We finally finish the Guest room ready for our guests.
Come along with me this week in Orlando where I run around trying to get organised for our first guests, my parents.

It's lovely to have your parents over, I hope they have a lovely time and you and Zara have lots of fun with them. Your dad could pass for Jason's dad lol. We live in Chicago which has nowhere near the crazy bugs and animals you have in Florida but we still have spiders and bugs etc as the season changes so we have a pest control company come twice a year to spray around especially outside the house and we've definitely noticed a huge reduction in the number of bugs we see each year. It may be an option for you in Florida and I'm sure there are also DIY options as well which are cheaper. The spiders we have are not too crazy but enough to freak out my daughter but we have a lot of house centipedes in Chicago and while harmless they freak me out lol.

Ah we loved Chicago when we came last year, I would love to go back sometime, loved being wrapped up in cosy clothes. Zara had a bad ankle when we were there too so we couldn't walk around as much as we usually would. Thank you for watching xx

also...when I watched your vlog about the night walk you and Jason took and saw a snake, I litteraly decided to change the spec house we were buying in Floida on the lake to one away from the lake! Just so you know, your channel is valuable. Nothing boring about it!

Ahhh I can’t believe it you walked past me at Posner park on Wednesday carrying the pictures you bought but you looked in a rush so I didn’t want to stop you as I thought you’re parents were already here 🤪 and then I just saw you were at Disney Springs Friday morning and so were we!! Hi Katie just a little tip about the spider, keep a hand held little vacuum upstairs so if you see one again just vacuum it up and if you want you can release it outside somewhere 😊. Take care and have a wonderful weekend

Great vlog Katie……..I must admit I had to turn my iPad over and just listen during spidergate as I’m petrified……in fact we found one in our pool one morning, an ex pretty big spider, luckily my friend sent me in the house while he got it out. The spare room looks lovely and cosy……..I’m sad I didn’t get to meet up with you, hopefully next time, but enjoy time with your parents

Lol you absolutely can move because of bugs 😂😂wait until a plametto bug flies at you. You'll be on the next flight back to the UK. When you see the spider, spray him with hairspray! It stuns them and makes them go slow so you can whack him

What fun to have Mum and Dad to stay. Will make your new home seem more like home. Their room is just lovely. Another option for a long mirror would be inside the walk in closet on the back of the door if the light is bright enough. Spidergate was entertaining. But not fun if folks have a real phobia. Like other have suggested, I have a “stick” rechargeable vacuum that sucks the bxxxxxs up. You sort of get used to dealing with them. But when you get one like that it stays with you for awhile. Had a baby tarantula once sunning itself outside my office door at work. Tried to flick it away with a ruler and instead it went up inside the outside wall.

So pleased you will have this time with your family, Katie. For the spider, I feel construction disrupts so many creatures homes and forces them out. I’m guessing once your neighborhood is completed, those spiders will move on. Just my experience.

Katie, some advice from an allergy family re the oat milk issue. We would preface everything with. “I have an allergy to dairy so I NEED oat milk”. They will definitely hear that. Ours is an anaphylactic peanut allergy and we literally start every conversation with, “Rachel has a life threatening peanut allergy….” We have to, because she has. That Raglan road incident was terrifying. Good luck!

Hi Katie, there's a good chance that was a Wolf spider. Best thing you can do it spray it with bug spray. Don't step on it! They are known to carry their babies on their backs, and if it is, stepping on it will send hundreds of baby spiders scattering in a million directions. It's happened to me before, and it's the stuff of nightmares. You haven't received your FL baptism until you have a flying roach in your house. Yeah, the bugs here are bad. Keep yourself stocked in Raid.

It would be a shame if your , friend, was to move because of spiders 😄don't forget there's huge ones back here in the UK too and it's that time of year where I have to start spraying peppermint and tea tree oil all round the doors and windows . Hope you find the brute and evict him, I'm absolutely terrified of spiders too but I try not to kill them. Living in North Devon we have to go to either London or Birmingham when we come to Florida which is at least a 4 hour drive , which is a pain

It's not a big deal. It probably left and they are harmless. The sole reason you have so many is because you live in a new construction area...all the homes going up and the digging, etc. bring out more bugs. Been in Florida over 30 years, trust me. lol

I'm so glad you got the spider situation worked out. I laughed when you ate the Tajin gummies. That is definitely an acquired taste! I used to hate it, but I kind of like the weird salty, sweetness with a mixture of spicy now. I also love the guest room! We need to hang soon whenever you are back from the cruise!!!

