Beginners' overview of getting started building pedals. I am using the stripboard layout of the EQD Arrows pedal (all credit for this layout goes to Storyboardist).
Thanks mate, just know that you will run into issues. Everyone does. Be kind to yourself and don't quit, but know when to start from scratch. I hope you have fun 👍
There is the thing of finding out which way around the non electrolytic capacitors go by figuring out what end is the outer part of the film. You can do this by holding the capacitor and touching it against your guitar lead plug with the other end plugged into your turned on amp. The less noisy way around shows you which end of the capacitor is the outside end of the film.
The footswitch on my chinese vox wah pedal seems to have do three things. One click turns the power on, a second click turns the wah on and a further click switches the pedal off completely
Amazing tutorial, today I made one myself but I changed a few values cause I did not have them. I wanted to use it with my modular system and took a few components from an old answering machine. I have no idea but it works even without 9V power and it seems a 9V makes no difference.
Always glad to help. I really want to make a series of videos but it's been a busy year. I mainly use Tayda (international) and diyguitarpedals.com.au (great beginner video channel on here too, check it out), but if you're in the USA Small Bear is about as good as it gets. Get onto the forums and Facebook groups for diy stompboxes and guitar pedal builders too. There are lots of shops dedicated to pedal builders and tons of online resources. It's really taken off in the last 10 years!
That's just 100 ohms. It can be written like that, or 100R. Or possibly other ways too! I have no idea. 100k is 100,000 ohms so swapping them out would make a bit of difference. In most cases 15-20% difference wouldn't affect a pedal circuit much (you could throw in an 82 ohm or 120 ohm resistor with little noticeable difference)
