As a Thai .This is my favorite island so far.I had been there for 3 times, first time before Tsunami .But every time when i was there make me very impressed.
Yes! We Thai people remember before 😢 but now keep going they try to the building for nice place. Everywhere so beautiful. Nice trip for yourself. Safety first. Good luck 🥰🏂🪂🤽🧜🧚🏌️🚴🏊
OMG. I have never seen such beautiful underwater photos from a RU-vidr. You recorded very beautifully. Thank you. I didn't miss every minute and enjoy with you. have a safe trip
I once had a trip to this island with my family when I was a little kid (20+ years ago). It was 100% controlled by National Park, so no hotel, flashy resort, nor the restaurant (That's why the nature condition of this island is always at the top notch). We had to spend our night in wood bungalow (no AC, of course) or tent, and had our meal at National Park's cafeteria. I even remember that my dad woke up in the middle of the night to have the battle against a giant centipede that invaded our bungalow. What a priceless memory. lol
What a beautiful island! And the color of the sea, the blue sky and the voice of the birds. It's the best. I felt like I was traveling. The remote islands of Asia are good places.
Yes the Surin Islands are a dream of paradise. We are definitely looking forward to documenting more of Asia's islands. Especially before the coral is gone.
@@majorkade Over fishing, over tourism and water temperature rising are also ruin these underwater beauty. Even though the way we protect these area are better than the past but I think it still not good enough.
Love this guys. This does look pristine and uncrowded. Added to our list as is your channel. I love the way you put this together and will try to work some elements into our work. Form of flattery :) Cheers!
Wow 😯 that beach looked awesome. The super clear water was very cool 😎. So glad yall are experiencing all this. That boat was a little load though lol 🥴. I would be on the look out for that crocodile 🐊 🤣.
@@IfWeGoTo If you enjoy this trip, I recommend you to try visiting Koh Lipe. It offers you very nice dive spots and also variety of foods and accomodations.
Thanks for the praise. Also I'm conflicted about making the Surin Islands famous. On one hand, more exposure means more resources to protect them. On the other, too much visibility and they may succumb to mass tourism like other beautiful Thai islands, e.g. Phuket. Still we chose to make this film in an attempt to capture the islands as they are. Tourism or not coral reefs are unfortunately at risk of disappearing.
Welcome to watch your clip. It's very beautiful. I'm from Phuket. Yes, many corals were destroyed from the 2004 tsunami and the heat of the water increased due to global warming. I like to spend the night many times, the sea, the beautiful sandy beaches. Diving to see coral reefs and aquatic animals Welcome tourists from around the world to Thailand.
I living in Bangkok, I think once day i will sleep in tents in the middle of nature would be peaceful and relax. I forgot to think that nature has bugs and noise all night long. Until I came to see your video hahaha but whatever your footage so impressive. Cheers!
Hahha yes, the bugs were very loud, but it is relaxing in a way too? Thank you for your comment, it means a lot to hear that you enjoyed it! Cheers! :D
great video! I noticed you were diving to see the fish. I only know how to snorkel with the snorkel out of the water for air. Can is still see everything from on top of the water snorkeling and not diving with the snorkel? How would i breathe??? lol!
As a Thai. This Place is not famous like Puket ,Krabi etc. Because this place is a national park. And this year, open during 15 oct 22 - 15 may 23 only.☺☺ Welcome to Thailand. 🥰🥰😘😘 Sorry for my Eng.
Yes I'm glad the Surin Islands aren't famous. It seems sometimes Thailand can be a victim of its own beauty and success. Hopefully they stay a quiet place that only those interested in nature go. Also thanks for the welcome! Your English is great too.
Discovered you guys a few days ago. I'm really enjoying your content. This location looks right up my alley. You said the company offers round-trip from your hotel but where did you leave from?
Thank you so much, we’re really happy you’re enjoying it! The islands are stunning and definitely worth a visit!! And it seems like we forgot that important little detail 😅 hahaha. We stayed in a town called Khao Lak, but I believe they also have tours leaving from Phuket too!
Thanks for an informative video. Please can you give the details of how to do the tour the way you did it, or the way you recommended you would do it the next time.
Anytime!! We booked our tour online through "Snorkeling Thailand", but it was rebranded through "SeaStar", so you could probably get it from Seastar cheaper. I'd recommend booking the tour for non-residents or if you are on vacation so you don't have to worry about anything at all!! If you are a resident or visiting longer term, I would do it the DIY way!
Great video you guys I am so interested in visiting this island although I come to find that it is not open year-round. I think it’s only open from October to May.
Hello! Thank you! So happy to hear it was informative! We kept most of our luggage at our “home base” in Khao Lak! We had double booked there and the Surin islands because the rooms were affordable and the staff had a back room where they kept our valuables locked on our 3 day trip. A nicer hotel may be willing to just hold your bags for a couple of days if you don’t want to double book, but I would call to inquire just in case! :)
yeah it is super super heartbreaking to see our reefs suffering. when we were out swimming some patches of water were SO hot... like as hot as a hot shower or bath. And lots of fishing boats that should not have been there were around. I can see why the reefs are struggling. If it gives you any hope, some corals will likely overcome what's happening. When studying our local corals in college, a previously ecologically devastated area was making a very quick comeback and some corals were growing back quite quickly - quickly in terms of corals anyways. It will probably take a very long time though!

Hi!! You may want to check on google for your exact options. When we looked there were transit options available to get from Phuket to Khao Lak, where they leave for the Surin Islands. There may be tours that run directly from Phuket OR your tour to the islands may offer a pick up/drop off option as well. Hope that helps! :)
Thank you very much!! For both of us for 3 days we paid I believe around $400 USD - that included everything though. The boat rides, food, every dive, accommodations, etc etc. I think if you did it as a DIY trip you could get away with maybe half that price though!
Hi!! We used "Snorkeling Thailand", but I think they booked it through "Sea Star" and marked it up - either way, we had a great time and would recommend either!!
