This is a fun video in which V and I climb the tallest mountain in Vietnam. You're welcome!
Fansipan is a mountain in Vietnam. The height of the mountain was 3,143 meters in 1909, but now the height of the mountain is 3,147.3 meters. It is the highest mountain in Vietnam and the Indochinese Peninsula, hence its nickname "the Roof of Indochina".
This hike was amazing, with breathtaking views all the way. As stated in the video, by law you are meant to get a permit and hike Fansipan with a guide. If you don't you risk being caught and escorted back down the mountain, which sounds like no fun at all. It costs 400,000 dong (approx $17 USD) per person for the permit, and/or 700,000 dong (approx $30 USD) for the permit with guide. Chew is an awesome guide who can meet with you pre hike, arrange the permit for you, meet you at Mt. Fansipan, and guide you up the mountain. You can Whatsapp him on +84 83 901 0255.
It's important to bring layers if you're starting the hike early, and for when you get to the top, as the winds and temperature are no joke. Unfortunately we had alot of cloud coverage at the top, so we did not have clear views of the valley. But, it was still totally worth it. We were able to make it up and back in a total of approx 10.5 hours. It's a good days hike, and you can definitely do it in a day.
Also, another option is if you don't want to hike this round trip you could spend 1/2 the day hiking it one way, then take the cable car one way. The cable car takes approx 20 minutes one way, and costs approx 728k dong per adult, 534k dong per child. And you can easily buy your tickets directly at the Fanspian cable car station.
We hope you enjoyed coming along on the climb with us. And if you plan to visit Sapa, Vietnam then I highly recommend spending a day climbing Mt. Fansipan.
