We're in Madeira, Santa Cruz. Definitely a place to visit on your trip to Madeira, Portugal. Situated between the capital city of Funchal and Madeira airport, this city has a very local vibe - with great restaurants and a lido that's perfect for those summer days. Thanks Yvonne & Mike 😊 Fancy me watching a video about Madeira while in Madeira?! 🤣 I've only been to Santa Cruz once as it was only at night coming back from the airport after picking up the replacement hire car (as seen in one of last year's vlogs) & we had to find somewhere local to dine before it got too late. I see you've see the collab video of the 3 of us? I accidently bumped into Joe in Zonha Velha then invited him to join us & hey presto, RU-vid history was made! Hiya Mr R, Ha ha, yes watching a video about Madeira while in Madeira, how surreal. I rather like Santa Cruz, although it'd always have to be Funchal first choice regarding staying a while. Your walks of Madeira are always the best. And this certainly gave us pleasant memories of you visit last year. We made the mistake of going to the Monte gardens on a cruise day. So we took a cab back down and struck up a conversation with a driver, who heard how much we loved Machico and Ribeira Brava as potential homes. We did and were pleasantly surprised with the town square, the market and how easy it was to walk around. We also saw the tail of a plane at the airport. When we move in a few months, we plan to take a look at a few houses there. Nice to have you back on the island.

Ah that's very kind of you. I'm glad you got a chance to explore further afield. Machico and Ribeira Brava are completely different to Funchal - they have an enchanting character all their own, and have plenty of amenities. If you're moving to Madeira, you're very lucky people!

Tourists always seem to look less frazzled in Madeira than Spain’s Canary Islands or Balearic Islands. Maybe that’s just how I read the people here, but vibe most of the time does feel more relaxed. Of course, Funchal’s world famous New Year’s celebrations are another story. Anyway, Would love to see you go out and try the restaurants here sometime in a future video.

Hello there @sugreev2001, well I think you may well be right about Madeira being very relaxed, we detect the same, which is perhaps why we like it so much. Regarding us trying out the restaurants in Funchal, watch this space as we're soon to return to Madeira, with more informative videos about just about everything Madeiran including the food!
