Friends and family help Maeve and Fletcher get ready for their wedding, while Reva urges Johnny to go on with his life despite Roxie's mental breakdown.
Seeing old episodes like this one makes me see even more what soaps of today lack. What happened to the light-hearted moments? What happened to great romance? What happened to the great, daily escape that soaps used to provide to viewers???
Bauer Barbecue and a wedding! Oh how I missed the annual Barbecue this year (and last). Wow. Look at all the Bauers: Ed, Rick, Maureen, Michelle, Alan-Michael, Johnny. Roxy, she just disappeared from the face of the Earth. Chelsea/Blair, what a nice surprise! Fletcher. The good old days! What they did to Ben later was unforgivable. What happened to the entire series was a crime.
@CarlD2 Ross's date was Jenny, Rusty's partner on the police force.I forget his name, but the man Fletcher was waving at was the editor from the Journal. He was a recurring character for a couple years in the mid 80s/late 80s. I always loved how good GL was at showing friendships and family scenes. It's hard to watch such sweet scenes between Ben & Fletcher knowing that Ben grew up to be a serial killer. That IMO was one of worst storylines ever.
I was 4 days old when this aired!...Haha! Love the old commercials. Funny seeing Matt LeBlanc in the Tide commercial....The CBS Spirit bumper is probably the catchiest CBS bumper.
I loved this so much. The blend of humor, warmth, family and friendship that no show ever got the way GL did. I especially loved the Bauers in the kitchen, and the sweet scenes with Fletcher/Meredith and Fletcher, Ben and Michelle. I never forgave GL for what they did to Ben. The Roxy crazy story is so stupid, even if Kim and Johnny do a good acting job. Who did Ross attend with and who was that Fletcher was waving to?
All of the woman’s hats ruining the close ups of the men. Obviously, rehearsal didn’t do as planned when it was time to tape. LOL!!! When Guiding Light was off the charts. I liked Carl Evans and Beth Ehlers. They had good chemistry when they would fight. I loved when Harley would call him a big jerk like someone in real life would say it. Robert Newman looking like a stud in his shades. Johnny and Chelsea singing their hearts out and doing it quite well. I miss the 80’s & 90’s of GL and daytime in general.
@bluerose8508 Thanks. I'd never heard of this Jenny. Sometimes I forget how out in the woods Ross was for most of this decade. GL just did it so perfectly - never too sappy, yet never too hard-edged. The actors also have such natural connections. I never stop missing GL. The Ben story made me pretty much stop watching until around cancelation. At least they mentioned him one last time in the finale :(
I couldn't find any eps showing what happened to Roxy. Last one I could find was when Johnny was in the hospital with cancer then all the sudden his pain disappeared and tests showed the tumor had actually grown in size. What what exactly happened to Roxy after that? Sounds like a nervous breakdown???
Misipi Girl_77 she Roxy had a nervous breakdown was put in a mental hospital in Switzerland I think. Then after Johnny n Chelsea's wedding didnt go thru they ended. Johnny heard Roxy was improving n went to be with Roxy that's the last I heard of them so I assume eventually Roxy got better n had her happy ending with johnny.
