Hanging Rock State Park has the beautiful view from Hanging Rock, a rock outcropping that overhangs a cliff. It's a park with much more than just the signature Hanging Rock with water falls, a beach, boat rental, camping and lots of trails. This is a short guide to Hanging Rock trail, Indian Creek Trail up to Window Falls, and a quick view of the beach area.

Yes indeed. It's one of the top 5 NC State Parks from my point of view.

Make sure you hit the Lower Cascades when you return. They are the prettiest by far and there is a wonderful swimming hole that almost seems partially enclosed by the sides of the rock walls. It’s an easy hike down to the falls, and you won’t regret it!

I like the trail that goes behind the lake to a fire tower at the top. It affords great views into Virginia.

Thanks for the great video. We just came back today from climbing to the hanging rock. The trail was much rougher than we expected, but we’ll worth the trip. Tomorrow we’re visiting Pilot Mountain. Did you go there, too? We look forward to watching your videos to help us decide where to go next.

I would suggest using a pair of adjustable hiking poles. Shorten them slightly for the uphill hike and lengthen them for the downhill. That takes a lot of pressure off your knees. Works for me - changes you into a quadruped temporarily 😀
