Hi friends! If it's your first time heading up north into the woods to do some stargazing then we hope you enjoy this video! I tried to incorporate some helpful tips but if I missed anything please read the information below.
When you do your research online it will either be called Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Reserve or Torrance Barrens Dark Sky PRESERVE.*
When did we go? Thursday we drove out from Scarborough around 4PM. We arrived around 7PM and there were only 3 other cars there. Sundown was around 8:30PM However, since it was full moon it was pretty dark well into 10PM. If you choose to camp there, (which we did not) then you should get dark skies around 3AM just before the sun comes up.
Things to pack:
-Water
-Thermos with a hot drink
-Snacks
-Flashlight
-Bearspray
-Camera equipment
-Lawn Chair
-Binoculars
-Telescope
Helpful Notes:
-We had data connection and were able to make calls on BELL and Freedom provider.
-The last ONRoute is Barrie OnRoute so make sure to use the bathroom there.
-There are two porta potties at Torrance Barrens parking lot if you need.
-Arrive early if you want to secure a good spot and parking spot.
-Don't go when it's a full moon because it will be very bright until at least 3AM. You want to go when its a crescent moon or New Moon so that skies are very dark.
