So far, I've encountered two or three real sh*theads on osu. The thing is that it was at the start of the game, so I thought almost everyone was like that. Fortunately I also made friends with some really nice people, and my opinion is now totally different. Don't let some idiots ruin your osu experience. And enjoy the game!

Ive been playing this game for about 2 years and ever got into the community. Today i might try to get into it.

great video as usual. been playin the game for a year or so on and off, but never really got into any of the discord communities. and now I want to. :D

I feel it is true that adding a gate of entry to a community can add a sense of meaning to being a part of a community, because it feels like you had to work to become a part of it. However, I also feel that it is true that this kind of gate keeping requires putting down members who don't meet the quota for the sake of making you feel better about yourself, because you feel as though your community is exclusive, and that feeling of exclusivity makes you feel like you belong. The main emphasis that while you do get a feeling of belonging to a society, it comes at a cost, of immorally putting others down in order to feel better about oneself, self justifying a negative ego with a sense of belonging. It is, in it's roots, selfish and I feel it isn't something that should be glorified. It can be pretty easily paralleled in a different scope of a typical school bully scenario, where the bully feels excessive pride by putting others down to make oneself feel above others. Sure, if you say someone is bad at x, you might have the illusion that you are better at x, making you feel happy and like you are good at something. However, do not let it distract you that these sorts of behaviors comes at a cost, a cost of bringing others down. Making others feel like they don't belong and that they are inadequate. Another topic I'd like to talk about is notion that without a gate of entry, it's impossible to form meaningful connections. While I feel this is true to an extent, in the sense that meaningful connections are easy to make in these sorts of communities, I don't feel it's the most moral way to make meaningful connections, and most certainly not the only way to make them either. In my opinion, the most righteous way to creating a tightly knit community whilst simultaneously forming meaningful connections is from the process of creating a community with the purpose of completing some shared goal. Although what I'm about to say is entirely anecdotal, and this is entirely an opinion, but most of my meaningful connections I've made have been from partners I've teamed up with for completing programming projects and such together. No gate keeping, no putting each other down, no unwelcoming behavior that'll make me or the other members feel unhappy and unwelcome. It is all pure, and uplifting behavior, where we all support each other on the premise of striving to achieve a goal. I feel as though these community ares tightly knit and hold a strong sense of comradery and morals in trying to lift each other up for the sake of reaching what everyone in the community desires. We can see these types of communities form throughout history, for example in WW2, America united for the sake of winning the war, victory gardens were made at home and the troops defended at the front line, a true and pristine community focused on lifting each other up, instead of a selfish community, such as osu where one is typically only concerned in raising their own merits and progressing individually rather than as a whole. These righteous kinds of communities are ones that need to be glorified, as long as they have a moral goal in mind, however whether they do or don't is regardless to my argument because either this righteous kind of community or a gate keeping community could both have an immoral goal, so it's not an exclusive trait. They don't only apply to wars , they could be shared passion projects such as game development, opening a restaurant, etc. The goal in these situations can be immoral, but they don't need to be, they could ideally have beneficial goals with ideas of things like charity in mind. The main emphasis of this conversation however isn't about the goal in mind, but rather the type of community associated. Great video though, I felt like you remained unbiased on whether or not gate keeping communities was a good thing, especially when you talked about how you can just ignore the community. Also I love the quality of it too, so here's a like and a sub. And sorry if this reply was a bit long, I'm just very passionate about disliking gate keeping communities and people who defend them. Keep up the great content :)

Lol tbh i love this game because of it's tryhard aspect. Improving is my favorite part of the game.

communities will always have their niche, things will become popular or not as time goes on, and new groups of close people will always emerge from the ones with no gates, maybe someone from that city club invites you to a small one in a suburb.

In my country back in the day , the internet wasn't even know to be a thing , and even pc's where like something that just works and you would by one for the whole family, im talking here like 2008 and stuff and i was 4 years old xd, you saying that newcomers that are below the age of 20 have access to the internet more is true but, for me as an example , you could say we were 5 years late or so, it isn't something that bothers me at all , in fact even tho i'm 15 currently i feel as if i've a part of the internet for such a long time that when i see newcomers from anywhere on the internet i would think just like the people that we're in the internet for long [ like my cousin who is 23 for example ] and i feel that's really special , srsly if it wasn't for fortnite blowing up i swear no one would even know in my country what a 'cpu' is or even ' how to use a pc' , since the people who knew about pcs were considered gods xd.i got my first access to the internet at like 6 years old , and my mom tells me you were playing games [ Warcraft 3: reign of chaos ] as an example , ever since you were 2, and i remember the good old days when we played LAN and stuff. There's no point im trying to clarify really, but i got a question: Does knowing about pc's , how they work and being in a tight community before fortnite explosion makes someone old to the scene of the internet? [ Because before fortnite the maximum you could know how does a pc work or stuff is really just the PS2 , the internet wasn't like something of a luxury, it wasn't even known to exist so yeah]

Sort of late, but I started playing about a year ago, and for a while I didn't even realize there was a community, I just thought there was a couple of streamers who had reaction speed times that would challenge world class LOL, DOTA, and CS:GO players. I've been playing so off and on that the community feels like it's pretty distant because I've never tried to integrate into it. That being said, I still feel like a part of it because of the weeb nature and youtubers/streamers like verto.

I want to be a part of online communities, but every time I try to become active on a discord server I get all nervous and weird. Even if I've been in a server for years, I can never seem to make myself interact with other people. I wish I could make online friends but I can't. Does anyone else do this? Please I want help

there is nothing wrong with farming PP but you right you need to enjoy the game, there is alot of type of map you might want to play. i like farm easy and hard diff maps just for fun, i never really care that with PP, since there is many pp and star rebalance which make PP is irrelevant. i played this game for like 3 years and learn how, interesting this community can divided into 2 side over one map you know that Hanzer map which is hillarious. of i compare osu community with 2b2t community, well there is no suprised 2b2t is more.menacing lol

i have one tip for osu player who didnt like japanese anime music. - Get back to us when you are ready (at least 500h anime watched) and if you still play osu, and dont like anime music please dont play multiplayer i dont want to hear another english song. im in osu to pure fun from clicking circles to japanese music

So in conclusion, the only way to get good at that game is to max out all your settings and remove all the vibrant fun visuals and instead invest in some stupid touchpad and grind the game out. I’m like a fighting game or you have to actually read your opponent doing this stupid rhythm game is just a matter of mechanical skill and constantly going over the same level over and over again. It’s like how the difficulty in Geometry Dash is only there because you have to memorize everything. This game sucks. I would rather play brawl Halle over this. At least that game actually allows you to improve in morel ways than mechanical prowess
