because you cant log into your appeid via the settings, is there any functionality not working after this procedure? Is the phone afterwards jailbreaked and not able to update via Apple?

Your iPhone will be iCloud locked. You can try PassFab Activation Unlocker to unlock Apple ID and all you need is to trust the computer to make your iPhone be recognized by the software.

Once the activation lock is removed, you will no longer be able to use any SIM card-related features or log in to your iCloud account(Apple ID) in the settings. But you can connect Wi-Fi, sign in Apple ID in App Store and download Apps.

If you didn't set a passcode, you will stuck on activation lock if you use PassFab iPhone Unlocker. I suggest you to try PassFab Activation Unlocker to unlock Apple ID if you don't have a screen passcode.
