Now if this DOESN'T get at the true spirit of what the "Club is open..." I don't know what would. This is as most excellent as it gets. 4real and then some.
I lived in Dayton for much of the 90's and lived with Dan Toohey for a few years - he played bass on Fast Japanese Spin Cycle, Propeller and Vampire on Titus - Bob, his brother Jim, Tobin, and Mitch would rehearse and practice in our house all the time. Most of Bee Thousand, Under the Bushes, and Alien Lanes were written in my basement. I toured with GbV for years in the back of this old van selling shirts and tapes and setting shit up. When Tobin and Mitch left, it was my graduation time too
Unbelieveable!! It seemed as if the whole crowd of picnickers knew this song! Bob and GVB must have had a hard on for a moment..even through the endless amount of beer! Great music getting you off..or high(Glad Girls etc.)Whiffle ball bat? OUCH!
Don't worry, I wasn't saying the Who influence was a bad thing. GBV is one of my favorite bands -- I was just pointing out that the 80's underground punk stuff had little to do with the existence of GBV, and that Pollard and crew would be a-rockin' without them. But this video: This makes me ridiculously giddy.