I love the music at the beginning of the vlog, I know Im going to enjoy yourvlog. As a geordie, I often have trouble with Americans not understanding my accent. In shops where they ask for your name I say Hall, but they say Holl! 😂 Love the spare bedroom, it looks very cosy., you did a great job there. When I lived in Derbyshire I'm not kidding there was a spider in my sons bedroom the size of a Dinner plate, my then husband dealt with it I don't know how but he wasn't in there very long he came downstairs and he said its gone. When I first saw it I thought my boys had drawn it on the wall. It didn't look real. Then it moved and I ran lol. Xx Your Mum and Dad will love that room xx

Omg Katie ..I live in Palm Coast and new home too and even though our house has been treated for bugs we've had so many spiders and others , but that bloody spider was huge !!! Great info thank you because I've ordered a couple to spray in our house lol .🇬🇧🇺🇸

Love your videos 😊 but this one started and I’m thinking just curious haven’t you got spiders in England and where ever you’ve lived? You were so funny 🤣. I’m with you don’t worry when it comes to spiders. Come to Australia 🇦🇺 and you will know about spiders. A lot of people say leave them alone as they are more scared of you, but I kill them if I can. I love those bug sprays. If there are any more they will die.

No spiders at all in Qatar, or not that we seen anyway. Yes there are spiders in the UK but not usually that big, and we know in the UK that they’re not poisonous. I was only worried it was poisonous after the chat I seen on FB earlier that day, someone had seen one. I know how bad they are in Australia and that’s why we said we could never move there 😂😂 but turns out this place has some big ones too! Xx

Isn't it crazy that you never see these native creepy creatures when you're on vacation at Walt Disney World, but when you come live there because you love vacationing in Florida and Disney so much, then you come upon this reality!😵‍💫

I know we have only ever seen lizards here and not much else maybe the odd cockroach, we had no idea they had big spiders here!! xx

The amount and size of the bugs in Florida is the main reason I could never live there. Did you identify the type of spider? I know many of them are considered beneficial I just can not stand the sight of anything scurrying around indoors.

The bug guy eventually came around and he said it was probably a wolf spider, but whatever it was I don't want it here haha!!! I know people say that they eat other bugs but I just couldn't settle knowing he was running around the house. Thanks for watching xx

It's unfortunate but that is one of the things we have to deal with in Florida is the bugs. There's all kinds of different species. The things you're buying from Walmart are foggers or bug bombs as we call it. They recommend not being in the house while they go off. Me personally I love spiders. We just catch them in a cup with a paper under and place them outside.

Dying 2 know how come ur mum & dad flew from MAN - MCO w/ Aerlingus & not w/ TUI according to the NCL website there are 2 flights per week during the summer months NCL - MLB I checked on Flightradar24 its only on Saturday now in Sept, Dont mind the spiders as they kill smaller pests around house especially when outside temps, get lower . It’s a lot more money to fly with Tui from Newcastle unfortunately, they can keep the price high because they have the monopoly 🤷🏼‍♀️ A lot of people say that about the spiders but I just couldn’t let it run around the house, too worried it will be in my bed at night 😂😂 luckily we have only had one roach in the house x

Eek. I better not show this to my Mrs and daughter. We’ve seen a few little ones in 2 yrs but not big black ones. Black widows are little black ones so it’s most likely harmless. Nobody has ever died here from a spider bite. I’m pretty sure. Can you get it identified? Put it on social media someone will tell you what it is.

The bug guy (when he finally rang me back) said he thinks it was a wolf spider 😳 he said they come inside when it’s been wet which it has. I’m just hoping we don’t get anymore coz I can’t deal with the drama again!! X
