Its crazy the amount of things there are to learn about this game. I played this nonstop as a teenager when it first came out....and I'm shocked by how little I really knew after thousands of hours. Appreciate the videos my man, great content!!
I never stopped fighting since when I came out and now with the renewed interest that came along with d2 resurrected I've been watching these guides to touch up on my knowledge and ive learned alot of stuff that is worth knowing lately.
I feel so misguided, I thought I was L33T back in the day haha. Turns out I knew jack shit lol. Crazy that a 20 year old game is zo massive in its knowledgeable way. And the new graphics just finish the product even better.
It's ultimately pointless though, you learn all these things while still realising that you have a 0.00001% of getting the item you really want. And then even if you did get all the items you want, you still have to grind the same levels you've been pouring your life into. I'm proud to say I'm done with this game. I played a few different builds that were fun, did some HC mode until realizing the game kills you whenever it wants with glitches and bugs even when you play it super careful, had a little fun on battlenet until that all my hard-farmed uniques were nothing compared to all the unique runewords. I just woke up and realized there are action rpgs with better plot (e.g Hades, Deus Ex revisions), better and fairer loot systems (borderlands, ), better combat mechanics ( basically any rpg that isn't a high-speed clickfest), better variety in monsters (dark souls, etc.)...basically I could be having a better time playing almost any other rpg. And for blizzard to keep making sh1t sequels, and then 20years later basically confirm their sequels were sh1t by reskinning their old game and slapping a 60$ price tag on it, ....you deserve more as a gamer. Shameful, lazy, uninspired. The people that make mods for this game deserve more.credit for keeping it alive than Blizzard do.
Dude idk how you have so many ideas for videos. You're killing it. Thanks for keeping up the good work. You've been a pillar of the D2 community forever and I appreciate you.
after all his years of accumulated knowledge, the remaster is a PERFECT opportunity to set himself up for success and grow his community further. It's good marketing strategy coupled with the brain of jimmy neutron
Well then if you get a godlike item, you can't socket quest it and add a nice rune / rare jewel in it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But... I guess the chances you'll get anything godlike is pretty low so...
Just a quick note also guys. When you imbue a Druid Helm, or a Barb Helm....these helms have +Skills for their respective characters. When you IMBUE a white helm of either of these Class Types (The Wolf Helm, The Eagle Helm, The Barb Visor, etc) IT WILL REMOVE ANY SKILLS ON THE WHITE ITEM, AND REROLL THE ENTIRE HELM. You will NOT keep those + to skills on the helms you are trying to imbue! KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN IMBUEING THESE! The nice thing about this is, these helms will reroll. Meaning, you have a wide array of + to skill that Charsi can ADD to the helm when you imbue it. You might imbue a white Druid Wolf Helm that only has +1 to Dire Wolf..... and it could roll as: "+3 to Spirit Wolf +3 to Raven +3 to Twister" ANY Druid Helm or Barb helm can roll +1-3 skills in THREE different skill categories. So just remember that when you imbue! This can be good or bad for you. ^_^ (Not sure why he didnt touch on this, but I digress. He does a GREAT job)
Yeah. I found a white +3 tornado the other day and learned this lesson. I did end up having it roll, amongst other things, +3 to hurricane but.. still. Twas a bittersweet lesson lmao
"It's not complicated at all" Formula: (Ilevel + qLevel + Magic Level * (Square Root of (Magic Level / qLevel) * iLevel ^3) - The age of your mom WEARING A DIADEM)
he just ´like the sound of his youtube voice so much he just like to talk. this bothers me a bit. the way he whistles slightly with some of the sounds. he sure like the sound of his voice that for sure..... just get so wierd because he is not like that at all on twitch
Me: "I would love to play diablo 2!" Devs: "Sure you can play the game... Do you have a masters in mathematics with a minor in statistics?" Me: "No..." Devs: "*EvilLaugh*"
I've found this in a forum and seems to be accurate based on my tries with lvl 83 characters. I guess it works as a TL:DR for the video? Thanks for the good content Llama! Circlets: Char level 83 Coronet: Char level 78 Tiara: Char level 73 Diadem: Char level 8
I was thinking about this. So, roughly speaking, diadems are a solid choice to imbue but where is the best/most efficient way to find one? Obviously they drop, but can I buy a white one from Charsi or Fara in normal and imbue it?
Yeeez coming back to D2R after playing the original there was so much stuff like this I didn't know. This is very helpful, subscribed and will check out your other videos!
Love all your guides, D2 was the main game I played growing up, and now that I'm getting into D2R I need reminders on how everything works in-game. Started two days ago, already on hell again! Love the vids keep it up!
I play till game crashes, then need to scan for repairs. Restart computer once or twice and I'm good to go for another 20 minutes. Also never use a town portal as they almost always crash my game lol
This video should have been just 1 minute long: "save all your imbues for diadems, and you can imbue those at any level but your character can't finish that quest until level 8." That said, diadems are super rare. I've been playing heavily since launch and only found 2 white diadems (along with a couple blue/green ones).
