins ago, switched on my TV and saw your re-review. This is a wonderful fragrance, it would be a solid 10/10 for me, but it doesn't perform as well as I would like on my skin. I actually own 3 100ml bottles 😅
So rarely do I use the word masterpiece, but I can make an exception for this fragrance. ❤ Wasn't a fan back when I was a newbie, but it eventually overtook my heart. Had to start with the L'eau flanker. Rouge Prive easily my #2 after the edt, but I've yet to smell the new parfum. Don't think either will be dethrowned though. There was an extrait made in 2009 that would be fascinating to try too. Appreciate the review AC!
You're one of the best fragrance reviewers on RU-vid. Please review habit rouge parfum. I have a decant of the EDT and absolutely love it like you do but wanted to buy a bottle and don't know which one to get. Parfum or EDT?
It's very versatile and totally unisex. Just avoid it in extreme hot weather if no air conditioning. It's very reassuring and quiet luxuriesque. Thank you for the interesting video.
Hi sir, To me it is like 'Galib' of scents, nothing does what it does, every revisit to it just reinstates what a brilliant masterpiece it is. Would love to hear your views on women line of Amouage, especially epic woman, absolute beauty 😊.
Many RU-vidrs said this perfume is difficult to pull off. During last Christmas I saw a good deal and bought it. ( The square bottle) I find it a fabulous perfume. I have to dress smart as a teacher and it goes well with my outfits. The mental image of this perfume for me is, walking through a garden with full of lemon trees on a sunny day but the floor is vary sandy. ( Maybe it's the vetiver) Great review AC as always. Keep them coming 😀 Thanks 👍
One of my all time favorites, I've been using it for over 40 years, when it was the edc formulation. I like it best in late Winter going into early Spring. I also have 3 of the vintage soaps/savons de toilette, which are fabulous. The Edt didn't come out until a bit later and I only added it to my collection recently, but I also like it very much. I agree with you about the edp, I got a decant and am not a fan, but am curious to try the extrait, now discontinued. Please review if you happen to come across it. It’s not the same as the parfum. And I don't like/won't buy those new square bottles! I'm also a long time fan of Héritage, which is perfect for Autumn. Enjoyed your latest review on this wonderful and (in my opinion) timeless classic!
I would love to hear what you have to say about OHTOP fragrances. I just purchased their collective kit and just tried “I hate Rose” and I fact, it’s wonderful.
Hi AC, I would like to ask you to review the new Guerlain L’Homme ideal platine privè, and conpare it with the discontinued ideal cologne flanker. Thanks! And keep making great content!
Cheers A.C. Exquisite scent for sure The edt really shines and portrays its true beauty, I have 2 x 2003 bottles and a 50 ml of the edp modern, which is quite different with the addition of a western Oud vibe and of course its deeper and less uplifting and bright as the OG edt but I wear and enjoy it nonetheless.great review and a great little fragrance ✌️🙏👍
AC- I know exactly what you mean about Habit Rouge. It puts you in a completely different frame of mind! It has the power to transport you to a different place entirely! Great review! I wonder what your thoughts would be to compare the version you have (silver cap) with the later iterations. To my nose, the newer versions are not bad, it’s still Habit Rouge, but there’s a depth, an intricacy found in the silver cap that is missing in the newer versions. Again, not bad, but thinner. Even the ingredients on the box listed on the newer versions, there are a few ingredients from the silver cap that are no longer listed on the newer boxes: BENZYL SALIICYATE, BENZYL BENZOATE, FARNESOL, and COUMARIN. So, I don’t think it’s my imagination. But, interested to hear your thoughts. Again, great review, as always!
Thank you very much. I currently do not have a sample of the new formulation, but one day when I do, I will certainly do a comparison video. Most appreciate your inputs I think they are quite helpful.
@@SmellsGoodfragrancereviews So excited to see the new squared edt bottle comparison, been wondering the difference for so long but no one did it, really looking forward to the comparison video!!
AC is the reason why I have 2 bottles of the EDT and EDP silver cap. and 2 bottles of the EDT and EDP Listerine bottle. hoping to get the new bottles soon. especially the prive.
Hello sir, if you get a chance please try the new habit rouge prive. People say it's a more intense version of the edt with enhanced leather. The perfumer is Delphine Jelk
Riding a city bus here where I live in Poland today, a young-ish man took the seat next to me and within a moment I caught a simply mesmerizing fragramce. I stayed silent as long as I could but finally had to ask, "Do you speak English?" "Yes, how can I help you?", he replied. "Do you use fragrances?" "Yes, I do." "You're wearing something today, I think." "Yes." "Well, it's FANTASTIC, just amazing." He was quite pleased. I asked him what it was and he was hesitant, then commented it was really a combination of things. He seemed shy about spilling the secret, but if I heard him correctly there was some layering of Baccarat Rouge and Ganymede involved, but I'm not 100% sure I heard correctly. Does that combination sound plausible?
Sir, if I may make e request: Try the new Afnan trio from the edict line : Ouddiction, Musctique and Amberthyme. Afnan really meant business when releasing these three
