Not sure what you usually wear for hiking boots but these boots are broken in right out of the box! I’ve been wearing these things for years and I have some boots that take a year to break in, these things are like socks! I love them🤙
I bought mine 3 years Ago and still use them. I love them, still Waterproof, and the sole is Durable as new (With regular maintenance) I took me a couple of weeks of use to break them in, but I never hand any issues with them. In comparison to Salomon, the Lowas have a much better form for my feet.
You are the first person I have ever heard say that they had to break in Lowa Renegades. They are so soft, I have always been concerned they wouldn’t last
I wear these these boots all the time ...Mars bar kit (work,rest and play)...i buy them every 5 years as the soles are gone. But thats because i never have them of my feet. Best bit of kit ive bought.
Nice video 👍 I have the same boots and I too found it took a while to break them in. Just a note, you mentioned that the leather looked a bit dry, the spray you used will certainly aid waterproofing but it will not nourish the leather which will crack over time if not moisturised. I believe Lowa, and other brands have a cream product for this 👍
Kind of a wordy review. I have been wearing my Renegades on local trails and for street field and trail dog-walking. They come waterproofed and I have not applied anything since. The main things to say about 'em. A) They are basically broken- in out of the box. You can put them on tight or loose by how much you tighten over your ankles above the locking lugs . So I disagree with this part of your review. B) These are not resoleable. But so far they are durable, waterproof, light for their protective ability, and well made. C) They are roomy over toes and ball of foot and available in wide sizes.
My wife works for a shoe company. She said to look at your socks. Be sure to use a moisture wicking sock doesn't have a lot of cotton. This will help with sweating and in turn help with blisters.
Nice review. Just got a pair and am excited to use them. Theyre gonna get broken in on interior Alaska spring bear and get put to the test this fall on Kodiak for mountain goat.
Any footwear with a waterproof membrane is absolutely waterproof as long as the membrane is not damaged. It is not a chemical coating on the leather that provides the waterproofing.
I've had two pairs. Nice boot but the vibram sole wears pretty quickly. But I was using mine as an everyday boot walking on concrete etc. If just used for hiking or whatever they would last much longer.
I am so surprised about you saying they were hard to break in, I bought them put them on and never looked back. My Danner and Asolo were very hard to break in and it took forever for them to be malleable, I finally got rid of my Danner and Asolo they just did not want to soften I got fed up. But Lowa Renegade, man as soon as you take them out of the box they are good to go, maybe you have sensitive feet or may I say delicate!
So in your unboxing video you mentioned that you used to wear Keens. I am an avid Keen fan, but as you mentioned I burn them down fast. How does the fit of the Lowa's compare to Keen?
Oh yeah they for sure skate at first. I’ve found that after some roughing up on concrete you’ll get a better grip but for sure you have to be careful on ice as with another pair of boots. Snow these things are 💪🏾 as long as you have it sealed off with no snow getting in you’ll be set
I have those boots. After four years using them only in winter so approximately 3 months yearly I must say those boots are crap. The black rubber on the soles had a hole after the first year already, this year the leather broke just on the place where the sole is attached. It seems it was a manufacturing error there, as the leather looks like it was cut by the sole attaching machine. Vibram soles are crap. The whole boots too. Never again Lowa.