@@1tolightradius ah, that's not really what I meant. I really like his d2 content overall and have been watching him for about three years (my last foray into D2 before D2R) now. You're right though, the content often assumes some basic D2 knowledge so it can be less helpful for brand new players at times.
You shouldn't feel too bad if you wasted your imbues on something silly/temporary. Remember that imbues will be a minuscule meaning portion of all the rares you'll identify over your D2 journey. I personally like to imbue circlets/coronets/diadems just because you don't get too many of those by magic finding. In fact I think most of my rare circlet identifies are from gambling and the pskull cube recipe.
@@halfaddict for those not familiar, this does lower the item's level over time. there's an equation you can use to calculate what the lowest the same item will eventually get to, I can't remember off hand but it's something like 2/3 or 3/4s of the character level. but this doesn't matter with diadems because of what mrllamasc had mentioned in his video
I always thought it would be cool if they added unique items to this. While still super rare like gambling, it would be very D2-esk to have those instances where the proper item base turns into a GG unique.
If you are playing a Sorc or Necro, ONLY use for Orbs or Wands. I got an item so good it pretty much made the Leaf obsolete before I could even use it. It wasnt until I got a spirit sword I was able to replace it. You wont always get that lucky, but chances are you will get some +skills that will be around the level you are, so save it until you are at least 15 for your normal quest. Save your nightmare and hell for level 92+
One thing that absolutely drives me nuts is when people use verbal abbreviations what do you save by saying fcr TimeWise like 2/10's of a second maybe, but for all of us who have no idea what the hell fcr stands for we spend two minutes trying to look it up.. it's not just you it's everyone abbreviations save time when writing stuff out only . That being said.... love your work you make great Content
I would wait until later on in the game for better whites to drop and make what you need at the moment for whatever class. The other day a Templar armor dropped and it rolled some good stats and two sockets from Charsi I was quite happy with it and it had more defense than all the rest of my gear combined .
you can also imbue ethereal items and it stays ethereal. can roll really good for yourself if you are lucky with self repair affix. or just for your merc
Why do you keep tomes in your inventory? Cain IDs for free and keep town portals in a belt slot, so you can get to them instantly in an emergency by clicking the belt slot shortcut on your mouse. Now you have room for more charms.
Sometimes you dont wanna go all the way back into town to lug in a bunch of shit to be discovered. Its fun to just click something sometimes and if its trash move on.
I've never even seen a diadem or tiara. Yet. That aside, it seems stupid that the imbue mechanic produces insanely better stats off one particular kind of item from lvl 8+ on, while all other items are tied directly to character level.
I would classify this in my head as a neat but ultimately insignificant interaction. Just playing the game and gambling as a high level character nets you rare tiaras as well as other items much quicker. but it's cool to know
Hmm never thought of saving them for lategame. Intuitively I've always just imbued whatever my worst item at the time is among belt/gloves/boots because there aren't any sockets in those so no good runewords for them either. In hell generally all my gear is alright so belts are my favorite because you can get a pretty decent resistance/fhr belt this way that carries you through hell and since you can pick the base it allows me to upgrade to +12 potion slots without having to find a new good belt a lot of the time.
Thanks for your help. I am new to D2. I seriously think this game kicks D3 ass. Just started Hell level on a Paladin. Now I know the item is based on my character level I appreciate the video!!
Oh good this is what I remember using to imbue from 20 years ago and have been using for my imbue quests just trying for plus two skills and something cool. Thanks for helping with my foggy memory!
they get rerolled, but you get a bonus to staffmods (?) in general upon re-creating the rare item. Ergo you have a higher chance to roll +3 on skills with the new rare - independent of the skills of the original item.
It's not quite right to say it's purely based on your character level. The qlvl of the white item used matters. There are some items to be imbued where your character level doesn't matter, since the affixel level formula has a "max" term in it. In some scenarios, you can imbue items with a lvl1 char and get a good item because max(qlvl, charlvl+4) actually picks the qlvl of the item (its not exactly that in the max formula, but you get the idea)
I remember first playing D2, had a necro i just screwed with, summons, bone stuff, casually plowing through stuff, always did charsi's quest just cause shes the best.
Just to be mentioned that there's a low level duel com paying a lot of Ber runes for very good rolls of low level items. An ethereal self-rep ancient armor with 2 sockets and adds can make you damn rich. Or eth self-rep javelin, grim helm, grim shield...
MrLlamaSC I really enjoy your channel, and been playing D2 since I got the demo cd prior to release.. but man, I think you should make a video addressing the lack of support blizzard has put into remastering this game. Server issues are constant, and am sure you are having the same issues.. but it would be awesome if you can shed some light on it, and maybe other youtubers as well, so they can feel more pressure from public views.. keep up your work, I watch all your vids!
i notised that there is room a litle downway the hammer which is like a sircle and six mages a garding a chest in the center of the room and when u open inside is belt of the most simple and all white and the thing that makes me noticed is its prise which is 32 usualy belts are over 100 but also its durability which was 2 out of 4 usualy durability for belts are 14. later in the game i think katakombs 2 i found a boots again all white and with the same durability 1 out of 4 and i umbue them and it opens botts with finding magikal items 7 and light radius 2 but the durability was fiksed to 14 and the most intresting is the color of the boots which was golden shining yellow. I THINK that there is somethink bigger about this umbue but i domt know what is so far but the color is amazing u cannot stop wathing it. such a great game...
