Man, seeing these reactions to the high earners actually does put some perspective to my parents' earning power. I'll just say that both of them earn at least 6.5 times I currently make, so it's only in the working world do I realise how hard it is to hit their level.
Starting off your finance career in High Finance (e.g. Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, etc. ) is no easy feat and definitely abnormal. The guy either has a really good resume, knows people or both. I don't know how the show is run in Singapore but typically in the US, High Finance roles are 60++hr work weeks in an extremely cutthroat and demanding environment. Can understand why he made the switch from IB to tech lol
Is not that hard. A good GPA in math or Finance or economics plus maybe masters and internship is easy to get in. But those will need to be from top Russell group universities from UK or Ivy league in US or top international university etc
Finance pays well, and they work their people really hard. That is a well-known fact. So it is really no surprise that the two high earners are making that much in their jobs.
no wonder my family advised that it is reasonable to ask for higher salaries as a local. It is more expensive to hire a foreign talent compared to local.
@@cancanjaker1620 yup, as long as the employee is really good at his work to bring in more profits for the company. Companies are generally looking for employees who have a large pool of connections or experts in their fields.
3:20 the host really don't know how to estimate when he starts with 60k. Although I am surprised at the end where he is making 220k, but I will be guessing 120k< right from the start. The host is probably mislead by the median income of $4.5k/mth for Singaporean so he starts all guesses at 60k/yr.
Can you do more vids like guys/ girls having 1 sided love and how to deal with it and also why nowadays a lot of ppl treating their guy /girl best friend like couple but in the end they just ending up in friend zone
Go into high-growth industries (therefore pay well) like tech companies and do business strategies or go into finance and do trading (always paying well). As a local, you are preferred anywa.
@@DonYang73 i know but i want to know their backgrounds, like is it due to their degrees and achievements that got them the job or the pure work ethic etc
@@merc1lessgaming126 in public sector, need to have good degrees, and to be chosen to be division head management level, mostly will be scholars so they will have Masters degree in Ivy League equivalents like Yale or Oxford. The youngest div heads I know can reach that around 35 years old. In private, consulting and investment banks will pay almost $10,000 for fresh grads, so I assume they can reach $20k within 10 years. And to get in, not only do you need relevant internships which only target schools have that connections, but also good looks, high EQ to make their bosses like them and offer a conversion.
that 2nd/4th dude who earned like 20k/month... and they doesnt even sound local. goes to show our country who are the top earners and is being sellout to FTs
To be frank, 10 to 20k are not the majority but aplenty among Singaporeans in their mid-career. You will likely not find such singles strolling along Singapore river. They either drives to their intended destination or have families or might have refused to take the interview. The choice of interview location really influences the demographics of your interviewees.
20k/month is actually pretty common, for most people even just to live in a new landed such as terrace, they have to make at least 30k/month for a comfortable living and owning a car probably isn't even taken into consideration.
here you go people, income inequality =) before you start saying "oh they work hard for it" oh please many people work hard for it but dont get there. its all about luck and social connections. ure even luckier if youre born in the riches.
If I'm earning 20k per month. I would be doing mrbeast level content for Singapore everyday but that dude just want to study in the US???? Why??? Can increase salary to 30K per month as a Strategojek dealer????
he's probably at the point whereby he no longer cares about how much he is earning and is just pursuing knowledge on things that he enjoys learning about..
Im earning 30k/annual. It’s not even enough after deducting all those debts and expenses. Singapore lifestyle is expensive, and I hope everyone dont lose hope. Buy more crypto or nfts. Lol
@@ivylim8612 i think he's indonesian also. don't think an indonesian company gladly hire top management based in spore to be filipino unless he;s in charge of the philipines market or something.
foreigners earn more in our own country....Condo/Maid/Car...some are even priviledge to be paid all these by the companies...sad reality for singaporean whom are born here!!!
It depends on your lifestyle. Unless you are a millionaire in Singapore, it is inadvisable to rent a condo with a high cost of living. HDBs are much better. 220000is much more than enough to sustain there.
@@Legend-dn7uu 5k is mediocre 2bed condo, what are you talking about kid? Though with family you spent 2-3k per kid for school, 2-3k for groceries, so after all expenses you literally are with 0 savings. Maybe 54k average is enough for locals, as they can own HDB and public school for kids, but 220k for expat family is nothing
