Great video again Marek - was waiting patiently for the last part ☺ My mum worked at Castle Cornet for 20 years after she retired at 60. When she retired from there, they organised to make her dream come true and she fired the midday gun 😄 Thank you so much for letting me revisit my home, albeit via a video. 🙏🙏

I explored Castle Cornet on my next day. It was wonderful. I pretty much had the whole place to myself. It is great they let her fire the midday gun.

I'm just about to go back to school (starts tomorrow) and moved back in with my parents but one day, I shall have time and money to travel again and Guernsey is yet another place I want to see now.

Your videos are great- I especially liked this Guernsey series- interesting, fun and with a graphic novel recommendation (I've meant to buy my friend dahmer for a while... but have skipped that and bought trashed first). Keep it up... I hope you get many, many more subscribers.

Guernsey Toms ( Guernsey tomato) two days before the island’s invasion and occupation by the German Army, trucks loaded with tomatoes at the harbour for export to the British mainland were mistaken for military trucks and attacked by three German bombers. 33 people were killed and 67 injured 🇬🇬

Loved this episode Marek. We've really enjoyed the Guernsey series. Similar in places to the Isle of Wight I thought. Definitely on my list of places to visit now. The hallucination bit had me laughing out loud. Poor 'Sunglasses Marek' looked quite ill. 🤮🤢 Have you checked up on him? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍

Five fifty for a bacon sandwich and a can of coke seemed a bit steep to me. I guessed three quid, I lucky enough to have a place near my work where I can get a bacon roll for one pound sixty five.

Cheers Marek - lovely walk. I'd probably be a 4-dayer for me (at least). Re The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society not actually being filmed in Guernsey: when I was a lad, there was a drama on ITV called Enemy At The Door. It was about the German occupation of Guernsey and was ITV's response to the BBC's Secret Army. Only - much to the dismay of Guernsey dwellers - the outside shots were filmed at its bigger neighbour, Jersey 🙄 What next? Guernsey's local news filmed in Shetland?

Ha. Years ago I wrote a script for a spoof Bergerac series set on the Isle of Wight. It got quite far down the line but nothing got made. One of the execs said to me 'Would we be able to film it on the mainland UK to cut costs'.

Aah, the conclusion to the Guernsey walk. Always feel a bit sad 😪when there's a conclusion to anything really. And your sketches and piano forte at the end make me giggle and are excellent 👍Parts of the walk reminded me of other places, whose names escape me, but look like bits of Galway or Cornwall with rocky outcrops and fogous and fairies. Psychedelic Sunglasses Marek looked way out there man with his cherry gummies pretending to be pineapple flavour 🤪I used to like a Pineapple Mivvi myself back in the day, but I digress....The only encounter I've had with CBD is in the form of a very expensive cream for aches and pains, which did absolutely nothing for me, but cost an arm and a leg so I won't be partaking of any gummies any time soon! Looking forward to the next walking adventure Marek! Will be doing a bit of walking myself soon (or hobbling in my case) on IOW in 2 weeks time! x J x

@@cdwc Oh well, if you are doing a stroll along Ryde Seafront on the Sunday taking photos of all the old vintage cars I will give you a wave! They usually have my dad's old Austin something or another there which the owner lets me sit in and be nostalgic for a short while! 🚙🙂

Theirs a walk every year that’s called the Saffery Rotary Walk which you walk around the whole island for 1 day You start at 5am and finish when you can It’s great fun but very difficult

A few people have mentioned that. It sounds horrific. I walked across the Isle of Wight once in a day and the was 27.5 miles and exhausting.

I kind of love the idea of Sunglasses Marek taking random drugs by accident a lot. The effects were great too, and I loved seeing Buster in the flesh. Legendary dog that. also your piano playing is coming along fantastically.

Excellent work cool dude! Jersey next perhaps at 48.5 miles perimeter or Alderney at a mere 10? I quite enjoyed the film you mentioned but a shame to hear they didn’t film much locally. Hoping one day to do a trip to the Channel Islands.

don't know if anyone from here )local) has mentioned the saffry walk thats ALL the coast and people do it in a day start at 4am or sooner and get into town many many hours later, that the WHOLE coastal walk. in less than 24 hours, and for those that think its easy you not seen the north to south and south to west coast thats the killer the ups down and hills and steps will do you in ,some do it as a relay team but its still a hard walk .

Getting lost in Guernsey looks like fun, you stumble upon some amazing stuff! That prehistoric tomb thing looked cool. I remember when u were compiling your spotters guide and I thought “fairy garden” would be quite an obscure find, but you seems to spot one on every walk lately! 🧚🏽‍♂️ Congrats on another legendary walk, Marek and thanks for sharing your adventures with us- you have put Guernsey on my radar so hope one day I’ll see if for myself! 😃

Cool dude facts .... in the video at time frame 10:50 you will see a no 7 in a red circle on the side of the Cock and Bull pub wall these were route markings the Germans had to navigate the island during the occupation . You did well walking up that hill i tell ya , my hotel was up there past Victor Hugo's' house. Is Jersey on the cards Marek ?

@@cdwc Genuinely surprised by that - I don't know about video cams but I've noticed that your little interludes have been quality. Same as John Rogers, but he definitely does use a big expensive-looking thing - so that's impressive work with a GoPro. The opposite of 'all the gear, no idea' I guess.

Being an Isle of Wight resident I can't possibly compare them both .They are both spectacular though. There are large sections of the Isle of Wight Coastal Path (Ryde to Cowes) which aren't very good and also the Guernsey Coastal Path has too much road walking at times and some very tough bits. I would say they are equal. Ha.