Can't find a diadem i have many characters at level 80+ and never got one (saw one drop someone else picked it up). At which level can i imbue a coronet ? My necro and my soso are both 86. I don't want to lvl up to 94 tbh, too draining.
As a returning HC D2 player from early 2000s, I would recommend these small tips for your content, don't take this as criticism, it is not, just some tips that might, or might not help improve your content even more Since even, as a returning vet *who is loving your content ❤,* I am hobestly having a bit trouble with understanding your content. Try to keep each video as close to the topic as possible, and not trying to explaing too many other semi-relevant things all at once. While it may seem perfect for up-to-date vets, it can cause sensory overload to people not yet familiar with all of these new concepts being bombarded in one video First of all, try to slow down just a bit. Listen to great speakers like Stephen Fry to get a handke of what I mean. Try using less jargon and abbreviations and not skipping right into endgame content on these tutorials about sort of basic mechanics. If there is jargon or abbreviations, or high level mechanical knowledge relevant that everyone should know asap and you can't avoid using, please explain them shortly before using them, and overlay Show examples of each case clearly, and explain why this/that item/runeword in particular is being brought up, but in a limited overview for each phase: early, mid, late and endgame. Or even just for new players who are only leveling up their first char, trying to fet into the game, and a more deeper section for the veterans Have overlay or description links to specialized videos on those tanget topics when they arrive, instead of going over them in the same video. Then at the end, show some concrete examples ingame. Especially now with Diablo on 67% sale, D4 around the corner, major variety streamers like Cohh are doing Diablo franchise LPs, I think there is a surge of denand for true noobie D2R (and D3) content
Imbued stuff also gets very good staff mods like all the time, so fishing for stuff like +5 tornado helms is cool. I also like using it on eth crystal swords and dimensional blades.
I go and get some Items like weapons or armor pieces and then I save and quit, upload my savegame into the cloud, jump back into the game and let charsi do her job - if I don't like the result,I simply download the previous savefile and try again🤷🏻♂️
You forgot something VERY important. If you find a normal (white) item of high quality already bearing some features, for instance a wolf head (druid) or a necro head or wand that already have some +2 for some skills... well, imbuing them will REMOVE these features and create new ones. It is crucial to know that, because looking for a nice white item for your build to improve further through imbuing is a total waste of time.
first imbue usually goes to my belt, second and third imbue is always saved for something like a helmet (Always for my merc) while I try to get them something good For me, thats how i do it
Hi @MrLlamaSC, I'd like you to discuss and help us understanding how can you cast, so fast, so many spells (left click) or use different weapons (right click). (Throwing gas potions, teleport, cast a spell, take a potion etc...). I will be very helpful. Cheers!
@@TaxifahrerTaxifahrer I used them too, but I still cannot run so fast, whilst I curse, then spell and do a different spell. I wonder if there were other tricks/suggestions.
i know that you has a lot information about this game and you're trying to share what you know to everybody, but unfortunately my english is not good :( so i hope u will demonstate what you're talking about by text or picture, not only this video but also others. thanks
Some Questions: - Where to Farm White diadems? - Is the Itemlvl of it Matters? - Which Level does my character needs to get the best Results on Diadem?
If we ignore that Grief is better than all of these, what is the best level to imbue an eth Crystal Sword or Dimensional Blade for the 450 ed or 300 + fools? What about Legendary Mallets? And is there in some of the weapon types the highest one also open for all affixes at lvl 8 already like Colossus Blades and Hydra Bows and such?
What about the question from the chat: Will +skills etc. stay on staves when they transform from white into rare? And would you imbue the first diadem found? I guess exceptional/elite makes only a little difference cause of more base defense?
They will randomly re-roll the plus skills. The item base is somewhat ignored, it can be superior or low quality and with whatever +skills on it and none of that will change anything.
Not that it matter that much though. I often use the normal imbue for something i just need on my first run to hell. like a pair of boots or armor.> I really hope blizz do something "crazy" with ladder. Like new runewards, items, rework, added content etc.. BUT i don't think that will ever be done somewhere else than mods
It sounds like if you are level 94 then imbuing a diadem would be a poor choice because a level 8 character could roll it just as well? This actually left me more confused. Is my logic making sense? What should you imbue if you make it to 94?
@@Azmoddan right but then Llama went on to say Diadems are different and can get plus skills even at lvl 8. Because it has a magic level of 18, which means it's always a ilvl of 86.
Lol a few days ago i asked in chat about this a couple times. "Does character level matter when imbuing?" I never got an answer till now. But I had already imbued a Diadem by then and got a +2 sin, 10% FR/W and some other stats.
I just realized that I had a dozens of characters in this game that finished normal-nm-hell and NEVER used this imbue because I always left it for "later"
